Steve, I am 35 years old, a Red Wings fan, and I have NEVER posted a comment to you tube in my entire life. I have read your book. I have watched every LFR since the 2016 season. Thank you for your perspective on this game that I love. Take care of Leo. Honor your grandfather. Remember Charlie. Cherish your wife. Happy Hockey, friend.
I was gonna write something similar, as a Habs fan. You wrote exactly what I was thinking. This guy's passion for hockey is contagious, regardless of the team he supports. I'm almost... sad the Leafs lost? because of Steve? And Charlie? Which is weird. I don't know. Conflicting feelings. Thanks Steve for the videos, best hockey content on RU-vid, or anywhere for that matter. Take care mate.
Same thing here, I don't like the Leafs and never have, but Steve's energy and passion for his team and for Hockey is contagious. I've watched every LFR and I'm a Stars fan, and I love his view on hockey as a whole even outside of his own team. He's not afraid to compliment other teams, even when they whoop up on his Leafs. The LFR's, Trade Tree's, and SDP are some of my favorite things to watch on RU-vid
Came here with similar thoughts as a fellow Wings fan who doesn’t care for the Leafs. Steve’s passion for all that he does, compassion for others, interesting personality, and love for the game easily transcend fandom lines.
Nice to hear. Then consider this, some Leaf fans do suffer more than less. Generations of fans have lived and died without ever witnessing victory. As well as my younger brother had. It's become more than disheartening for us living fans to even want to recognize that aspect. Yes, WE suffer.
Look on the bright side: You weren't wrong. In all seriousness, while I'm not a Leafs fan, I respect your fandom. I'm glad you're loyal even though this happens every year. You're not a bandwagon fan. Keep being you.
Dangle, I mean this with love. I will be 47 in 3 weeks.... In my 47 years, I have hated the leafs.. not for the players, management or ownership but I have hated the fans. However in the last year that I have subbed you, You have shown me that not all leafs fans are to be hated. Thank you for putting out the content that you do. I was really hoping for a Habs v Leafs series... we nearly had it in 93.. and havent had it since 79.. this is a SIN.. Sure Boston/Montreal is the greatest rivalry.. but the world NEEDS to see MTL V TOR .. its on our DNA as Canadians. Much love Dangle.. and congrats on Dangle JR.!
"LFR, what does that stand for?" Based on the last few videos it's obviously 'Leo's Father Reacts.' [Note: this joke is not meant in a mean-spirited way at all. Even if there's not going to be Leafs hockey going forward for the next little while, at least Steve's got his little guy and time to enjoy being a dad :)]
Steve, you got me crying man. As a Leafs fan in the UK sometimes I can’t watch every game but your videos and podcasts always bring me up to speed. We might sit and watch you through a screen but you’re like a best friend to us brother, we love you
Ik same this really hurt. In order to succeed, We need to surround our young talent with more players who play with character like Hyman and Muzzin and fix the defence. Idk when will win but it’ll come.
Oh let me tell you all that getting further in the playoffs is even worse. You get one magical run then Constantly refer to it. That is what the Jets did in 2018. Jets fans STILL haven't stopped comparing any team to them.
Sorry Steve about you losing our dog Charlie. I lost my dog too, a few weeks ago. She was a great friend and a member of my family. I understand your pain. Take care and be well, Steve
This season broke me as a Leafs fan. My fandom of them has been a toxic relationship for 15 years. They’ll always hold a place in my heart but I can’t give the same energy to this team as I have. I just can’t.
yeah this season has been the most frustrating in a decade. At least in the Kessel years you could say "meh they were never that good" but here it's like HOW DO WE HAVE SO MUCH TALENT but NO DEFENCE and cant score when we need to.
I know what you mean. I almost bought my baby niece a leads jersey last week but I put it back. I thought to myself I love her too much to put her through so much heart ache.
64year old dyed in the wool Blues fan born in St Louis. I know whet it is like to go 50+ years without a cup (and I was there for every gut wrenching, soul crushing one of them). That being said, I have a few things to say to you. 1. My son being born went a long way to lessen the blow of inevitable eliminations for almost 40 years now. It still hut, but it was no longer the agony it once was. 2. The Leafs will win a cup in your lifetime (I believe within a few short years). I know it doesn't help today, but consider this. How sweet will it be for you and your beautiful son to be at that parade together when he can appreciate it. Take it from a 64 year old guy who has lived in Tampa since 2000, but never lost the blue in my blood and drove all night to be in St Louis for a celebration and parade he waited for since he was 11. 3. The team that wins the cup this year will have no parade, no rally, no celebration at local bars and restaurants. No public events. Nothing. (So glad the Blues won it LAST year!) The Leafs and Blues fans have walked side by side over the last 50+ years in frustration and disappointment Hopefully their names will finally be pounded into the cup together, as well. And on the same ring!
Thank you Mr. Dangle.... this season was an emotional roller coaster.... I can’t imagine how you have felt with everything going on in your life. Thank you for keeping these videos up through everything! I hope you know how much your fans enjoy these!
Thank you Steve for all that you do. Every game I watched. In December 2019 I had emergency surgery, 5 days on life support, 1 month in hospital and although I couldn’t watch games at that time i always watched your videos about the games. Thank you for all that you do. When in hospital the only thing I wanted to do was watch a leaf game, and I got to get all the details from you after every game. Yes I gotta admit I’m a bit salty how this season ended but know there’s always next year. (Us fans say that a lot) Congrsts to Mrs Dangle and you on the birth of Leo, and sorry for the loss of Charlie and your grandfather. This season has had its ups and downs but i look forward to watching again next year and we can all go this over again. Much respect and thank you again for all that you do. Go Leafs Go! Well next year at this point anyways... 💙
I didn't know about your grandfather, my deepest sympathies man. I love all the dedicated work you put in all your videos, always a pleasure to watch and take care of your family! That's the most important! - some habs fan.
This man is amazing! The amount of effort and time it takes to edit and post these videos is easy to forget sometimes. All he does is make me laugh. I'm not even a hockey fan I just like watching!!
I’ve cursed my son with being a Leafs fan...he’s 14 and started watching your LFRs this year. The other day, after watching the game 3 video he said “I finally get it...I understand why you are the way you are after a Leaf loss, and why Steve is always yelling.” Thanks for helping explain our affliction. Have a great “off-season” Steve and Leo!
Hey Steve, Habs fan here. My heart goes out, thanks for the info. entertainment and laughs. Best wishes to you and the fam. see you in 2021. Cheers dude, keep smiling :)
Ryan Friesen Toronto was in a playoff spot and Florida was not. Bottom line. Despite how horrible Toronto played down the stretch, Florida managed to keep losing. The Leafs gave Florida every chance to overtake them and Florida couldn’t do it, so there’s no logic behind you “knowing” Florida would make it. Also I don’t know what the games being in Toronto have to do with anything, there’s no fans and it’s not like the Leafs got home team advantages in all the games they played.
Ryan Friesen lol I agree they played bad but so did Florida wtf are you talking about 😂😂😂 you’re just asking me to believe you that Florida would magically have passed Toronto bruh you’re just a leaf hater you’re gonna talk shit even if they win the cup it’s pointless talking to you
Habs have at least been in the playoff finals in my lifetime... honestly didn’t think they would beat the pens, especially the way they did, but Habs have better odds of getting to the finals
Posted this in Game 4 vid. "The leafs are the masters of making it interesting and finding new ways to give us jaded fans hope, only to break our hearts again." I believed this so much, from experience, I didn't even bother watching Game 5. Do you blame me?
This video's making me cry. Steve is such an amazing person. He's incredible. His emotion that he puts into everything.. this is why he's the best, why this fanbase is the best :)
I'm a Habs fan, but came across your videos several years ago, and have been watching ever since. Love the videos, love the podcast, and honestly only follow the Leafs at all because of you. The work you put into everything you do is truly astounding, and the last LFR of the year always breaks my heart for you. Looking forward to what's to come, congratulations again on Leo, and take care of yourself. ❤️❤️
@r__p__m you'll never know what its like to be a leafs fan. All we know is disappointment. Next season is the first time in 23 years that I won't make an effort to watch every game, this season did mental and emotional damage
Don't feel bad for Toronto shooting 2% because they have literally 0 net front presence. How many times did CBJ goalies have a clear as day look at it? The unwillingness to battle is crazy.
@Alex __226 - 100% ... CBJ has got Korpy n .....that’s Korpy -and- Elvis locked up for 6.8M ....CBJ has Seth J, Zack W, Vadislov G signed for less 10.5M ! Leafs problem is dubas...Keko is one of top 3 GMs in NHL ...leafs are like edmonton....on paper there impressive... But ...
Exactly, you nailed it right on the button. How do the Leafs expect to break down a goal without screening him and getting into his face? Not even once in he series did any forward on the Leafs make an effort to screen the goalie and make his life as difficult as possible. Also, the Leafs forwards are such wimps that they didn't even bother to forecheck and smash Jones and Werenski. The playoffs are different game. A team needs grit and iron horse work ethic to grind out a win. I have no faith in this roster.
Well said Steve! Thanks again for a great season of LFR. Congratulations on the birth of your son and my condolences to you and your family for the loss of Charlie and your Grandfather. I have to be honest, as a dog lover I shed a tear for Charlie and I love your tribute sign on the wall. Only dog owners will understand the importance of our furry friends and how much they mean to us. Your tribute was beautiful 😢
While I'm not a Leafs fan, I've really enjoyed your videos. I lost my own grandpa in February and while it's hard, the stories and memories are what will make you smile even through the tears that will come. Much love to you and your family. Please stay safe.
We won't, its been 53 years. Us leafs fan kind of accept that because all we know is disappointment and we just eventually become numb to this. In my heart of hearts I don't think they'll win in my lifetime. Every other fanbase hates us, the league hates us, it's just sad and unfair
@@chunkyvonthick3225 rangers waited 40 years, hawks waited a pretty long time like 40-50 years, so what makes you say that we won't eventually? I know we won't win in the next 5 years, but I think we can eventually
@@zednik4hart those teams actually showed signs of progress. We do not. We make it to the first round and exit. Rinse and repeat and this year we regressed once again. 53 years and now its harder than ever to win. Wouldn't be surprised if we went another 50, we sign players to bad contracts and we are about to lose Andersen next season and we will fall back to not having a decent goalie
When it happened for you, that’s exactly what I was thinking and I was happy for guys too. It’s what all us Leafs fans dream of and when it does finally happen we will all be crying with joy.
Also I just wanna say this, thank you Steve. Thank you for your dedication to the Leafs, to putting out content for us despite all the hardships this year has thrown in your lap, and to trying your best to stay wrong when everything is going wrong. We love you brother, and while I may hate the Leafs with every fiber of my being, I won't stop watching ;) Keep your head up brother!
Thank you Steve for making us European fans feel connected to this team. Your videos are amazing and I only wish that the leafs lived up to what you do. That zoo bit with welcome to watching the leafs with Steve dangle is my favourite bit you've done. It was hilarious. Thank you Stay safe Slovenian/UK leafs fan
These last few years of watching LFR have turned me from just a Leafs fan into a student of the game. Even in the Dark Times, I enjoy hockey much more as a result.
From a Bruins fan who enjoys coming here for an opposing perspective -- the losses that actually matter aren't the ones on the rink. Condolences, Steve. But you have your new little guy, so that's gotta be pretty awesome, no? :)
Thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them and it helps with my mental health. Knowing someone can tell about a game as loud as I do, make me feel a bit less crazy sometimes. Have a good break from LFR and enjoy time off with ypur family.
We love you steve, we will see LFR next season, looking forward to some SDP in the meantime! You take care of that family and work on healing up those wounds
Patrick Rhomberg oh yeah, I’m not underestimating the Canucks. Markstrom and Demko have been incredible against the Blues the past few seasons. I honestly expect the Canucks to take this series to 7. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Canucks pulled it off. Especially if the Blues play like they did in the round robin. If they do, it could be over in 4 or 5.
Ngl Steve I was having a super hard time dealing with last nights game because as you know so well its emotionally draining to care so much about a team that lets you down EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! but after watching your video its like you put to words how I was feeling and that helps me deal with the game a little better. So thank you Steve, these past few months have been extremely difficult for you losing loved ones and adding a Dangle to the family (congratulations) but you've still been there for all of us and I'm sure I'm not the only one who is grateful.
I first discovered you through the dangits series and started watching all of your videos and even leafs games (im a penguins fan). I love what you do and it has played a big part in me finally deciding to start my own podcast with my friends and next season i will start a similar series where I review penguins games. I guess what im trying to say is thank you for giving.me tbe confidence to actually go through with something and live life to the fullest. Life moves fast and i just want to enjoy every part of it. Thank you.
That feeling from a Leafs play-offs (play in!) loss, magnified by the fact that it's August...2020. Groan. We'll be tuned in next season. GLG. Wanted to LFR to one of your stories, Steve, about your baby being born and then your dog dying, as I had a similar experience. We used to have a piece of paradise, a large fenced yard in the middle of nowhere, so we rescued a few senior dogs to live out their days with us. One big ol' sheltie was named Midnight, but I affectionately called him "Fatso". He didn't seem to mind. Vastly overweight, he had surgery to remove lipomas and his teeth pulled out, the ugliest sheltie ever, but gosh, I love him, and he me. But as is the way with old dogs, his days were soon numbered. It so happened to be just as my daughter was being born. I spent the night at the hospital with my growing family and returned home the next morning, there to find Fatso on his side, nearing death suddenly. I put him in front of the fireplace and stayed with him, leaned into his ear and said I loved him, and as though he knew what I said, as though he was waiting for me, he arched his back, curled his tongue, and let out his last gasps, just hours after the birth of my daughter. Sobs of sadness competed with the elation of my daughter, a feeling I cannot find the words for. When you mention Charlie, I flash back and tear-up. Maybe it's because it's 2020... The Leafs loss, though sad (again!), is really no big deal when you compare this to what is happening in the world. I was grateful for the distraction on TV and will enjoy the rest of the playoffs, regardless of who wins. It all seems so frivolous compared to everything else. As one that worked with senior citizens providing music programs full-time, my business has been wiped out since CoVid (See 'Jimmy's Old Time Radio Show' here on RU-vid). I don't know where my life is going now. And I am just one of millions cast into doubts. We should be grateful for having something as silly as a hockey game to complain about when the world is in so much pain. Thanks for making me smile over so many morning coffees, Steve. I look forward to next season. All the best to you and your family.
Here's how I look at it Steve and I said this the day hockey was gonna come back. I love the Leafs I have since i was a sick five year old up in the alumni box with Wendell Clarke and Kipper, me who had just been on Coaches Corner stomping on my habs jacket after my mother left me with kipper to go get a drink. But this year, these playoffs I did not want them to win. If they won this year there would not be a parade, no mass celebrations amongst other die hard life long fans, nobody going crazy in the square, none of it. Sure we dont have our pick and you know what who cares, we have some of the best players in the league and some amazing future stars working their asses off to make the bigs for now lets just enjoy the playoffs and cheer for the Habs becuase it would be hilarious if they won this year. Stay safe and stay proud Go Leafs Go.
You know Steve. I’m an oilers fan. I’ve been watching your videos since I was a kid, and now I’m 18. After years of watching ur videos, I never fully understood “this team is ruining my life.” Like the oilers sucked for so long and never gave me hope that I just was use to them being failure. But after this season, us being good and failing as the hub city against Chicago. I fully understood that saying; the emotional rollercoaster of hope and then just being disappointed in the end.
When you started talking about the painting of Charlie.... tears. Thank you for your videos Steve, they are the only thing that keeps me sane through hockey season.
Thank you for making this. Didn’t really let myself react to the game but hearing you talk about this past season made me feel like I could. Not a lot of people understand the passion and pain that come from this team, but you perfectly embody it. Thank you for being a long time friend and let’s keep BeLeaf-ing for next season
That's why this team is the laughing stock of the league. You have some of the best forwards in the league, and some good Dmen, and yet you still need to 'beleaf' Any other team in the league, with these players would have success. The Leafs with these players? Can't win a playoff series. 54 years and counting, here's to another 54.
I lost my last grandparent around 18. I've always said memories are the best way to think about loved ones. I'm so glad you had so many more years with your grandfather to make more and more memories.
I lost a dog this year too, around the same time. With the collar and the memories, do whatever feels right to you. Don't let us on the internet tell you what to do with those feelings. CBJ fan, but I've always loved your videos. Keep posting. Congrats to your family on the latest addition. :)
Steve, bro, you make me proud to be a hockey fan. Losing a pet, a grandparent, and having a kid, so many feels. You beasted this one out, dude. Here's to next season!
Thank you Steve for teaching me about the leafs as someone from the U.K. who doesn’t have access to a lot of hockey content I really appreciate your videos for getting me more into hockey
I heard from the feed on ice someone said t “f***in ice” and that sums up half of these games the ice is terrible no matter what and funny bounces turn into deciding goals. Love you Steve
"I wasn't a leafs fan until i started watching your lfrs" Thats like saying " I wasn't into you until you told me about the bodies you have hidden in your cellar" RED FLAG AT ALLL?????????
