Omg THIS!!!! Her text enraged me when she said that! SHE was offended?! How dare she feel she was entitled to HIS million dollars when she lied, financially ruined him, stole from him, threatened to kill him, had an affair---then ACTUALLY killed him and hurt his family.😂 Unbelievable he would ensure his KIDS were priority and not her lmao
Never! Lori knew those children were buried in the backyard! In her jail phone call just moments before JJ was found, Lori asked Chad if he was OK. Chad says they're looking. Lori says "in the house?" Chad replies "No they're searching the property " then there's a pause. Lori asks, "Are they seizing stuff...again?"
They couldn't just leave the kids and run away together - they needed the insurance money from the deaths of Tammy and Charles. But......Charles had become so suspicious that he changed his beneficiary from his wife to his sister without lori knowing.
I have to wonder if he told Lori that he changed it...would he still maybe be alive? (Not trying to blame him at all, he seemed like a wonderful man) I doubt he would though, she would of prob had him killed out of spite and anger anyways. I just wish the cops would have listened to him when he was begging for help. It breaks my heart every time I see the video of him and the cops talking.
I see a lot of people in the chat asking why Lori couldn't have just given the children to a grandparent or other guardian while she and Chad lived out their honeymoon bliss, and the simple answer is MONEY. With JJ and Tylee gone, Lori could pocket almost $6K per month in social security funds, as both Tylee's dad and JJ's adopted dad (Charles) were deceased. Lori was also pretty furious that Charles had changed the beneficiary of his life insurance policy to his sister (Kay Woodcock) instead of Lori. Chad and Lori seemed to be counting on that $1 million to fund their lifestyle until the end of the world came, but when that didn't pan out they were pretty content with using Tammy Daybell's policy payout (which Chad had just increased a month or so before she died.). That amount was just under $500K but that would last them (I'm sure they thought) until the date in August when Jesus was comin' to town and they would be ushered into the kingdom of heaven forever.
I don’t think Chad ever truly believed the end was coming. he found his grooming partner and he was elated with that. In my opinion after listening to Zulema’s testimony, that’s exactly what he used Lori to do. And it seems odd to me that Alex was the only male involved in any of this. David Warwick was on the fringes, evidently too smart to get on board. No, Chad was collecting his harem.
@@FloraDubya Right, but if he DIDN'T truly believe that the "end days" were coming then wouldn't common sense lead him to conclude that eventually people were going to start asking where the kids were? I mean, UNLESS you really buy the "we're all going to be dead soon" theory HOW would you get expect to get away with their absence, month after month? Although, I'm just thinking, they were all so out of touch with reality - they had no clue what a digital trail they were leaving and that these things would actually catch up with them rather quickly.
@@grammichal6759 she didn’t even include her firstborn son. It seemed like Archibald was trying to make him out to be money grubber. Evidently Lori didn’t teach him that, thankfully. I got tired of him saying did she “teach” you this, that and the other thing. After listening to that recording I felt so bad for Colby. He was so heartbroken. and Lori never did answer his questions.
You have such a balanced, rational, unbiased, "call it how it is" perspective about this INSANE case, it's so refreshing!!Thank you so much 🥹 It seems like most creators are taken aback by how crazy this case is, and get caught up in the insanity. That's what sets your channel apart from others and why I look forward to your channel's content. Always grow, but never change the core essence of you!
How awful to hear Charles messages. He’s such a nice man! “Please stop using my credit cards”, he asks so nicely. Never imagining that murder was part of the plan.
I just saw an interview with Charles outside his home a long time ago. He was desperately laying out his need for intervention for Lori and protection for himself. There’s another interview of him outside of the hotel where Lori was staying. He was trying to get the police to do something to get her help. It’s all on police body cam. Yes, he seems like such a nice man! How Lori had all these men under her sway I don’t know. Jezebel. When she first met Chad at some conference of his she was reported to have come on to him really strong and say she was going to stand by his table til all of them were sold. I believe she was a fan of his books before she met him. He seems like a buffoon not a major Svengali love interest!
He seems like he was such a good person from the footage Ive seen of him. I felt so bad when I saw the body cam footage of him trying to explain the situation. 💔 R.I.P to all of these vile people's victims. Throw the whole group away.
I feel for the jury. But the prosecution is keeping it simple. The prosecution . Brilliant . I would keep it simple but definitely touch on the cult aspect. Only cause it be my duty as a lawyer . Got give whole picture of her. And prosecution is doing that brilliantly. Overload can deseitive a jury.
When Tylee’s dad died Lori got 60k this is a tale as old as time. Charles left his sister Kay the 100k because she would get JJ and support him. That’s what he presumed.
Interesting thing about Tammy and the Daybell kids: They are not inclined to be contrary, inquisitive, critical, or defiant toward their husband/father. The kids still believe their father was framed for these crimes and possibly STILL believe that investigators confused raccoon and pioneer bones with the missing children. According to Chad's sister-in-law Heather, Tammy was very cold & distant to her - ignoring her at church, not saying hello if they crossed paths, and rarely visiting with the family even though they lived very close to one another in Rexburg. This was because Chad had told Tammy that Heather was an evil person, consumed by false "conspiracy theories" about him, and had only bad intentions. SO - if Chad told Tammy that she was not to listen to emails or texts from his friend Lori's demonic husband I have a feeling Tammy would have complied. (Heather, btw, was extremely skeptical of Chad and his fringe belief systems, fantastical novels passed off as truth, and what she saw as twisting the teachings of their LDS church. No one would listen to her, of course, and she was ostracized within the family and their LDS ward, to a certain extent. When the children's remains were found she felt vindicated and did receive apologies from Daybell family members.)
@@FloraDubya when they requested a pre-trial conference with her and Chad and their attorneys for strategy planning, it would have been great if the judge had told them to just use their portals lol.
I'm a new subscriber & thrilled I found you. This case has been hard to follow, & you make it make sense, in the best way possible regarding this weird case! Thanks for that!
I’ve been following this for so long I’m not objective at all so hearing you talk about it as a new person to the details is so interesting. I was worried it was so weird and nuanced the jury couldn’t follow but clearly it’s going well
Agreed. And also that we can say things like “the LDS is NOT a cult” because I know several people of that religion and they are fantastic people. What LVB and CB(and anyone who followed them) was done apart from LDS and shouldn’t leave us with a bad taste in our mouths from those who had nothing to do with it
@One Blessed Nana Agreed, I think all religions look weird from the standpoint of another religion, and literally all of them look weird from an atheist standpoint. It's not like the beliefs are to be considered weird to call it a cult. Two factors that are always important to me, is are you allowed to leave? And are you allowed to be critical? A lot of faiths skirt the last one a bit, but you're usually allowed to just leave. The not being allowed to leave plus no critique allowed means I consider scientology a cult.
@@saskia8567 absolutely. I’ve been in the Christian church my entire life, and each denomination is different. I find one i align the most with but i can walk away whenever I want without anyone saying a word. When your faith is too controlled it’s no longer faith. While I don’t agree with everything that’s believed in my current location, so know we can respectfully disagree and still sit side by side in service (or not). When you have people trying to control/manipulate you, there’s a huge issue
Than you Peter for sharing this with us. Watching on replay…gosh this and Leticia Stauch are so very tough, tragic and almost unbelievable…must be super hard for the defence lawyers…😔😔
DUH , they didn't want each other as much as they wanted the insurance money, the SS benefits, power, and prestige. if this was ever about love no one would end up dead and Chad wouldn't be willing to throw Lori under the bus. Chad denied even knowing Lori to the police.
Thank you Peter for these videos re the Harley and Colby… was cathartic to watch and hear your words after watching Harley’s testimony live yesterday. I was very touched and delighted to join in with your prayer for these two children…I was brought up a Catholic but now am more aligned with Budism and chanted some ‘namyohorengekyo’ throughout your beautiful prayer 🙏💕
Because of the time difference with Singapore, I can't get the Live easily so it's a true pleasure to know I can count on the replay few hours later... LYK & Peter are addictive!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you Peter for continuing to discuss this case from a legal prospective. I genuinely appreciate your knowledge and insight and I always learn something new from every video that you post.
Thank you so much for covering this Peter. I can listen to you, but the trial is too much for me. I thought the Utred movie was good, but am anxious to hear your take!
It's hard to hear seasoned and professional detectives become emotional with some of these horrific things they have to report on and relive in the telling of them. They will never be able to un-see these.
Watching the replay … I was in the vallow courtroom… the financials were admitted today for Lori, Tylee,Charles, jj, and Alex … it’s clear how things were being set up and positioned 😮… Colby’s testimony was extremely sad … the jailhouse phone call was heartbreaking 💔
What was your body feeling like in the room “emotionally” and “physically” wondering if it’s a somber dead feeling in there or creepy demonic spirit filled
@@juliefarkas8949 I didn’t know you could claim child support on adopted children “JJ” and Tylee’s dad was not Charles correct? I wasn’t following the case close enough, I do believe Alex was definitely not acting in self defense and Charles should be here today
Thank you for your coverage! I grew up in an more extreme Mormon family! (Not saying all Mormons are. But my family… is eccentric) Love to give any insight
Regarding the question Valerie Cuevas asked at around 45:52 about when Chad's prophecies didn't come to pass, I feel like a book called When Prophecy Fails would be instructive for the group. It is the record of a UFO group with religious leanings whose leader made prophecies about apocalyptic events. When the events did not transpire, the leader would push back or add to the story. It turns out there is a tendency in human behavior to double down in instances like this against all evidence. It's a really good read, and no one is murdered by the person making the predictions. So there's that.
@@nicolewheeler5837 Welcome! I rarely get to drop my Flying Saucer Fandom around here. My friend Aaron at the Saucer Life podcast did a synopsis of it in his archives if you don't have time to read the whole book. He's a historian who looks at UFOs and groups in the context of modern US history.
The death penalty is State sanctioned murder. It is almost never applied fairly or equitably, and almost always to people who either cannot participate in their defense or cannot afford a private attorney.
I just found your Chanel nice to hear a professional take on cases .Question would you take this case if you were hired as defense? (not sure if you are a defense lawyer )
Is it just me or are there a lot of ads during this video? I wonder why this is happening. I never saw even one ad before this. Just wondering? Thank you Peter for another great video!!!
Makes sense now, why she tried to take off with Charle's phone. She tried to limit damage control, unfortunately he was a target after he tried to confront her. Keep your cards close to your chest in this game of life.
Kay offered Lori the insurance money to get her to let them have JJ but she declined. She knew that lump sum wasn’t enough to keep her in the lifestyle she was accustomed to, especially not in Hawaii. No she wanted that monthly social security check to keep being paid. JJ no doubt would be on SS for life.Lori was already drawing benefits. Tylee’s could have been paid until she was 24 as long as she was still a student.
The worst of everything to me is why JJ was taped around the mouth, legs, arms multiple layers to me means he was alive at the time? And to dismember and burn that beautiful girl. Laurie is as guilty as them all! She disturbed! The background of LDS faith is strict but obviously they put their own twist. Brain washing!
🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂Your face @ 39:52 .....yes these freaks are so weird! What's really scary is there are more of people just like them that walk on this earth! Pure evil! Keep the ones you love close!
They evidently thought he was just being over dramatic. Or maybe thought he was exaggerating to get them to go after her for taking his stuff, and the kids.
@@FloraDubya remember all the scrutiny of the note Moab officers who dealt with Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito?? I watched one of the police body cam footage of Charles desperately trying to get help for Lori. I saw another police body cam outside his home. CHILLING & DAMNING LOOKING AT IT NOW!!
@@grammichal6759 I know, I felt like they did Charles the same way as they did Gabby. Just ignoring the truth that was right in their face. In my opinion cops don’t pay close enough attention to domestic violence.
16:52 I wish Lori would have too. Charles tried. He called the police and told them everything. Lori passed the psych evaluation. Charles has his hands tied.
Your unbiased take is the only reason I subscribe to your channel. Many insert their own feelings, as a Christian woman, I live my life as best as I can, none of us are sin free, but these people are sick, twisting theory's words to fit their own narratives, thank you for your honest reporting.
And OMG hearing Zulema say Chad and Lori told her she died in a previous life when she was 14 and was raped and dismembered, I hope that's not what happed to Tylee
I've been thinking about that too. I wondered if Alex may have raped her before killing her with Chad's help. I know it sounds a bit far fetched but so does most everything in this case.
@@ambermay6884 I have been wondering sadly, if Uncle Alex SA'd Tylee, we know he had a sex addiction and acted VERY inappropriately with his sister Lori for God knows how long. I am supised that's not part of Loris defense, to say her brother abused her too.
So glad to have an update from you on this case and get ur opinion on the lawyering. I think overall both sides are being well represented which is so important to stick the landing on this one
Thanks Peter. Even though the subject matter is behind a bit... I appreciate your opinion. I guess with no live feed from the court is what we expexted with this case.
Thank you Peter for all that you do. I so wish my husband had. An attorney like you. We’ve learned a lot and if we ever need another one (not on wood) we would definitely want you!!! Thank you for being the person that you are!!
Rewatch crew….had to pick up granddaughters from school. Liked before I listened. Having knowledge of a branch of the FLDS church I don’t find what is being testified to to be terribly shocking. I wish the State of Utah would seriously investigate the wrong doings of these off branches of mainstream Mormonism. A plea of I was brainwashed is not a self-defense for me if I’m a juror. You know right from wrong at a early age. I feel like lust, money and power are more likely the motivation for both of the accused.
I'm really sad I missed the live today so I didn't get to ask u on it what your thoughts are after hearing the defenses questions to Zulema today that made him appear as though he is believing the things Lori talked about and how Zulema had visions etc, without it being from Chad or Lori's mouth. Oh and I'm dying to hear your thoughts on the judge in stauch trial allowing the jurors to ask their own questions to each witness! Hopefully I make this week's live on it to hear what u think! It's so perfect and it sucks this is the 1st time I've ever seen that! 😪
Hidden True Crime posts the audios daily at around 4pm, as soon as its released after court.. Zulema pronounced her name as Zoo lem uh..just so you know..lol..
Unfortunately, that’s not how sick, psycho murderers operate! These crimes are beyond sickening! I just hope & pray that JJ, Tylee, Charles & Tammy didn’t suffer very long before they passed! I know some people who belong to “The Church Of Ladder Day Saints” & I can say this with certainty…I have one friend who is a member & believe me…It’s a weird & very strange religion. I was in the company of a few members, because they actually make visits to your home to check on your belief status, and especially, if they haven’t seen you for awhile at a service! I was straight up with my friend & told her to open her eyes & ears! These people have false religious beliefs & they believe in false prophets! Very Scary!
They actually called Charles “Ned” because there was a Ned who was a Mormon leader a long long time ago. I remember Googling it when this all started. They gave Ned a last name, too so I googled the full name but now I can’t remember the last name. I did try to look up the full name about two years ago, but they had since taken the website info on Ned down. Honest to goodness.
I thought Lori was involved in JJ's death at her house in her locked bedroom. Interesting that he was buried intact in his pj's with a kid's blanket. That sounds like a woman's touch. Interesting that such care was taken with her adopted kid while her own daughter was mutilated by Chad & maybe Alex. Obviously, the more insurance someone had, the darker their spirit was.
Peter.. I agree with you, that the State is doing a masterful job of putting this complex puzzle together… These evil people are going to pay for their sins.
Classic fantasy writing grounds you first in something familiar (legit LDS teaching) then spins in the fantasy (world according to Daybell) until you’re immersed.
It would have been great if she could have allowed the break apart follow the course . His words were so straight forward about the betrayal. She wanted money , ex and power. Heartbreak 💔
I see a lot of comments from people about how can someone be sucked into a cult like this and it's very simple. If you are at a vulnerable point in your life where you're lost, you made a huge change, or really anything and someone comes up to and says "we have an answer and we can help" you're probably going to listen. I think The Vow in HBO does a great job in season 1 showing how vulnerable people get pulled into these cults and in season 2 when you meet Nancy, you get to watch her slowly deprogram. In the beginning she believes what she was doing was right and good and at the end, she breaks down questioning everything. It's extremely sad. A difference between a religion and a cult is: with religion, you're allowed to have your own separate identity. With a cult, you're life revolves around nothing but that cult. In case anyone was wondering what the distinction could be.
I doubt Lori would let others take & care for the two children as she thought she could just keep getting the social security “survivor” monies she was receiving on the kid’s behalf.
Yes, I just heard someone (maybe Hidden True Crime) saying that he was looked at very thoroughly and that he had a bunch of embolisms in the lungs and that is not something you can "bring on" via poison or any other means.
Lori and Charles had not lived in the residence in AZ, that long. Melanie Gibbs was a new friend to Lori. The meetings that Lori and the two Melanies were sponsored by Chad. Loro and Chad were not an item at that time, but the relationship was beginning. (my recollections following the case). The challenge with police in 3 states involved; AZ, UT, & ID (Utah, only because Tammy was buried in Soringville and Chad and his family lived there before moving to ID. He was a frame digger) The AZ police screwed up by not listening to Charles.
