The bit at 0:40 where Jessica says, "Wait, Logan..." -- was that at that location in the fan-recorded audio of the Sneak Preview? It seems out-of-place, as if implying that she knows he's at risk of being killed by Doc if he goes into the NEW YOU 483, but is still too hesitant to outright warn him. But this is just after she -- in Cathedral -- confessed to him that she had earlier lured him to Arcade in order for him to be killed (by those 2 Red-clad guys who followed them from First Level Arcade, near 'The Hand', to Cathedral), because she hadn't trusted him then, though now, after seeing him let the female Runner in Cathedral go, she does. So, when she tells him, "Wait, Logan..." was she considering right then-and-there to take him to the Runner HQ, through the retracting wall in the LOVE SHOP, down that long set of stairs and through the 'basement' of the City, rather than risk the possibility of Logan being harmed by going into the NEW YOU, where Doc might be able to do him in? When things go badly in the NEW YOU, with Doc getting killed and Francis showing up, Jessica leads Logan through the LOVE SHOP's secret door (etc.), with her obviously knowing the various places in the City where such secret doors and passageways are situated to help Runners escape from the scanners which can otherwise track any Runner in the City. Note that Jessica leads him, ultimately, to a place denoted "17th Quadrant, 'K'..." by the Sandmen at HQ when Logan slyly activates his Follower gizmo, betraying Jessica's trust in his mistaken belief that they were at 'Sanctuary', calling in the 'cavalry' so as to destroy it and fulfill his mission. Earlier, at Logan's apartment, when he first met Jessica, their back-and-forth included him asking her, "What QUAD do you live in?" and she tells him, "K." I've always suspected that Jessica lives in 'Quad K' because she -- as part of the group of 'Misfits' who aid Runners seeking Sanctuary -- there are teleporter units elsewhere in the City which have been rigged by these 'criminals' so as to enable them to re-route teleporter signals through "The Circuit" . . . so that a Runner at, say, some location with a teleporter can be teleported directly to Jessica's apartment, where she can immediately bring him or her down into the basement of that Quad. And what is a 'Quad'? I think those buildings that look like big blue ziggurats, with square bases and sloping sides and a smaller square 'roof' -- those buildings, if I had to guess, are the 'Quads' mentioned. Perhaps all Green-aged citizens live in quads, which is why Logan -- seeing she's a 'green' by the color of her flimsy dress -- specifically asks her "What QUAD do you live in?" -- knowing all Green-clad/aged citizens live in those buildings. Anyway, the Sandman at DSHQ pinpoints the location of Logan's emergency signal as "17th Quadrant, 'K' " so I think Jessica lives in the 17th Quadrant (i.e. the 17th Dome?) and in the 11th 'Quad'-building located in that 17th Quadrant -- 'K' being the 11th letter of the alphabet. She seems to always be wearing an Ankh, so if her 'Friends' send her a 'visitor' through the Circuit -- a Runner teleported directly to her apartment, which is probably shielded against the Sandman 'Follower' gizmos -- she can lead that Runner down into the quad's 'basement' right to the 'Entrance' to the place where she eventually leads Logan, with the sliding door -- the same place Holly knew to go after the disaster at the NEW YOU. There's no way of knowing how far Jessica and Logan had to walk, through that 'basement' level beneath Arcade and beyond, before they got to that location beneath her own Quad K residence. Incidentally, I suspect that the reason that female Runner somehow managed to get into Cathedral -- which otherwise is inaccessible except for when the Computer (or DSHQ Sandmen operating "the Board") -- opens that sliding door which keeps the Cubs trapped inside -- is because the Sanctuary Line group has a way of teleporting Runners into Cathedral. How? Well, Cathedral serves as a kind of prison for violent juvenile delinquents, but they aren't just incarcerated in there to starve to death . . . right? I would guess that there is a teleporter there which ordinarily is a one-way device: Cubs are teleported IN but not OUT -- and the FOOD they eat also has to be teleported into Cathedral, perhaps brought in by robot-like Servomechanisms similar to Box. The Sanctuary Line -- I think -- found a way to use that teleporter to temporarily beam Runners there, so as to momentarily avoid Sandmen tracking them down, then beaming them out again before the arrival of the Sandman sent in to terminate him/her -- probably teleporting the Runner directly to Jessica's Quad K apartment. Just a few speculations . . .
Patrick, thank you for your question and observations. The "Wait, Logan" audio is not from the fan-recording of the Sneak Preview. I copied it over from the earlier scene in Arcade. As filmed, I believe there is more to the scene outside NEW YOU than I was able to reconstruct. The script doesn't provide much insight. It doesn't mention any dialogue but does state that as Logan and Jessica enter NEW YOU they are watched by the two members of the underground. Presumably Jessica sees them (yet again) and that's why she hesitates. Since we don't have footage of the two men at that location, I added the "Wait, Logan" to help demonstrate her reluctance. Interesting that Logan says "C'mon" despite that not appearing in the script, so there might be additional dialogue yet to be discovered.
Holly talked about another sandman getting a new face. Some storys say it was Francis as his lifeclock broke and it was his way of hiding it. Given how he acted towards Logan in the beginning of the movie, I think that was the original intent for his pursuit and the producers changed it after the box escape.
Uh cause Logan sounds a bit weirder when he said come on and didn’t really sound like Michael York with his English accent also it was kinda unfinished rest of it was taken from live footage from the movie itself.
Notice that Jenny Agutter looks the worst she does in the movie , during these scenes. I noticed it even as a kid when I saw this in the theater. It could be just REALLY AMAZING acting by Jenny. Because she knows they want to kill him and she wants to warn him so she feels torn and doesn’t know what to do. But it also could be… because she is a woman… in the first really major Hollywood leading role of her career… and she is supposed to be the beautiful love interest. And for a nothing little throw away part like “The receptionist “ they bring in the hottest damn actress in Hollywood!!! It must have been devastating for her! Because you know that when Farrah fucking Fawcett is on screen… nobody is looking at poor Jenny. And her body language conveys that insecurity. She looks pissed. But, it totally works for the character in that scene… so… who knows?
I think you may have missed the point. This is not the original scene from the movie. This is a recreation of an earlier version of the film that was cut. This was recreated to show what this scene was like on an earlier version of the film. They used available production stills and audio from someone that recorded the audio at the movie screening with a cassette recorder. That is why the audio is low quality in some sections.
@@axel4196 Lee Majors (he husband at that time) was not exactly the most trusting person and that had an affect upon her. But the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, even though it might well be impossible to get over the fence. LOL make up is a Billions+++++++industry, all meant to cover up the true beauty of all. people do not see them selves and i can tell u that many a women i have met, that had husbands/BFs like lee majors, all wanted to stay with that type of man, but wanted the man to change. all of them that fall prey to the man that is not perfect, want the dude to change. so the women put on make up and change their hair, or scent, in hopes (hope is not a tactic) of the man changing LOL Women are trained by western society to be beautiful and that may mean make up, or some other Fashion statement. // almost all actors (of all 3 sexes) are insecure. some due to their upbringing or due to their school training/being bullied at the same schools by teachers (pink floyd the movie/album shout out), or by other students. so whom is more than Abel enough to hold off any Cain? her poster was the number selling poster. but then she left the TV C Angels' show due to pay. and she was stuck with her buddies that did too much drugs (ryan o'neil) and her controlling abuse lee majors' husband. without support units, she was bound to have less confidence she died on the same date as m jackson, so she did not get the Goodbye that most would if she had died on a different date of the same calendar.. take care and have fun
That's the West Atrium within the Apparel Mart (one of many buildings that comprised the Dallas Market Center). The Apparel Mart was built in 1964 and demolished in 2006.
An audience member recorded the sneak preview screening on 1976-May-07 at Mann's Valley Circle in San Diego, CA. It is a low quality cassette recording.
