As a blue jackets fan, I love having Torts as our head coach. He is exactly what we need in a coach. But at least the game didn’t end like the 10-0 ass kicking the jackets handed to the habs last year, then you would’ve REALLY lost your hearing then
ok boys, we gotta feed the Marner. I did notice JVR and Bozak been stepping up the game, and I swear Babs was giving them more icetime last night. Who do you think would make the best center for Marner? Marleau is good with Marner. Hell him and Matthews are practically his kids now... whatever the line is I want Matthews and Marner on the same line. Is that too much to ask? Could we not try it? Couple of highlight reels per night? Bozak looks good only trouble is we need that every night.
I thought of you when I heard Friedman talk about the goalie-thing. It might be because you're the only Leafs fan I "know," but whatever. I'm internet-proud of you for talking about it, though, instead of just ignoring it. :)
Rather they come out fast, then take the second of but seriously.... They need to realize I hope good they can be. Character at work means the same for everyone. Show up ready and work hard until it's over. They're young but they can do this. You are absolutely right. Communicating and not abandoning assignments but that's an easy fix. Good Bless Mitch Marner. He's... wow.
Omg the part with the cannon was hilarious. Also I can see how that would get annoying if you’re the away team. Edit: I NEED Steve’s cannon impression as a ringtone!
Fun bonus info - Rimer is in the broadcast booth while Shelley is between the benches at all times, so it'd be a little difficult for them to be "looking at eachother" (and Shelley ought to have noticed the odd-man rush). But they managed it anyways!
McElhenney earned it when he shut out multiple McDavid breakaways and earned a shutout in one night. It's not his fault the team is tired when he's playing. Also, I have no need to see Matthews come back before the new year. Rushing him back will only be a short term win with the risk of long-term consequences. Let's stay the course for now.
I'd play Matthews on Saturday. Maybe they'll have a decent Christmas that way. The Leafs play terribly in front of Curtis M, I actually feel bad for the guy.
not sure if you saw the statistics but according to @mirtle on twitter, leafs possession with mitch on ice was 79.2%, without him was 42.7% leafs' share of scoring chances with mitch on ice was 84.6%, without was 38.9% what a guy!
So many people have been screaming for the leafs to replace Mcelhinney. From the start I said that it would be a bad idea so think about this. Take out every game he has won or played decent and those are the games you are talking about taking up more cap space to win and remember that no matter what you are not going to win every game they play the backup and your probably going to lose quite a few of them unless you plan on playing a starting goaltender in a backup role. Doing just that involves paying a starting goalie salary for a backup and putting a player who doesn't want to play in that position there meaning your probably going to lose more games. Backups are backups and if your putting your playoff hopes on how good your backup is you need to rethink your strategy. If Mcelhinney wins 50% of the games we put him in he did his job.
No. Babcock seems to Start Anderson against the worst team of a back-to-back. Counterintuitive but it makes sense. Babcock probably wants at least 2 points out of a back-to-back, so to ensure that he plays the best goalie against worst team.
setokaiba991 I agree iv always found that interesting, iv never played net so I don't understand how it feels but you'd assume it would be the least strenuous position.
That cannon was a lot last night, scared the crap outta my daughter after the first goal. Matthews should stay off until after Christmas. Give him the rest it’s one game. Was k8nda hoping he was playing last night since I was there, bummer.
It's interesting tortarella will get mad but he controlls himself and the team captain will keep him in check when he needs to and there is a lot of possession and it makes CBJ interesting when a bad penalty is called
Pretty brutal smack in the head that Kappy took, but what was worse was Milne's call sounding like Kappy threw his head into that elbow. I'll say it again, Romanuck sounds too damn excited about nothing, half the time, and way too excited when someone scores against the Leafs. Milne, well, I just don't know why they keep him around making those crappy observations.
I think McElhinney is a decent back up and makes great saves. The media act like if he doesn't stand on his head every outing he's garbage. I would argue McElhinney is a better player than Gardiner
Gardiner is the most frustrating leaf to watch. Can someone tell me what exactly is his role? I hate players who just are there and to me he Ian someone who has just been there over the past month
