My Los Angeles home cost my parents 500k back in 1994. Now Zillow values the home to be 3 mil😂😂. Housing in California is expensive as hell now

Upland? - If you pay more than $400,000 to live in Upland, then you are overpaying. Don't be impressed by the size of the home or the interior bells and whistles, drive around the city and ask yourself, 'Do I want to live in this dump'? - There are many more dumps just like Upland so be careful and always ask yourself, the question above.

Nowdays, $1.6 million is not shocking in LA County.

You really want to trip people out, show them what 1.6M will get them on the West Side or in Downtown

The whole LA real estate market is a massive bubble. Prices have tripled since 2000 and per capita income county -wide is flat since then. I recall back in the thick of the financial crisis in 2009 large homes in Benedict Canyon were sinking under A Million. Ditto prime Beverly Hills Condos. In California, you can get a 750,000 dollar home would get you a 2 story house, 3 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, kitchen, laundy room, and garage. The yard can be small or ugly. In arizona, you can get a 200,000 dollar home with 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1 livingroom, kitchen, laundry room, and a big yard with rocks and mountain views!

In Desoto, Tx just outside of Dallas, 1.5 mill gets u a 5 bed 7 bath estate. 9000 sqft. On 16 acres.

Where I live $1.6million will get you 1000+ acres, 500ft waterfront/lake, 8000 sq ft home, 3200 sq ft guest house, 1500 sq ft boat house. Good luck CA.

As a single with no dependents, for $1.6 million I would rather buy a one-bedroom beachfront condo.

I live in the Inland Empire in a spacious house that cost about 550-600k. I just drive to LA/OC whenever I want, yeah it’s a lil’ commute(35-40 minutes), but I don’t mind at all. LA prices are insane, & it’s so damn crowded😫.

Why? Actually why? LA is such a dump. How can real estate companies trick people into paying that for ok houses in a gross city.

Move to Texas, for 400,000 my families last house was 2 stories, 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 4,500 sq feet, with a pool and a hot tub, and backed onto a golf course. Great views at sun set while swimming with some beers.

That last house is a bargain. Today it would fetch double at least.

The only issue with Los Angeles is that the good schools are only in the expensive areas, unlike those where I live in Westchester County. The more middle class parts of the county, White Plains, New Rochelle and Port Chester have decent schools. But the really good ones are in the rich towns like Bronxville, Scarsdale, Irvington, Croton on Hudson, Larchmont, Harrison and Rye

So, these are what you can get for $1,600,000 in California? Very underwhelming! In most areas of the country, you can buy a nice estate home for $1,600,000, but in California, it may only get you a cookie cutter tract home! Much of California is almost as expensive as New York City!

Spent 278K and got a 1996 home in great condition on 11 acres on asphalt road (no gravel) with three garages, 2500 plus square feet 20 minutes to the mall, 20 to my work, etc etc. Lol at spending millions on a postage stamp. Plus, I don't have to live in California. What the hell is wrong with you people, why do you want to live packed in a sardine can with millions of people?

Too expensive for me. If I had 1.6M I would buy acreage in Idaho. I was born in Fresno, raised in San Diego. The taxes scared me away from California. I just moved to Boise. Prices are climbing here also but they’re not as steep as Urban California.

The layout of that second home in Sherman Oaks is nothing less than absolutely FUCKING STUPID. God damn man...I grew up in SoCal, lower class apartment living and I loved growing up there. But now I'm 37, have travelled around the world and have saved a decent amount of money for myself and I'm doing a lot better than most people BUT I still can't afford anything I would be proud of living in in SoCal. I just don't understand who is buying all these houses. How many doctors, lawyers, famous celebrities are there?! wtf?!

My California house cost my parents a little less than 200,000 back in the 1990’s now the houses in this area are a little over 800,000

The first owner would say "I only pay $16,000 for this house many years ago, today I will sell it for $1.6 million"
