I do. In part 3, he clearly said "This IS the worst Sonic game ever made" when he said at the beginning and in the end that it's the worst video game he's ever played. He shouldn't lie about it. If I was Clement, I would make this whole review exactly my way with him being calm throughout the whole thing and not whiny or screamy, he never takes any pills or drink any chery whisky, he never even lies or mislead the audience like in the part where he talks about the boss fights, where he's even calm at the end of the Sonic Genesis video and calmly says that he's going to be doing a review of 06 instead of being all stubborn and acting like he never even wants to touch it until his doll forces him to do it and he never even add in this bit at the very end of part 7. If you don't know, go to that part and skip the video to 31:44. This review would be a lot better and would've been actually shorter with all of this removed.
He was whiny and screamy because the audience enjoyed it, and he himself thought it was funny to do the review like that. Besides, it would further drive the point that he really detests this game. I honestly don't see the problem. Too long? That just means we have more to enjoy.
@@tjlnintendo Not really. You know other video where they review or talk about most hated stuff, you barely see them screaming their heads off, you would mostly see them talk about it's big flaws and problems with a calm mind like what Phantom Strider does, something I wish Clement would've done for his 06 review. I have no idea why people enjoy watching others screaming over things when really, they should find it irritating. It just makes it seem unprofessionally made. Even Clement himself regretted doing it this way and I do forgive him for it.
i was stuck on that bitch for twice as long xD silver (now i actually like silver cause of his personality but fucking hell his psychic powers suck) everytime i used his power the ball went flying in the direction of the holes...
+Fusion Wing Silver's....personality??Seriously, outside of the Archie Comics making Silver the comedic relief guy (LITERALLY an issue where Silver uses his powers to stop a metal sonic and sonic battle to politely ask which is which lol), SEGA gave Silver no personality that I know of.
Honestly? Blaze was probably the original candidate to be the third in the main trio of characters. It makes sense, since she was already a preexisting and well-liked character, plus she controls much more similarly to the other main trio characters in that she runs fast, homing attacks, grinds, the works. My guess is they switched silver and blaze's rolls late into planning because they wanted a new character to sell a big new sonic game. Just a hunch, though.
That actually makes a lot of sense. I think Blaze is probably the most liked new character in the franchise too since she’s so badass. I guess they decided the new trio just needed to be male hedgehogs
Still the greatest review of this game ever made. It's insane that it's 6 years old now, I remember seeing it for the first time back in 13 like it was yesterday
"Because they knew it wouldn't make sense for Big the Cat to fish in Speed Highway." Funnily enough, Charriii5 found out that Sonic's Speed Highway level is entirely possible to complete with only Big the Cat.
Oddly funny that the ending skit is still applicable to buggy, broken game releases today. People really thinking executives are going: "If only those damn customers weren't so demanding, then we wouldn't have released our unfinished product!"
Silver is a great character. If someone made a game on him and make him better then 06 did, everyone might love him. The Force Unleashed is a good example
"Who wants to fumble Around In the dark?!! This isn't F*cking Silent Hill, I am playing A god damn Platformer!" Actually, Levels Where you Fumble Around in Dark places Has already been done in platformers before Sonic 06, Mostly The Crash Bandicoot series. There is a level in the very first game Literally called "Fumbling in the dark".
CJ Moore no it wasn't, slower engine, no balance whatsoever, and insultingly easy to do Ultras which you get by getting your ass kicked which are stronger than Supers which you get by being good, terrible soundtrack, and effectively ruined tournaments by making them basically be Ca$hcom advertisements. All of which weren't changed in the two (soon 3) subsequent sequels. SF4 sucks.
The ball experience is so accurate especially the part when he fell but tried to keep himself back up with slivers floating power but end up still falling cause you run out of energy I can't count how many times that happened to me 😂😂😂
With the Star Wars example, I was honestly expecting Raz from Psychonauts as the example. A bunch of cool psychic powers and platforming-based gameplay from the start.
Dear Clement, Do not forget where the guy says "You can't get past us!" and then Sonic is supposed to immediately get past them and you played in the town for a hour trying to find an entrance. Just wanted to make sure you got EVERYTHING you wanted to say in these reviews.
During the Flame Core part I would have added the whole bit of Sonic and Shadow telling you how to play that part of the game as if it was a tutorial level.
Yup! It also makes me glad that they outsourced Twilight Princess HD instead of doing it themselves, that way they could continue working on Zelda U. I was honestly expecting Zelda U to get delayed right from the start anyway, it usually happens with every main console Zelda game if I remember correctly.
+Burraku Dusk Remember delays might not be that good either, Duke Nukem Forever was in Dev hell for years and when it was finally released it was crap. Then again I'm sure that's a very isolated case.... Right?
+The Helmaroc King lol...We should all know Zelda got delayed to be an NX launch title. ZeldaU (which is probably close to being finished, if not done) will likely be the after-thought to compensate for those unfortunate WiiU owners.
I've watched a few playthroughs of this game and it's so much fun listening to people freak out over how horrible it is to play. It's nice to see somebody give it the Mr. Plinkett treatment.
He did say in the end of that segment that it's what stupid kids believed in. That theory is pretty stupid and even he thinks so because even if they've had demanding fans, they wouldn't've listened to them anyways. Fans would know how to be patient with a game and understand what the developers are going through when making it.
@@chimanruler15 Yeah, you see Persona fans demanding such games like P5 Arena or Persona 3 Remake, but at least they're not so demanding and impatient that Atlus has no choice but to get the game out now just to satisfy them, the fans know better than that. Some Sonic fans can be like this, sure, but even so, the company doesn't let them push them, which is why that theory is pretty stupid, because how would anyone think it's true? People who believe in it obviously doesn't know how companies work and how they deal with pushy customers.
I found a glitch in the floating platform section of Crisis City where at the first jump pad, apparently if you homing attack it a certain way, you will get stuck for like 5 seconds and be in a ball of electricity. It's really cool looking.
It makes me wonder, how many people(including you Clement) never thought of using those vases in the room with the billiard ball where you have to avoid the holes. Not long into that room, I noticed them and figured I could use THAT to be more gentle on the ball and push it into the hole it belongs. All I can say is that it worked. The number went down maybe once. Only thing is, with me when I was going through it, something weird happened. Okay. The ball flew across the room, and into the hole.
When Silver the Hedgehog is flying, he should be able to move in all directions, not just forward. Similar to Minecraft when you fly in Creative Mode. Also, his power should run out in the same way Tails gets tired. Allow about 10 seconds of air time, then fall slowly and still be able to move him while he falls.
I recently bought Sonic 06. Not played it yet, still waiting on it to arrive from Amazon. Coming straight from Sonic Generations, I'm not holding much hope for this game to be good. And as my girlfriend's favourite Sonic character DIES in this game, I doubt she'll enjoy it that much either.
Hell, to keep it simple. Rage quit 3 times, didn't make it past the Sonic snowboarding levels, worst Sonic game I've ever seen or played. Not touching again
***** You are an idiot. It's not canon because the game itself unmakes it. In it's story the ending ends up so that nothing of the game never happened. Do research you idiot before you comment.
Elise did technically blow out Solaris, thereby somehow erasing the entire game, thank God. Why Sonic Generations brought back Crisis City I will never know, but in that game, the level is much more bearable
And sega also said sinse so many of the developers and fans requested it this game was announced as non canon. Reason why it is in generations is beyond me i think its because they wanted to show where silver originated from.
Clement, even after all the years since you put his review up, anytime I feel down or need some guaranteed, A-list entertainment I find myself watching this review. It's just so viscerally perfect. Kudos for this and for all your other LPs and content. Also: thank you for playing this game so I didn't have to.
bethany waters well just as a heads up, ignore the prequels if you ever plan on watching the star wars films, only watch the original trilogy since those are the only good ones, the prequels have horrible writing
bethany waters you're welcome, no one should watch the prequels first, sure they give some exposition but you dont exactly need it and the writing is so bad that it wouldnt matter
I agree completely, it's not glitches that are the game's main problem. It just has a massive amount of terrible decisions. To me at least, glitches don't ruin a game unless they're glitches that inconvenience the player that are easily run into by accident. There's Sims games where there's so many ways to make your file corrupt that you'd literally have to follow a forum just to make sure you don't do the wrong thing like delete your Sim that makes sure your file will corrupt in a few years. See, that's a game that is ruined by glitches. Even if 06 had no glitches and everything in it was intentional, it still wouldn't be a good game.
24:00 This was changed in Generations to have a yellow icon where they are going to pop out but in exchange, they shoot from more toll-y places in the _background_.
That was Sonic Generations. It was actually PLAYABLE. Sonic 06 is an unplayable mess. It's pretty easy to see why Crisis City was way easier and fun in Generations than in Sonic 06.
Sonic 06 could've been even worse if they have to put in a loading screen everytime you die. Clement would've lost it completely to the point of commiting suicide.
Hey, Clement. P-06 makes Silver actually pretty solid. They gave him a faster levitate, a quick teleport dash, a projectile attack that both can be used as a quick stun and as an actual attack. They also upped his speed a bit and now when he's at speed he actually does a cool superman pose fly animation while glowing with psychic energy. So yeah, he's pretty damn solid to play as now.
What you just said is why 06’s main problems aren’t glitches but instead bad designs. If P-06 only fixed the glitches, then the game would still suck. In order for 06 to be playable and fun, you need to do things like make the characters fast, get rid of the tedious combat of killing waves of enemies with giant health bars, make the levels far shorter, get rid of the obnoxious, frequent, lengthy load times, make the game auto-save, make the mach speed sections have good controls like changing direction mid-jump, and make the ball puzzle simplistic, fun, and not rage-inducing (or just get rid of it entirely). Just fixing glitches is not enough to make 06 good, not even close.
@@supersaiyanfox9190 I can't speak for the ball puzzle because in the demos I've played Silver was only playable in the test stage, but the Mach Speed sections aren't as brutal anymore. Sonic no longer gets stuck on geometry when he crashes into it (I don't even think he loses rings anymore. I'll have to play through Wave Ocean's MSS again to test), you have a smoother left-to-right movement, you can change direction mid-jump, you no longer have to hit the final loop at the PRECISE RIGHT ANGLE OF ATTACK in order to not fly off into the wild blue nothingness of the void... Levels are still long, though. Especially Kingdom Valley. Time will tell if they shorten up the levels on top of the mechanical tweaks they've done. Since it's still in development.
@@supersaiyanfox9190 Yeah, a LOT needs to be fixed... and while the P-06 project is a step in the right direction, I'm not sure if the scope of the project is large enough for such a task.
@@Shadethewolfy Almost EVERYTHING in 06 needs to be fixed in some way. Everything you could possibly imagine that makes a game terrible is present in 06, except for bad music. I agree with Clement that this game should be a part of the video game Hall of Shame, and I agree with him that this game should be in game-designing classes for what not to do when making a video game.
From what I played of Colours and Generations, yes they've fixed those issues by rigidly sticking you to the track and offering lanes to run along that you can switch between. Sure, it removes control but it also prevents the random deaths. Sonic still runs a bit too fast in places, and there are "How could I see that coming?" moments. Generations suffers from not being 60FPS though...
speaking of the falling rocks... in my 06 Playthrough in Shadow's story, I hit the ramp about to go into the volcano, and actually got knocked out of the air BY the falling rocks, costing me a life! Im not making that up. and Ive never seen ANYONE ever have that happen to. That should be a fucking secret achievement/trophy right fucking there
My nephew has more Sonic exp than I do and he told me Silver's concept is interesting. If they do some fine tuning with him I'm sure his unique abilities would be fun to play in future games.
With some heavy re-writes of the scenario, some re-tooling of the many problems (dumping the ball puzzle for starters) this might make a solid game with enough polish. Likely it would have to be a ground up remake not just patching.
that ending tho..."ahh I hate you game!even when u give me an ok level, u make put up with this shit? I hate u, I hate u, I hate u, I hate u, Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
Suggestion for silver: when he homing attacks an enemy, he telekinetically grabs them and to take out the big enemies, he would launch the enemies he's homing attacked at it.
