I am a gastric bypass post-op patient who also happens to be a primary health care provider. After many years talking to and treating patients on their own weight loss surgery journeys, I decided to have surgery myself. On my channel I discuss my own challenges, successes and updates regarding the process.

Thanks for sharing so thoughtfully. Taking the time to realize what’s happening and making the adjustments to stay focused on our goals and desired behaviors is ongoing. We will come out on other side healthy! Prayers continue for your husband and you. Take care.

This is so relatable Kaki. I'm also Going through and extensive period where i have almost nothing to do, so it makes me think about food a lot. And idk what to do with these thoughts... I do recognize that sometimes i eat without hunger but just out boredom, even if it's still healthy food and it bothers me somehow. Thanks for talking about this and keeping it real. Wishing a speedy recovery to your husband, stay strong, we got this.

We do! Like you said, even though my food choices were within what I planned on eating, just not feeling in total control bothers me 😞

Life happens.. we are all human. I gained back some weight over the holidays because of stress. But I went back to tracking my foods, meal prepping and planning a month ago and I feel better. We just have to jump back on that wagon of life and get it back together sometimes. Praying your husband can be home with you soon!

I am so sorry that you and your husband is going through his hospitalization. I can understand eating for non-hunger. I was 1 of 75 positions cut at my main job and now I'm job hunting to support my family and I just want to eat. I am not eating (binging, as I used to) but I so want to. God bless you and your husband.

Praying for you! I’m struggling with this liquid diet. I have another 6 weeks until I’m on a full regular diet. Down 14.5 lbs in total. Surgery was last Friday, Jan 19. Also we had to put our dog down last night 😢

Hi Kaki! I'm sorry you and your husband are still going through this and I hope he has a quick and full recovery and is home soon. I'm 15 weeks post op and down exactly 50 pounds as of this morning. I'm doing well but it's the lack of bathroom mobility that I was unprepared for. I'm not sure I would call it "constipation" exactly, since I'm sure there's just not that much to evacuate with how little we eat.... but you can't loose weight if you don't "go". So, I'm finding that frustrating. I'm only able to have a movement about once or twice a week. I'm eating vegetables and fruits and have a softener twice a day. I've also added a fiber supplement, but there's still not much relief. I've had to use suppositories to get anything moving and don't want to rely on those. Any advise is welcomed!

Hey there! Congrats on your progress! I struggled with the same thing. Thankfully it has gotten better with time. It was a big shock to me as well as this had never been an issue for me. Have you tried doing miralax daily? It was a big help for me. I have also had to take Linzess, which is a prescription medication that you might ask your health care provider about.

Kaki, I will keep you and your husband in my prayers. Allow yourself some grace….. the grace that you so easily give to others….. isn’t that always the way….. we are so much kinder to others than we are to ourselves. Recognition is key, and you have done that with how you are feeling lately. Keep tracking. Being in a hospital room for long periods is difficult. Think of some things you could occupy yourself with….. maybe write a short letter to someone you want to catch up with, try a little meditation, listen to a book on tape, or some music. Be kind to yourself…..❤

Love your vlogs. I had bariatric gastric bypass on Oct 11, 2023 and my hair is getting very thin and falling out. I'm taking all of my vitamins especially the bariatric vitamins and biotiin. What can you recommend to use, any different vitamins and hair products? Thanks Bonnie

Hi there! Congrats on your surgery! You are right on time with the hair loss. I had terrible hair loss too, but the great news- it came back thicker and fuller than ever. Honestly, there is not anything that you can do to prevent it. It just happens, as scary as it is, just know it will stop. Here is a product that I used to cover thin spots and make my hair look thicker. It really helped: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084P612RX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also, here is an excellent video from Dr. John Pilcher explaining hair loss and why it just happens: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o2ZCsTuQaD4.html
