Oh, dear! I’m headed toward dialysis in the next four years. I still wonder about some of the answers to these questions.😮 thank Bethany, I truly feel you are doing work that our doctors/nurses and other medical personnel either don’t have time or don’t want to cover with us. Sincerely, Rebekah 😊

Oh you are one of the people that I needed to hear from today. Your personality shines through all of the roughest, darkest times of living with CKD. Thank you for being brave enough to tell the world about a personal matter. Have you ever thought about leading a group? Individuals like us need a safe space to talk about our issues and offer support in ways that healthy people will never understand. Constant Contact is a great place to start. Just a thought, have a great rest of your week.

Congratulations on nearing 15K subs! Your content is so relatable to me as I get closer to dialysis. These questions and comments are all great! I just had my aunt say to me "you'll feel so much better once you get on dialysis". It was one of those moments that I didn't know what to say. And #8 the vegan thing. My family does not get this concept so I just say, "I'm plant based". #10!!! I laughed sooo hard when you said that one! That was the funniest one of all of them to me :) #11 I've been told too "you're the picture of health"
@kidneykeeping
@kidneykeeping Год назад
I also use the term plant based. It doesn't seem to have the "stigma" of vegan. Glad the video made you laugh. I worry a lot about offending someone.

My step father died at your clinic. What have you got 5years? You just go through it. I could survive that. Look at these pictures of Florida. We’re all going to go boating and swimming, sorry you can’t come. Perfect day for it. Can you eat this? Can you eat that? Can we ever go to the Chinese Restaurant again? Oh no, not you? Oh, your poor husband. Stage 5, OMG. Aunt Pat will give you a kidney. I’ll give you a kidney and you never see them again. Actually, I feel good most of the time. My cat is more upset. She likes to sit on my stomach at night and sometimes I have to say no honey. My clinic lets me eat most stuff in moderation. But yes, most people don’t know about kidney disease. I didn’t either. I just thank God I don’t have cancer like others I know. Your videos got me through a lot this last month. I learned everything from you and your videos first, not at the classes. You prepared me for the classes

I think my comment got lost. I know you said people don't want to hear about your vegan diet and blood work, but I would LOVE to see you do a video on "what I eat in a day" and "what I eat on a cheat day or favorite cheat meal". I like watching CrossFit and bodybuilders "what I eat in a day" and "cheat day" videos. I went vegan 7 months ago and I lost A LOT of weight. This was 7 months before I understood I have CKD. Great timing!!! My labs changed drastically, for the better! I never knew how exciting LAB REVIEW DAY with my NP could be!!! I feel ya'!!!

@lunalady1821 - I don’t know what you mean by “dismissed”. My medical doctor “fired” me; I had to get a new Primary Care Physician. I had seen my old doctor (in Ohio) for 22 years. I was SHELLSHOCKED. But, some things happen for the best….

The last one I could absolutely relate to, I had someone walk up to me as I was going to class one day, and tell me that if they were blind, they would blow their brains out. I have been totally blind since birth, and yes, it is a struggle, but I would not trade my life with my family and friends for anything.

❤ I don't think that you have to answer questions that are unacceptable to you. A good response would be how important is this to you? Or you can just decide not to answer a rude question by saying I really don't want to answer that question.

Hello! Could you make a video about the why vs. why not of donating blood when you have CKD, including the stages of CKD??!!! ( My diagnosis ICD-10 code said I'm at stage 3a.). I saw an article saying you lose 25-30% of your kidney function after donating, for 3 hours?😕. If you didn't know you had CKD and began donating blood regularly for the $$$...WOW.😢. Thank you for creating this amazing content.👏👏👏💯😁.
@kidneykeeping

I asked my Nephrologist this question of donating blood at my appointment today. He said it's fine and doesn't effect kidney function. BUT, to be able to donate blood you can't be anemic (which is often common with those suffering from CKD) and you must list the medications you are taking. Many medications will make it so that your blood is not safe for everyone. My Nephrologist was surprised by the question and said, "That was a good question".

If you are worried don't hesitate to let his doctor know. I can only share my own experience. I didn't have nausea once the anaesthesia wore off so that would be something I would call in and ask about.

Hello! I just wanted to introduce myself. I’m a new subscriber! I think all of your videos are so great and so informative!! I have been on dialysis on and off for 15 years with 2 failed transplants and I had never really considered doing PD until now that I have my baby girl (she’s 8 months old 🥹). I just had my PD catheter placed on Monday so my journey is just starting but I’m looking forward to this change 😊. Thank you for these videos!! You’re such an amazing human. God bless!! ❤

Started PD on July 11,2023. So far I am only doing manual exchanges. I’m doing my first 48 hr urine right now and will have my first KT/V labs done tomorrow 8/1. The comment that I’ve gotten a couple of times this past few weeks is …..since you’re not sick enough to have to go to dialysis center yet for your treatments , maybe you will get better ❤️‍🩹
