Well there's also been a wave of 1 letter accounts stealing comments for... Some reason (please help me on this, RU-vid comment clout is not my forte). Maybe it's combating that, or Steve happed to really like this one.
Watching him throw a fit or a tantrum or whatever you want to call it is some of the funniest hockey content out there. Here’s to hoping the Leafs never change and we continue to get these hilarious reactions when the Leafs lose.
As a Habs fan who went through the playoffs with Steve, I live in constant pain that we don’t have a Steve Dangle. Steve is truly an amazing analyst / entertainer
@@kendallbobwile1326 Doesn't do recaps of all the habs games, pretty much disappears for weeks. He's not half as good as steve dangle is. The Hockey guy is for the time being best source for all the nhl teams and he does better covarage of Montreal than scotian.
@@Uroste ok, I had just seen his stuff a while ago during the playoffs. I'm a leafs fan so I don't keep up with him. I assume u know of the hockey guy too 👍
Imagine how great the video after they get swept by the Lightning's going to be. The good thing for Steve is that this Leafs core will be here forever, unless of course Matthews leaves when his contract ends next year, Tavares leaves in the next 4 years, Marner leaves in 2-3 years, etc. They deserve to play on a real team, though, rather than the soulless black hole that is the Leafs.
I find it easier to sleep after a loss, than a win. I'm usually pretty excited after a win. Sleeping off a loss is good, cause tomorrow is just another day.
This is the thing, I genuinely thought habs would lose because the leafs would want revenge for what happened last year. I thought habs would be needing ambulances, and new fathers on their birth certificates
I keep saying it. This team is way to similar personality wise, none of them are willing not break there own mold. I see Tampa, Florida working together like a pack of wolves, defending one another no matter who it is and who makes the most money. From the 1st line to the 4th they all buy in. If things don't improve on the back end we all know what's coming, a first round exit.
They play like an entitled team. Every time they play an "inferior" team, they play as if they would win just by showing up. Halfway through the game look shocked that they are losing and try to mount a comeback. Montreal tonight, recently Calgary, when the penguins were missing half the lineup. I think you may have a point about a lack of good confrontation in the locker room. A good takeaway from this game (and Calgary) is that Marner-Matthews-Bunting showed they can hang when the hits come, problem is the rest of the team (specially the second line!) Can't.
Two weeks ago, I said - somewhere - that the Leafs were defensively weak, had no backchecking from the first two lines, and had miserable netminding. I got dogpiled by the Leafs faithful, but ... show me where I am worng?
Well… when I was watching the game it gave me 2021-playoffs vibes through and through. Cole Caufield in Cole Caufield mode-on is next level dangerous and when Anderson is on? Omg I forgot how good he was. I would really like for the Leafs to go for the long run although I’m not a Leafs fan; it would be so good to see Toronto, and most importantly Steve, happy.
Something about end of February games brings out the best of Dangle videos, creativity, and nearly full super-villain origin story. In case anyone isn’t sure the significance of this, go look at the date of a certain Zamboni driver (WHO WORKS FOR THEM) game…
Pick your poison between Florida or Tampa. Campbell won't be an issue as he had played well for majority of season. It's Marner, Matthews & Tavares will need to step it up if they have to get over the hump if are to beat either Tampa or Florida. Their D will need to play better to
Losing to the worst team in the league that just recently got even worse on purpose last week by dealing Taffoli might just be up there with losing to the Penguinless Penguins and losing to a 42 year old Zamboni driver who works for them… this was shameful.
Habs fan here- no.. no we still laugh about the zamboni driver incident, that'll be your crowning achievement for a long time I think, until you either make it past the first round, or win the cup, and the former is definitely achievable
@Dominic Gibbs The loss to the Pens was more lopsided and yet hurts less, the Pens have the 5th best record in the league and no real playoff history against the Leafs. By contrast, Le Canadiens burning tire fire of a season has them dead last in the standings, behind even the Arizona Holy Smoking Coyotes, and they spanked the Leafs in the playoffs last year.
So... losing to the Coyotes wasn't embarrassing enough? Blowing up a leads against the Avs was cool? Having had the Blues two days ago boss the Leafs around because O'Reilly didn't like the previous game wasn't embarrassing? Everything the Leafs do is an embarrassment.
Awww, poor Leafs fans. "We're cursed." It couldn't possibly be because your teams/coaches/ownership suck. "There's no team like this in sports." Maybe you've never heard of the Cleveland Browns? Stop whining, and admit you suck, and in order to win anything, you have to fix the culture. Defense has been your issue for 55 years. Do something about it.
Oh my god, when he started laughing maniacally at the "wake up call" comment, I lost it. That fuckin killed me hahahaha. "THE TEAM WHO KNOCKED THEM OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS?"
I think a lot of players on other teams still have it their minds that a win against the Habs will be easy to achieve because they are in last place. But, St.Louis has got them playing with a renewed passion; opposing coaches are probably starting to pay attention though.
The Leaf's defensive structure is what's the problem, not the actual defenders. The team rarely gets help from the forwards who just drift into the zone hoping for the breakout. Just look a Kase on the first goal vs Montreal tonight, or the lack of hustle Kerfoot showed on the second knowing the turnover 'wasn't his fault.' The defense and goalies get left exposed way too often so that when mistakes do get made, they're amplified because no one is there to offer help.
I don't agree. They're making bad, even DUMB, decisions. Over and over and over. I mean, when you signal to your defense partner to cover a man, then go cover that man yourself AS WELL, leaving the man you WERE covering wide open in the slot.... that's not system. That's happening between the ears, I saw Holl do that exact thing THREE TIMES in one game... and he's not the only one doing it.
No... the leafs inability to make life difficult for opposing players and get caught puck watching is the problem. Put a bow on that with the FACT that Justin Holl is no longer capable of playing for this team. Its in his head and he needs to move on to a mid-western team and listen to his country music and GTFO.. but good luck to him. As an aside, I hope Muzzin makes a safe and full recovery, but he is not generally well either. Tavares is also fighting it big-time. He does tend to have a stinker patch around mid-season I think Ive noticed.. But just boo to this whole debacle of a game.
As a Habs fan who has watched Steve for a while.... his rants about his leafs is exactly how I feel about my team, sure it is nice that the Leafs always Leaf against us when we play with heart but still, the inevitable is inevitable, how does a team who went to the Stanley Cup final be at the bottom of the league come the following season. Either way, how are you feeling Steve, I feel like watching the Leafs is comedic cause you guys have been consistently cup contenders for the past 5 or 6 years and yet seemingly do nothing with it.... are u at a point they need to win a first-round series to make you believe? My habs shocked me last season and even though I'm the fan who always believes, reality is reality, what do you do with a franchise that can't seem to get the proverbial monkey off its back?
I agree, most of my leaf fan friends have been at that point, some have completely stopped watching till playoffs cause the hope is what kills them. I mean the hope kills me too with the habs but I digress
@@austinfrykas6696 I mean i know that, I just would love for him to reply to my comment in a video..... we've seen him meltdown when they lost to the habs last playoffs so yee
Last year was an anomaly and can't be used to go off for this year. The Habs were bad last year to, not this bad but still bad. They were below .500 and had no business being in the playoffs anyways.
It never crossed my mind until watching this video, but I hope this room Steve records in is well soundproofed. That would be a lot to hear across the house.
T.O. municipal bylaws state: "To reduce noise pollution and unnecessary law enforcement call-outs, all Leafs fans must watch matches for a soundproof room"
I know he was cuz I pay attention . Yet again though it’s Holl Holl Holl. Unfortunately it’s not a known fact because other people don’t seem to pay attention.. even these big fancy RU-vidrs.
Sure but attempting a drop pass in front of pitlick to matthews who is not even ready, that could have easily been a minus one. Pitlick crashing into mrazek on the break away after didn't help the leafs either. I think he got stunned the rest of the game.
yep, he had the bad drop pass and an ill advised penalty in the first, he was their best D man the rest of the game. I think fans upset he got trucked by Suzuki to end the second. Rielly and Brodie were horrenous tonight and Mrazek was outside the net 3 of 5 goals
I thought Holl and Dermott were the best d man we had tonight which was saying something. Holl some stupid mistakes especially the one that led to the Mrazek crash but he wasn't that bad
Caps fan here, great video. I feel your pain, I can relate. We went through all the same things as the Leafs on the way to our lone Stanley Cup. Even now they drive me nuts with their play from game to game. Hang in there, it will happen one day and it is so worth it when it does.
Difference is, the Caps have made the Finals, and the second round more times in the last 5 years than the Leafs have made the second round this millenium.
Yeah, but firing George McPhee and replacing him with someone better was THE KEY. The Leafs are headed towards needing to do the same because Kyle Dubious has written the team into a corner.
I have such a bad hearing loss that I need to watch everything with Closed Captioning (although this one I might have been okay without). The closed captioning for this one was *chefs kiss* Steve sitting in the back beside the cup before his hysterical laughter and screams. Closed Caption reads: "GUTTERAL SCREAM FROM THE ABYSS" Well done!
Me picturing Steve screaming in his room at 10 or 11 at night is hilarious, then I see it on the video and it's just as much fun, this team is ruining our lives 😂
This will be second to round 1 game7 that’s just joking to be titled !?!!?!?!?!? And be like 12 minutes of Steve screaming with intermittent joker laughing
This was the only game this season where I was actually yelling at the tv. Justin Holl might as well have a red jersey on, Mrazek was Swiss cheese out there and man that defensive core gave away pucks like they were chicken wings. Holy what a show that was.
@@mirandaf1147 I mean two people can have the same thought about a super popular cartoon that an entire generation watched, it’s what I thought as well.
Perhaps the wake up call, which honestly is pretty ridiculously funny, should be from Marner, Nylander, Tavares, and Auston Matthews to a slightly lesser extent to actually take their defensive responsibilities seriously. They just floated around aimlessly in their own end, waiting for passes that never came. They are paid way too much to slack off and be passive. And you are right. Justin Holl is no longer a playable option. And thanks for reminding people that Jake Muzzin is a human being before he is a hockey player. He may never come back. Very sad and shocking to watch that happen.
Thank you for thinking about Jake Muzzin's life outside hockey. Head injuries are no joke, and I'm praying for him to be ok. I love hockey, but hate to see anyone injured. I appreciate all you do, Steve! :)
Hey Steve, if it makes you feel better, know that yesterday I had a miserable evening and opening my phone to see the score at 9pm really brought me a smile; partially because it was good to see this team and Caufield go on a streak, but partially because I knew to expect a killer LFR - and you didn't disappoint.
We are bottom 6 in the league in hits EVERY SEASON since 16/17 when we lost to the Caps in the first round. Including dead last in the playoffs last year. Tired of being outplayed physically every single game this year.
Sigh. UNTIL the Leaf's figure out how to play PLAYOFF-CALIBER (I'm American) defense, they're sunk. NONE of us take this team seriously just because they score a lot of goals in the regular season. NONE OF US.
Ya. Good times. One of my favorite nights of the NHL season is the night the Leafs are eliminated from the playoffs. For the last 4 years, I have watched every second of their game 7 (2020 was game 5, but whatever,) and waited impatiently to see Steve scream about his shitty team being eliminated again.
I remember seeing the remarks by the coach, and I instantly had more examples that made as much sense. Like turning on a stove top element and leaning on it to remind myself it's hot.
Since when is 55 years of the same thing the "Twilight Zone?" I'd say it's more like the socialism of the NHL. Tried so many different ways, but always fails.
