I ran out of gas once in Kansas, asked the gas station "manager" if they sold small gas containers, he said "hold on, I actually happen to have one in my truck." He let me borrow it to walk over to my car in a nearby parking lot. Had another one in the rural Ozarks of Southern Missouri, my girlfriend was driving and we stopped to help some kids who ran out of gas on the way to a campout musical festival we were also heading to. We drove a few miles up where a clerk let us borrow a gas can to take back to the stranded motorists. I don't know if they ever returned it but I'd say it's upwards of 90% likely. Good old small town, white people stuff.
I used to listen to loveline before I even learned how to drive. 20 years later, I can relate to this so much. Restrooms always "out of order" because they're too lazy to clean them, Air pump/ water hose never work, guys behind the counter are lifeless drones that take their sweet time to do anything, at least 1 of the pumps never work and the ones that do never give you a receipt, there's always an asshole buying lottery tickets.
the other night I discovered a nail in my tire, which had by that time deflated to less than 10psi. I nervously drove to four, count 'em, FOUR different gas stations before I found one with a working air pump. Each station I went to had an "out of order/service" sign on the pump, and man, as I was pulling into that third station, I said to myself "if this one is out of order too, I'm gonna flip my shit" Sure enough, "out of order". I sat there in my car yelling to myself "DUDE WHAT THE FUCK!?" several times over before regaining my composure and moving on to the 4th station. Unreal.

My dad used to take me to dennys when I was 17-18 yrs old and sometimes he wouldn’t make it on time to work, so he’d drop me off by the 76 gas station, it’s the worse location if you have to use the bathroom in Garden Grove. After some foreign prick lady wouldn’t let me use the bathroom, I boycotted them back since 2004, what callous jerks .
I dont know if anyone is going to read this at this point in time but... Nowadays foreign pricks are the only ones who own and work at these gas stations. Do you want to work at a gas station? I sure as hell dont. They are the only ones willing to do so. I live in Chicago. Much of what Adam is complaining about applies here as well. They dont let you use the bathroom because if they did, people would go in there and fuck those bathrooms up. They shit and piss everywhere, they write their ridiculous gang signs on the wall with sharpies, they get paper towels and toilet paper all over the place. The toilet gets clogged, drug addicts shoot up In there. Then the gas station owner is responsible for damage if its independently owned and operated which I think they are.. So I get why you can't use the bathroom because people are animals and they ruin it for the rest of us.
Sully8838 Adam’s job is to express a controversial point of view in an emphatic way. It’s funny for a minute. It’s too bad no one ever pushes back on his backward thinking. He never seems too introspective about anything. That’s how he became successful. People just can’t wait to hear the next stupid thing he has to say.
Here is the flip side: 1) The bathroom is "out of order" because the minimum wage worker got tired of cleaning up after people with explosive diarrhea and vomit. You would too. 2) The minimum wage worker behind the counter is not friendly because they are regularly yelled at and abused by the "public", i.e. any random drug addict, or rude, abusive low class person. 3) The worker is aloof and behind a 2" thick layer of bullet proof plastic because the previous workers got killed in robberies. Hard to be friendly and form a community when people are shooting at you. 4) They don't loan out gas cans because after the first 10 never returned, they gave up. Bottom line is that the gas station is a _reflection_ of the larger society around it. Don't blame them.
