I had originally checked out N1MM+ logger before I saw Callum using it and had already found Log4OM(v2). I found that for my usage I preferred Log4OM but both a nice logging applications. Thanks for the video! LCARA Ham Radio

Chris in KY - KY4CKP Yes Chris. I like Log4OM2 too. I don’t use all the features, but the basics work fine for me 👍🏻

Log4OM2 is so versatile - Instead of the network log I use the "ADIF Monitor" function which watches WSJT-X's wsjtx_log.adi log file and updates QSOs from there :) So many possibilities..

salat Ok. I’ll take a look at that too 👍🏻 Thanks.

Excellent video Ian, very useful. I use the same programs but I tend to log my QSO’s using WSJT-X manually into Log4OM V2 after a session on air. I need to look at doing what you recommend. Thanks again & 73 Chris M0RSF

Hi Ian another informative video there, may i make a suggestion ?? instead of how you have your screen for wsjt setup in the video if you spread the waterfall all the way across the screen from left to right ,you will gain more visible waterfall, on my 32 monitor i get a waterfall width of 2780 hz, i have my waterfall about a inch and half from the top of the screen and about 5 or 6 inches deep, 1st advantage is it is easier on the eyes, 2nd advantage is you are seeing more calls, and the 3rd side benefit is,if some one calls you and they are past your waterfall edge, if you put your mouse pointer on the top bar of the waterfall and drag it to the right, and then click on the far left hand side you can widen the waterfall very easily and quickly,, you can put your screen you currently have on your left below the waterfall fully across the screen, and a secret squirrel tip here :), when you log qso box pops up BEFORE you click ok reposition it to where is best for you, then click ok, and every time afterwards it opens in the same place, you will get used to putting your mouse pointer in your preferred place whether you are right or left handed, (there is a difference), i am left handed using a right handed mouse on the wrong side of the keyboard :) :), keep them coming Ian 73s

@@ianxfs thanks ian, if your lucky enough to be running a 2nd monitor i would recommend the latest version of JT Alert ver 2.5.0, it syncs perfectly with wsjt ,and the new version has a better gui that shows up to 28 active stations on the band @ any one time (it uses same colours as in wsjtx), free regularly updated ,available from www.hamapps.com, and if your really lucky (or radio mad)and have 3 screens run psk reporter/qrz on the 3rd :) :) 73s Kevin

I use OmniRig to act as the general interface between software for this and other rigs.

Hi can you please make a video on how to have log4om and wsjtx running together using 1 usb cable thanks
@ianxfs
@ianxfs 3 года назад
Hi Danny! That depends upon the rig you’re using. In this video I’m using the 5000 via an SCU-17 interface which handles both CAT control and sound-card features. The cables from the rig are RS232 and DIN. Then a USB goes from the SCU-17 to the PC. My 991A however is just a single USB lead as it has a built-in sound-card, so that lead provides CAT and two-way sound. If your rig hasn’t got a built-in sound-card you will need an external interface unit. If you do a bit of Internet searching for your setup, hopefully you should be able to find the info that your need? Good luck 👍🏻

@@ianxfs hey thanks for coming back to me appreciate that . The rig I’m using is the yaesu ft dx 10 I can run wsjt by it’s self and I can run log4om by it’s self but will not run together with cat control I’ve installed omnirig and log4om worked fine until I started wsjt I had a rig failure message? I’ve been at this for days now just can’t seem to crack it os windows 10 sorry for borrowing you with this 🥴

Ah right. That's a similar setup to my 991A then. On my WSJT-X Radio Settings screen I have the rig set to the OmniRig option (#2 in my case with two rigs), PTT set to CAT, Mode USB and Split to Fake It...all other settings blank. The Audio tab is set to the relevant two USB CODECS. It can sometimes get in a pickle if changes have been made without a clean re-start. I would shut down WSJT-X, run Omnirig (this auto-runs on PC start, but a manual run can help sometime if you're PC has been turned on for a long while I've found), then start WSJT-X again. If the error pops up in WSJT-X, try selecting the OmniRig option again (as above) to force it into another attempt. Other than that, if you've got LOG4OM (I presume you've upgraded to LOG4OM2?) running fine with CAT then that shows your USB connection is good. Sometimes a cheap USB lead can be a problem with RF apparently, but if you've not even transmitted then it can't be that (& guessing the FTDX10 comes with a decent lead anyway). Initially, I would have thought it was the OmniRig settings, but you've got both programs working independently.....Hope this helps. Good Luck Danny!
