@@erikmacaluso disagree. His videos are better when the game is actually worth analyzing. I don't come here for a cheap laugh. This guy that can barely skate actually knows hockey and says what needs to be said about this garbage league.
Now you know how Flames fans felt after the 7-1 Vancouver game, everybody kept saying “they’re fine, it was a one-off” while we were thinking it’s gonna be 2019 all over again😂
they're pretty much all goals that he would be lucky or a god to stop. He completely shut down multiple 2 on 1s and open slot shots from Stamkos in the 1st.
@@TheHat--Man bruh you’re not a habs fan if you think that price is the reason they lost/had 6 GA, it’s the last 4 games and we have to lose, don’t like it? Don’t watch the team but don’t watch when they draft a generational talent and start winning
@@TheHat--Man lol bro price is 90% of the reason yall went so deep in last years playoffs. He can steal hockey games. You’re seriously whining about a 10million dollar goalie when your bum ass team is in 32nd spot rn. Id be cheering for the draft already lol. Who cares about performance this year. Yall have known for a few months you werent making the playoffs. Whats the point about bitchin about a team thats in 32nd lmao
@@pNcChronic466 yeah. Unfortunately, that is not how professional athletes think.. as much as it's a team sport, they care a lot about their individual stats and would definitely not want to throw games for some kid to join the team 4 years from now...
1:27 “Raise your hand if you have been personally victimized by the Toronto Maple Leafs” is probably too long to fit into an LFR intro, but it would be funny to put in one
Thank you Drew for the secret bionk footage! To quote Stamkos, "we don't need to worry about the regular season we just need to get in." Said before the regular season. On that note I am looking forward to 7 games of Tampa Toronto as a Toronto Soap Opera fan.
Omg that INTRO XD I mostly wanted your take on this, because the news outlets were all yelling "this is an omen" but I'm dubious. Like, the matchups are pretty well Set, Toronto has no reason to risk injury to their players, everyone is resting. The leafs don't need to win this game the way they would a playoff game.
@@davidgauthier1099 I made my comment before watching the whole video, and though I still feel the game doesn't REALLY indicate anything, Steve DOES make a very good point that it's a huge morale booster for the lightning. They've been on a bit of a slump, and here's their presumed opponents for the first round getting Absolutely Roasted. It's not a great data point to throw out there this close to the playoffs.
I get a kick out of watching previous year's videos by Steve detailing all the heartbreaking moments in the first round of the playoffs. And the one about getting beat by the Zamboni driver is still one of his best, LOL
Stroke either way “Oh my god! The Leafs win! The Leafs win! We did it!”…then he follows over dead Or… “They did it again! The Leafs lose again! Can they EVER win?!”…falls over dead
I haven't had cable since 2007. The next day's highlights are more than enough. Your day after rants have become essential viewing and bring great delight to this old codgers heart which began to be broken back when Sittler, Ellis, Salming, and McKenny took to the ice. Few franchises have exhibited the hubris that these Leafs do season after season, as if the Cup is their entitlement. Playoff hockey is not regular season hockey. It won't be long before we learn if they've learned the lessons of the past. We know their talent. This playoffs will be about their character.
I don't appreciate being called out the second the video started but I will continue watching nonetheless because you're right, that's exactly why I'm here
You stuck through a lot of bad years Steve, that’s dedication! Hopefully this year the leafs can pull off some playoff magic like they did in 93 94 and one year when sundin was playing in 2000’s. Go leafs go This team is too good to not get out of the 1st round
We had lots of pirates in Florida, so much so that here in Tampa Bay we have a yearly parade. It’s called Gasparilla. It’s like Mardi Gras but behind the floats and bead-throwers is a giant pirate ship firing off canons. It’s awesome.
Do folks forget we hung 7 on Vasilene a couple weeks ago? Tampa swung back. All Atlantic division series are going the distance. Stay off Twitter folks.
Good job. You got one on Vasy in the regular season! It's not like he has a history of shutting down teams in the playoffs. I have NO DOUBT you'll hang 7 on the best goalie in the league, come playoff time. Hmmm...IF you had a choice between starting Soup or Vasy, I'm CERTAIN every TOR fan would have Soup! LMAO!
it’s actually funny because last year I read the bolts finished last season 12-11-1 which is very close to what they are finishing this year, looked tired and didn’t think they had a chance but they turned it on and walked through the playoffs, another thing to mention about the last game is how big a factor McDonough can be as he didn’t play in the leafs win but played in this drubbing. im a bolts fan and we haven’t played well the last month of so but it was nice to see that they could still go and take a teams heart if they feel like it. #gobolts
Oh, Toronto fans should be terrified. Steve said it a few weeks ago, the East is full of scary, spooky monsters, and Tampa is the biggest monster out there.
@@Outta-hz1ej You’re right, and it bit them hard. They clearly took that lesson to heart, and could be the first team in almost 4 decades to threepeat as Cup Champs.
You do realize these kinda videos have also created a hook for a lot of people too. Your insight and manner is always worth a watch, whether your screamy it was 4 to 1 or smug Matthews good nights. I’m no leafs fan. I’m here to watch Steve Dangle gone from Toronto Fan Boy to legit place to see news and be entertained. The David Ayers meltdown brought me here, and I subbed and never left. Also catch the Dangit’s and Plays of the Week and the podcasts. Keep doing you.
When you were doing your excited bit about the TBL players my dog started howling as if you were another dog howling (or a fire truck). You should be proud!
Toronto didn’t choose to get crushed by the Bolts. Tampa woke up and said, “Oh yeah, we’re the 2 time defending Stanley Cup Champions, time to remind everybody of that by stomping Toronto.” By the way, Toronto had better start trying if they want any chance against Tampa. I want a good series, after all. Go Bolts!
@@stevet5087 Then they’d better try harder in the playoffs, or this will be another short series, like it was the last time Tampa played a series against a Canadian team.
This game may be a “one-off” and they can “burn the tape”, BUT it plants a seed of doubt and can mess with confidence. On the other hand…It certainly seemed like they were playing “rope-a-dope”….let’s hope! They can’t get distracted but the “after-whistle shenanigans” during the first round…
I think instead of growing doubt this game will be a good heads up reminder for the buds. I don’t see either team scoring that many goals come play off time
@@bBrooksR How soon we forget the 8-0 thrashing the islanders took in game 5 of the east final at the hands of said Tampa Bay Lightning. Edit: If it can happen to the islanders, it can happen to the leafs.... BEWARE FELLOW LEAFS FANS!
You are a f***ing funny guy! I only got watching your vids about a month ago and now in the morning after a leafs game when I'm getting ready for work listening to this is the first thing I do...... this, coffee, then poop
Lol great intro. The only reason I'm here is because I'm a bolts fan and you do such thorough coverage I couldn't miss it. Love you bro. P.S Brayden Point didn't play either.
Im not to worried about this game. It was one of those nights when everything tampa did the puck went in Remember we smoked them 6-2 last time we played them so you knew they would come out flying. We been playing pretty good the last 13 games or so beat sone really good teams and before last night game we where 3-0-1 against the big boys of the east so people chill we didnt have matthews we didnt have our starter in net.We will judge them come playoffs
I think the fact that everyone is so certain the leafs will lose this year in first round is a good sign. Usually it’s the other way around. I would be worried if there was an abundance of hope. It’s all doubt and apprehension, just as it should be. That means the leafs know people aren’t counting them in, meaning it’s time to prove. Previous years people kept thinking they had it in the bag when they clearly didn’t. Not the case any more. I like real energy now. A good sign.
@@slipperynodd578 Boston is not the same team as before. The leafs should have never been favourites in the previous years is my point. They should have always been perceived as underdogs, even against Montreal last year. They are playing for respect now. Before they already had it when they hadn’t earned it.
i am a habs fan, yesterday before this game i told my friend, who is also a habs fan, i think the Leafs can win this year, he said i disagree, but he has a hard head, honestly i though they could win a playoff series this year, i still think they can, but this game man talk about timing 😂
After years of torture being an Ottawa born Sens fan and the excuse of having family in Toronto and loving the city, I'm learning what it's like to be a Leafs fan.. and it might be worse because with Ottawa you already know there's no hope going into games. GLG.
Steve was correct that Clifford would only be fined, but that really surprised me. No one on the broadcast mentioned it, but the last ‘swing’ Clifford made towards Perry actually clunked the helmet of a linesman in the middle of the fray, and I thought for sure that would come up during review.
I do love reading the comments and seeing a lot of Leaf fans think Keefe is some tactical genius for this game. Just galaxy brain moves so that Tampa doesn’t know their lineups, play style, goalie etc. Acting like video hasn’t existed for years to help with scouting and preplanning. Lol guys, every team gets pumped at some point. It’s not a big master plan by Keefe. Edit: typo
@@leafsfan1539 true…but you’ll be there very soon after us.. which has always been the order of things! Hahah!! Oh.. last year was an exception when we sent you there first. My bad
Bolt fan here, watches either way, but did enjoy this one. As for the playoff it depends on Vasy if Bolts make a match of it. He has not been good for a few weeks. Still makes some fancy saves, but he had 3 games in a row that he had 1 SOG and 1 GA. Just off. Sad to say it seems to go along with what is happening in Europe. While I would love to see a 3 peat (unless playoff just lights a fire I don't see it). Would be cool to see if Leaf finally make it all the way. 3-1 lead loss to the Habs maybe their version of the 4-0 sweep by Columbus. The "this crap is not going to happen anymore" team defining series.
Steve in the past the Leafs have been bullied out of the Stanley Cup playoffs first round. My take on this with resting Matthews and Campbell is that it was a "we can bully back now" game.....on purpose to make other teams take note. Total penalty minutes (PIM) 112 with Leafs having 63 PIM and Lightning 49 PIM.
Steve I want to thank you, I have battled depression most of my adult life and my therapist keeps telling me to do something that makes me smile, laugh or feel good. Well being a diehard oilers fan and not liking your Your team for obvious reasons…. Well you haven’t cured my depression but you have definitely brightened my days when your laffs lose especially 8-1 lol good luck getting swept in the playoffs
The Leafs will play the Bolts and the Bolts will sweep the Leafs. 1st Round in a nutshell. This team stands no chance in hell. The Lightning had a blast last night, they were having fun, enjoying themselves, they know the Leafs pose no threat, it's ice pond hockey.
@@Leafs-in3dj There's a difference. This was the Lightning flexing their muscles. They have been playing like they don't care, but after being beaten 6-2 they just came out and decided to to show the Leafs who's boss and the Leafs folded like scared children while the Bolts pounded them mercilessly. They didn't even put much effort into it, just flexed their muscles. Also, last season they ended the regular Season with a 12-11-2 record only to win the Cup again. It shows the Lightning can turn it on and off whenever they want. TML only wins a game if the stars align.
@@isaacfernandes560 no matthews, no Muzzin, no Campbell, 4-5th string goalie. Along with the fact that Justin Holl who is still somehow an NHL defencemen was playing on the first pair. Relax.
@@isaacfernandes560 your points would actually make sense if the leafs were playing a roster that looks anything like it will in the playoffs. or like it did in the 6-2 game.
"that's progress" As a person who only learned of you (or any competent hockey sportscasters in Ontario) because of last season's loss. You made me tune back in.
