Agreed! Mighty Mouse is the same but he gets a lot of crap. I like the quiet champs who show skill and not how loud they can yell. May weather is still a genius though.
True. It's just too bad that doesn't sell well. Although I do believe that if you're good enough, being a stoic silent dude can actually be your brand. Problem with Mighty Mouse is just that nobody gives a fuck about his division :(
in a way its not, think about it there are tonssss of boxers with undefeated records, and tbh most pro boxers arent very showy, they dont beef, they dont trashtalk, boxing at the highest level is very extroverted sport and the ones that sell are the rivalry matchups
Lomachenko is such a bright and disciplined guy. You can't catch him off guard neither in the ring nor outside of it. No matter who asks the questions, they just can't provoke him in any way. Amidst all those boasting chumps, he's (in my opinion) the best ambassador the sport has at the moment. Great role model for all the future and up-and-coming boxers. God bless him.
hes ego you speak of is in the ring, im sure he will be that way in any fight, i doubt with rigo tho he will be more serious maybe but still entertaining maybe a salsa dance here and there.
My favorite too. I am from Ukraine. You know, Lomachenko is not so famous in Ukraine as Usik eg. Because the media are poorly informing about him. Only sometimes you can watch a message with a photo of handsome guy Vasily Lomachenko, sometimes small programs on pro-Russian enemy channels. It's sad.
Leha900 That's so so strange considering in the boxing scene. Everyone knows him and anyone who comes across him I'm sure would have interest. Boxing fan or not he should be known. Like Tiger Woods, Michael Jordon. He's defiantly in that class of skill.
every single time elie talks to a pro boxer he always asks atleast 1 stupid question, youre a superstar why do you wrap your own hands?guys a joke,im sure all the fighters must think so too.
matt gosling Yeah, that seemed like a strange question... but to play devil's advocate... maybe he was looking for something like... because I like the feel of wrapping my own hands, I like to stay humble, I like to focus on what I have to do and not on how great I may appear to be...

This interview was 100 times better than most boxing interviews. No trash talk, honest and really intelligent. You can get an idea of the kind of guy he is.
@@can-ws8hn What you don't seem to understand is that Lomachenko is not so much running from fights as more as he's not baited into accepting just any fight because he sees its nothing more than just manipulation.
loma is so humble not willing to be coaxed into answering questions where his words could be twisted or contorted, focused on his own career not too worried about what everyone else is doing my man
The greatest part of this interview is: "why do you wrap your own hands, you're a champion!?". Lomachenko replies " I don't understand the question". Spoken like a true champion 👊🏼
There's alot of people who could learn about how to conduct themselves in public from Vasyl. I like the way he avoids being drawn into trashing others. An amazing boxer and athlete, boxing is lucky to have him.
Bro you can say how you would beat a fighter without trashing them yall needa stop saying that he hears good fighters names and he tries his best to avoid a conflict result that leads to him having to fight someone good
What a deep question "Why do you wrap your own hands...?" Really? Is that all you have to ask such a great boxer? Is like asking picasso "Why do you mix your own colors?"
Alejandro Morales It sounds like you were expecting too much. After all it was Ellie who was asking that dumbass question. A dumbass asking dumbass questions is expected imo lol
It's actually a great question and I wanna know too. A lot of fighters have their trainers or other people wrap their hands. It could be a ritual for him or something, if I was there I would've asked the same thing. If only he understood and answered the question I'm pretty sure the answer would say a lot about his personality.
@Kirby Calitis Trainers go by sight and asking the fighter if the wrap is good, the fighter can just feel if its right. ++ Also it might just be a too much of a hassle to get someone to wrap it for daily training.
Donny Darko its a marketing aspect bro, why some fighters like mcgregor are so popular while no one knows who demetrius Johnson is yet he just has his 10th title defense and it got some of the worst ppv numvers, its because the shit talking gets publicity, which makes more $. it used to piss me off too, i was always thinking why do u have to be a hardass, just fight the guy without some emotional anger attached
Donny Darko that's why it's very sad that society need this cockers as Irish etc. I'm not against of it and understand that the life is different. Just hope that Loma brings a fresh streams.(you see, we call normal, intelligent and a humble behavior and manners,- fresh streams already))
Bro I'm Ukrainian, but I have lived in the US for most of my life, not all American boxers are cocky, just certain ones are. You can't generalize a whole country.
the question wasn't that stupid. it could have been a very personal one. fighters a know for their superstitions. he could have had a very introspective response. it could have delt with who is as a person or his philosophy about work ethics. this is an example of how there are truly no stupid questions.
Never heard him speaking English, his English his pretty good. I like how he still has some Ukrainian tendencies though like saying Manny "has 37 years" instead of "is 37 years old."
This is going to get lost in the mix but it is refreshing to see an interview with a fighter that isn't a bunch of hot air. This man has class, is intelligent, and is a beast in the ring. I am totally impressed. I haven't followed boxing in many many years but you can bet I will be looking forward to watching this man fight in the future.
TCthaCrisis not to sound racist cause he's black but Loma is white pp think is the best thing smoking rite now if he was black he wud b ordinary now because he's white doing it its different he's just unbeatable
Kasheem Smith nah man only for some bigoted fucks. I'm white and my favorites fighters are from all races with honestly the exception being asian and it's not even race it's just the only one I've watched is Pacquiao and in my opinion he roids so he's not a favorite but I respect him
Wow!!!! Didn't realize he was so humble on top of everything. Really makes me that much more of a fan. Much respect for a future hall of fame fighters. One of the best in boxing history:)
The word at 2:03 he's looking for is priority. Speed isn't his priority. His ability in making angels and out smarting his opponents is. Both in predictions of movement and strikes.
I’ve seen Lomachenko use both the Philly Shell and the Peek-a-boo defense in the same fight. He uses his defense to set up combinations. He is one of the most skilled fighters I’ve ever seen.
This man has the most wisdom I've ever seen in any video, this man is humble and Very smart in every Response he ever says, Very patient and Thoughtful Mind.
I love Lomachenko. He is so respectful towards other fighters. He's very careful with his words, especially during interviews, when they ask questions like "could you beat..." "who would win...".
I love the way he refuses to trash-talk any other boxers. That's the mark of a gentleman and true professional. HIs English is surprisingly good too and it's impressive the way he ponders the questions and immediately admits that some of them are beyond what he can answer. A remarkable boxer and a very intelligent, thoughtful and insightful person, who is a real asset to boxing. MsG
i have to give it to this guy. very respectful of fighters. no trash talk. even of the past his prime pacquiao. very carefully worded. you made a fan here, hi-tech.
I like how he alludes to Mayweather's brittle wrist being the reason his power diminished and he became even more defense first. People who criticize Mayweather, don't realize how great he had to be to adapt his style due to his hands. I give him even more credit for that. Earlier in his career he used to knock guys out
I think mayweathers style seems easy to beat but in the ring it's totally different, the real reason he's so hard to beat is because of his timing, people always talk about his speed and how he's fast, the truth is his speed isn't anything special, his reaction timing is what is truly impressive. Mayweather puts himself in a position to utilize his whole body in order to protect himself from any incoming offense. His reflexes as timing are impeccable to the point where he doesn't need to do much to stay unscathed, moving very subtly is enough for him. Mayweather has a natural talent that is in his blood for timing, this is why fighters like his dad and uncle were never super big champions, they utilized the shoulder roll too, but couldn't perform it to its true potential because they didn't carry the timing that Floyd jr does. Shoulder roll is a great defense no matter the person, but the truth is is that mayweather was blessed to be taught the shoulder roll, because it was truly the perfect style for him. Different styles differ among body type, reflex time and natural tendencies that you are born with, these all play a big factor in what is considered a perfect style, because the truth is it's not the style that is impenetrable or perfect, it's the person that utilizes it making it seem that way, more people need to understand this concept and stop trying to copy pro fighters styles. Bottom line is that every person is different and certain things suit certain people.
Dylan Y Excellent points but notice this; Floyd May is Less of a natural talent, he worked for it... he’s been doing this his whole life! Let’s give credit where it’s due.”hard work and dedication”
Good statement but let’s not forget Pretty Boy Floyd, everyone wants to talk about Money Mayweather but no one wants to talk about Pretty Boy Floyd and how much of an offensive fighter he use to be before he continuously hurt his hands. He was just as much an offensive fighter and toe to toe boxer as anyone else in his youth but with age comes experience and his true gift even more than defense and hard work and dedication and timing is his ability to read people and their movements on the fly in such a short time.
I enjoy the way he stops and thinks before answering abstract questions. He does not rush to comparisons or conclusions. He is aware that these are all great fighters. Good interview.
Man, is it just me, or does he come accross as incredible humble and honest? This is the first time I've seen him speak and now i have more love for this incredible athlete than ever before! Peace.
I love how he doesn't theorize crap on how to beat Mayweather's defense, and instead admits that he would need to prepare and study it and says it's a complicated question, man I love this guy. I honestly believe if anyone can figure out how to beat Mayweather's defense, it'd be this guy, he is S M A R T, don't come @ me people, not a Mayhater.
Respect to Mr. Lomachenko, I admire this guy. He is disciplined and not a cocky boxer, a calm and calculating but turns into a beast when he fights. a fan from Philippines.
How respectful is this guy and Usyk? They both give the same answer when asked if they would beat other fighters in different weight classes. That right there are genuine people ❤️
Talk about a humble dude. He may be dancing and shit in the ring which you can say is classless, and I do agree about taunting and shit like that, but after seeing the way he's talking about other guys... He's humble... Knows his strengths and weaknesses... This kid is gonna be HUGE.
More boxers could use this man as an example of how to act. He answers the questions without talking down on any fighter, gives intelligent answers, shows respect, and then gets in the ring and handles business. The guy seems to be a class act
"I like eat boxer" 😄😄😄😄😄 How he sees boxing is truly amazing, people will talk about this fighter for a very long time. He is setting new standards for boxing in my opinion. And of course the vibe gets spoiled by Ellie's dumb question!
so much cultural difference between us-uk and eastern european guys... so much poise and respect, down to earth and stuff... while the us-uk are very delusional and just sad
It's not delusional or sad it's what sells tickets and gains publicity. I wouldn't say so much the UK more the US. In the UK we respect and take more notice of humility. Our favourite fighters are those such as Lennox Lewis, Ricky Hatton or more recently Anthony Joshua. All very humble and kind natured men. But in the US they LOVE controversial more cocky fighters and it's not always 'cos they actually like them it's partly loving to hate them. In Eastern Europe they like more humble, intelligent fighters and cocky arrogant fighters get less publicity. It's all a big game. Don't draw conclusions about countrymen based on the way boxers behave.
As a proud American, I have to admit our own pride goes a too far many times. And yes, a lot of it is business here too. Many Americans do not like this behavior as well, so please do not generalize too much.
I love his honesty. Alot of people in Loma's position would've been arrogant about it and said they could get through it. He admitted that he'd have to take time and a lot of hours to study the style to come up with a counter
wun aydee loma’s answer was spot on. He definitely understood after the interpreter translated for him, but decided to ignore such a retarded question.
Love love love him. I cared not for boxing until I saw this man. He turned me into a fan. He's the complete package. Looks fabulous in his little boxer briefs too. Love love love him.
when they asked him about pacman speed he didn't directly insult him by saying he is not as fast anymore of his age but gave an indirect explanation of what happens to boxers after an amount of time has passed
