Part 3 of my tutorial series on how I'm currently making my corpsed pumpkins with long stems and built in LED lights. These have been a sort of ongoing experiment over the years due to the time it takes to see how well the finish holds up to the elements and then create a new batch with improvements. I think this finish will hold up much better with the new base coat mix, which sticks better to the plastic, and is more flexible than just paint alone. For more information on my corpsed pumpkins be sure to check out parts one and two of the series.

Showing the flat vs glossy look so people can see the difference was nice. Better for those of us who prefer the glossy look to find out BEFORE we spray our own with flat. Also, clever idea to put the pump on your big jug of black acrylic; it's one of those "that's so obvious, why didn't I think of it?" tricks. These turned out great and are going to be a wonderful addition to your haunt.

Wellllllll... the pump on the black paint jug came that way from Michael's and clogged up pretty quickly so now I have to take the top off and pour the paint out of the jug. lol Thanks for thinking I was the one who came up with that though. It probably would have worked out about the same if it was actually my idea. I did think some folks might prefer the glossy look though. Figured I'd show the difference since flat is my preference.

Your projects are the best I've ever seen. I just binged your channel, again, over the weekend. Do you think carpet adhesive is more durable than wood glue?

I've never tried wood glue. Carpet adhesive was the solution to finding something that would adhere well to plastic and not eventually flake off. Sticks extremely well, stays flexible, and takes paint awesome.

@@OakLaneCemetery definitely going to try this out. Some corpsed stuff I've done is definitely flaking. Thanks!

What do you do with the power plugs? Do you leave the plugs exposed to the elements or are they covered somehow in another container or prop?

When I first started making them I was using the corpsing to create a little snug tube at the end of the stem that covered the plug, but as I made more I realized it was easier to just leave the plug bare and use a little strip of brown electrical tape over the plug connections when I set up.

How many pumpkins are you able to power from a single power supply?

I really don't know exactly. In theory the LEDs I use should be able to have 100 or more ran by a single 12v 10w power supply. In real life application wire size, length, resistance and connectors can all reduce the amount of LEDs I can actually run. I doubt I would ever run 100 or more of the small flickering LEDs I use in the pumpkins from a single 12v 10a power supply. I tend to over amp my power supplies to ensure I have enough power for everything. I used to use 12v 5a for everything, but now use 12v 10a to be sure.
