Hey Steven! I just wanted to thank you for you entire video series on how to become an electrician. The step by step explanations were amazing. You were one of my biggest resources during the whole process. I am so happy to announce that I got in! I start this Monday Local 150 =) THANK YOU!!!!
You have incredible patience, man! Definitely something you pick up as a parent or anyone in a leadership or managerial position. You received variations of the same question a dozen or more times yet answered politely and thoroughly each time. I realize some people were probably catching the livestream late, so they didn't catch some of these answers in real-time earlier on. I watched it from the beginning (a year after it was recorded), and by the end, I could've practically taken over the Q & A myself, haha. This channel is a *fantastic resource*, and I hope your Local recognizes what an asset you are and kicks up your pay, because you're kind of like a recruiter. I can honestly say that if I had not discovered your channel, I wouldn't have been half as psyched to pursue this career path. So, thank you!
Someone talked about having to drive out to the testing center from around the area... I flew to Portland from Los Angeles, twice. Once for the test, and again for the interview. I took sick days at work. If you really want it, you’ll do it no matter what. 👍
Enjoyed your videos. I'm currently active duty Air Force as an Aircraft Electrician and I'm considered transitioning to a regular electrician. My separation date is soon-ish and your videos have been helpful.
Damn. I missed it live. You should definitely think about doing these a lot more often! Also my test date is on August 10th and I’m already studying haha
Great stuff! Thank you. I've been studying for my aptitude test with khan. Did you struggle with how Khan explains things or is that just me? Some of the courses feel like they're backwards.
Dang just missed the stream I think ! Hope you do it again sometime. I go to tech school for construction electrician and then work afternoon so I get home late but hopefully I'll catch it some time.
Have you ever thought about doing a podcast? I feel like there’s no electrician podcasts and I know podcasts are the new thing, I’d definitely be interested if you started making those
Hey Tony! I've thought about it! At this point I'm going to focus my time and energy on making the videos, but it's something that I've considered. I'm definitely much better at preparing/ putting together a video than I am at sitting down and talking uncut/ unscripted for a while. It's something that I'm naturally very good at but I'd like to get better at it. Maybe I could script out podcasts just like videos and have at least a layout for how the episode would go. Definitely something to consider. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks for all the information you offer bro🙏🏼 I have my aptitude test at the end of august local 428. Decided not to sign up for the unindentured apprenticeship because of the job security, but I hope to still have a good chance of getting in👍🏼
@@otakuConn I just got in as an apprentice back in March this year👍🏼 Don’t give up and do whatever it takes, I ended up trying the UA program and it helped me get ranked #1 when I reinterviewed
How old were you when you got married, and how was your financial position? This is coming from someone who wants to get married young, and have an idea of the financial place needed.
I wish i you elaborate in more detail on the fire alarm trouble shooting story. Also if you work on fire alarm system, do you have trouble with these ground fault on the system? and are there a easy way to find the ground fault?
I'm really happy to hear that! That's really the goal of this channel. I really appreciate you watching! Comments like this are what keep me going, so thank you! ⚡️
I'm a journeyman millwright getting tired of all the travel and wear on my body. Looking to join IBEW here in tennessee. They aren't doing apprentice applications until January. I have 15+ years of industrial maintenance and electrical work. The hall I spoke with offered to give me a hands on test for CW/CE program. Said I could possibly test in at CE1 and then go to apprentiship for last 2 terms. What's your stance on the cw program? I need the work and money for now but it's the slow time for us millrats. Lol
Can someone help me? The homeowner desires that a ceiling fan with light kits be installed in 5 different rooms. Each fan contains a light kit that can accomodate four 60-watt lamps. Each fan motor draws a current of 1.8 amperes when operated on high speed. It is assumed that each fan can operate more than three hours at a time and therefore must be considered a continuos-duty device. The fans are to be connected to a 15-ampere circuit. Because the devices are continuos duty, the circuit current must be limited to 80% of the continuos connected load. How many fans can be connected to a single 15-ampere circuit? I have an answet i just dont know if i did it correcltly 😅 TIA
Dumb question but... ur an commercial electrician ya? If you can do commercial does that mean you can also do residential? I wanna chase money in the commercial side but am also interested in knowing and maybe eventually doing residential work.
Are beards allowed? I have a full short length beard, not long enough to be a problem but there is still quite a bit of hair. I see you have a little facial hair. So can electricians have facial hair?
I’m 29, about to get married. Been working in various warehouses and delivery driver positions. Thinking about the electrical trade. Would I make enough to support a family? I feel like I need a career where there’s opportunities. There’s none in the warehouse industry.
Hey man...I just found ur channel...I recently finished an apprenticeship in South Africa and have passed my trade test in "industrial electrical maintenance" (sorry the terms differ internationally)...could you please help me with some advice as to how I could securely apply internationally?I'm not married..have no kids I'm young and am looking to migrate... thanks for your assistance
