Would y’all use the real shrimp or the canned shrimp?
@65caracharlie
@65caracharlie 3 года назад
I'm fan of canned, so much easier and I use the juice from the can to dissolve the gelatin. It amazes me how many families know my "old family recipies" that have been handed down, lol. We really are just one big family.

Hi Paula., nice to see you wildin' it in your own kitchen. I would use fresh shrimp and dissolve the gelatin in shrimp stock made from the shells. I know that is a lot more trouble but I think it would be worth it. New sub to your channel.

My sister always made this for us at Christmas time every year. It's my favorite shrimp dip ever. BTW, this tastes just fine no matter what mold you use, even a loaf pan will work, or a glass bowl. It all tastes the same. Also excellent with simple ritz crackers.

My mom made this for many years when I was growing up. In fact, I just bought two copper scallop shell molds just to recreate the memories. We always used fresh shrimp and served with stone ground wheat crackers. So Christmas always had the shrimp mold dip, hot crab dip and scalloped oysters, and of course, ham biscuits!

This is amazing. You know Paula and Teresa, I was just thinking about this very same shrimp dip for past two days! I never had the recipe for it. My cousin use to make this dip and way back in my single lady days my best friend and I asked my cousin Nancy for this dip recipe as we had it at her party and it was so delish! Nancy gave the recipe to my friend and she made it for our party and we doubled the recipe due to the large crowd of people attending the party. We put it in a regular cake sized mold but I think my friend forgot to spray the mold before putting the shrimp dip in it. We could not get it to unmold and we had a big delicious mess but we served it any way by scooping it all into a bowl. Everyone loved the dip even though it looked like a pink mess.lol She never did give me the recipe for this shrimp dip and I was just thinking about calling my cousin to see if she still had this recipe on hand so I could make it again now that it's many moons later. LOL Thank you for sharing this recipe with all of us. It is really great dip even if using fresh vegetables like celery sticks, different colored bell peppers cut into either boats or large chunks and thick slices of cucumbers as well as crackers of various sorts.

The sauce you speak of sounds yum yum 😁 I just made this shrimp dip for 4th of July cookout, it was a hit, as always! My dad always loved it on toast. If you don't have a food processor, I've always melted the cream cheese in a sauce pan with the tomato soup. Then add everything, including the tiny canned shrimp that I just mash in the can with a fork.
