Even in the hood most Kentucky folk are cool if you're cool. I worked in the west end of Louisville for years and rarely ran into issues.

I live in this part of Louisville (South End) and I gotta say, this is absolutely not the worst hood in the city. It’s a little sketch, sure, but you can go literally 2 miles up towards 7th street and be in Park Hill which is far worse than this. And even that’s still not the worst hood. You gotta go west of Dixie and north of Algonquin for that. Basically any numbered street 18th or higher.

While it's not the prettiest. I can confirm its way safer in South Louisville than the West end. BUT, I used to live in Richmond, VA. Now, I don't know about statistics but driving in the bad parts of Richmond without getting out of my car felt much less safe than anywhere in Louisville. Louisville is in general feels safer in the worst parts than a lot of similar cities it's size

Quick whip out Mr. Clean eraser and clean those head lights! All hoods of the world are pretty much the same. I think in America when it comes to "Black Culture" or any kind of culture you can see there really is three cultures... rich, middle and poor. It's not black and white, red or yellow. It's straight up those who have, those who have cleaning OCD and those who won't and those who don't have. Some people would consider my neighborhood a "hood" of 8 mile but I love living here better than the far west and north any day.

@jacobfloyd6975

I just want to say I love your channel.This area isn't that bad. In truth, they've gentrified the bulk of the hoods in Louisville, torn down Hazelwood, the Hill, South Wick, Sheppard Square, Clarksdale, Beecher Terrace - all of which had pretty high crime - and very few remain. Some of those areas are still a little rough, though. If you ever return to Louisville, try the Russell neighborhood, S 9th to S. 33rd running east to west, West Market to West Broadway running north to south. To the south of there is the California neighborhood, which runs S. 9th to S. 26th east to west, and West Broadway to West Oak north to south. Then a little further south is Park Hill.which runs S 9th to S. 26th east to west, and West Oak to West Hill north to south. The Algonquin neighborhood is south of Park Hill and it has one of the worst hoods left in the city in terms of crime. If you ever return to Louisville, I recommend heading to Parkway Place/Patton Ct. Park at the Park Hill Community Center, or on the side of the road, and take a stroll through the complex. Also, you can ride down Dr. W.J. Hodge Street, which begins just off S. 22nd and runs north through California and Russell before ending at N. 22nd in Portland. Portland is another area worth driving through. It's a big neighborhood, running from S. 10th to N. 33rd, then N. 34th running east to west, and working its way into Northwestern Parkway and Bank Street in the Northwestern portion of the city. The southern border starts at West Market. Seek out Portland Avenue if you decide to drive through there. Of course, you can always drive down West Muhammad Ali from the east to the west to cut right through the heart of the west end. West Ali, Doc Hodge, and Portland Ave. are all good streets to hit, and Patton Ct. They have a lot of the crime in the city. Dumesnil is a good one to ride down, too. You could drive back into City View Apartments near Roy Wilkins Blvd. Might as well check the east side of downtown, too. Go to Smoketown and Phoenix Hill, around Clay Street. That was possibly the worst street in the city at one time. Two of the most dangerous apartment complexes used to be there - Sheppard Square and Clarksdale. Both of them are gone now and the area isn't quite as bad, but Clay and S. Shelby still get some heat, and they're definitely hoods. I enjoy your work. Just wanting to give you some ideas if you ever come back to Louisville. Be safe, my friend.

Ville got problems but it’s still durable to live compared to other dilapidated cites like Gary Indiana. City hall looked like semblance of atomic bomb dropped.

The hood back in the day was Southwick/Cotter Homes. Closest thing to the hood now is the California neighborhood or Shelby park. None of which compare to those in big cities.

He starts out on conn alley and turns onto wheeler Ave, used to be a decent neighborhood. They tore down most all of the projects in Louisville, now drugs and bullshit are in every neighborhood. Unless you go deep in the eastend!

The houses look like barracks. Were there servicemen stationed in that area at one time. Maybe immigrants, the houses are quite small. What's the history of this town?

I have a bone to pick ever made this video. I've been living in Louisville for almost 18 years and from South Louisville. I don't understand House South Louisville and be the worst neighborhood here hi, and I have seen worse elsewhere. South Louisville is it perfect, but for someone has to live close to downtown, out of all the neighborhoods in the area, this is the best one to live in besides Crescent Hill. Out of all the memories I have from living in Louisville, I had the best times living there. I'm currently living downtown, which is okay, but with a lot of grocery stores closing up in the inner city & poor infrastructure here in Old Louisville, I wish I could find a place in South Louisville. While stores & everything closing up everywhere else, places in South Louisville r there to stay with more commercial growth coming. so how can South Louisville be a terrible neighborhood?

You ever been in Georgetown, Greystone, or Iroquois?
@joygeegemini9241
@joygeegemini9241 3 года назад
@@gslimm40 Yes all 3. Both Now & back in the day. Yes Georgetown has went downhill. I remember when I moved here 20 years ago, it was a lot nicer. I do miss Iroquois projects. If they didn't plan to build anything after demolishing the whole project, I think they could have at least left the buildings around the front part of the complex up. I remember almost moving in Greystone around 2012 when the wall was put up. I remember going there a lot in the late 90s and 2000s. I did live around Shagbark for a while.
