Thank's for taking the time to explain everything. Not a lot of channel's do this. I'll have to watch more of your videos. I need to make a parts list and decide to keep the n54 or switch to a ls motor. :)
nice videos great info keep the videos coming sure a lot of people are wanting to do this swap being one of them 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 what about do a super charger setup like a procharger ?
Hey man if you haven’t already seen, the CAN adapters are available on the website now, have been for about 8 months I just saw your comment replying to someone else, incase you aren’t in the Facebook group
Looking at this swap, as with many swaps, the LS sits way far back in the engine bay. Is there sufficient clearance to replace the rearmost two plugs without pulling the engine back out?
Is there a chance you could make a custom crossmember for AWD E90s? I don't mind replacing the subframe, but I would love to be able to mount a T56 or 4L80 in my E91. RWD E91 wagons are so difficult to come by and would love to do this to my wagon.
Have you ever made a 411 pcm work with the bmw peddle or know somebody that has? I can’t afford the Holley just yet and have just about everything I need to swap my car
Love your e90 ls swap video always editing and easy to understand. I'm inspired to do this swap on my e90. I have i couple if questions I have a 5.7 ls from a 2001 chevy express 1500 I was wondering if I could use a nv3500 tras with your mounting kit and I was also wondering if the ls from the express would be good for this swap thank you so much love you videos
Appreciate it! We have not verified fitment of the nv trans so I cannot say that it will work with my mounts. The t56 cross member is adjustable about 4 inches front to back so you may want to compare with t56 mounting locations.
What wiring has to be done for the push start to work? I am going to be ordering the kit in the next couple weeks when I decide what engine to go with, thinking lq9 but might be leaning to l33 have to see the weight difference. Also the kit calls for a 4l80, can we use a 4l60 with the transmission crossmember provided?
Felix Roldan if you’ll watch part 1 of the series, Mike explains exactly what wiring needs to be done. Also no, the 4l80 crossmember only works with the 80.
You can piggy back the stock pcm with the Holley, Mike is currently working on a CAN box for stock GM pcm’s so that in the future stock harness/pcm swaps will be possible and keep the dash working as well. This will solve the emissions stuff for 90% of you guys.
It differs, there’s multiple pulley sizes, crank pulley sizes, alternator pulley, tensioner pulley, so the best way is to use string and route it through the accessory drive then subtract an inch and go with that length
Ls motors are very efficient, a 5.3 with mild cam and good tune will still average over 20mpg if you keep your foot out of it. Corvettes routinely average 25-30mpg highway
There are a few guys who have used an F80 M3 DCT, the easiest way is to use the HTG controller, highly recommend reaching out to Mead Motorsports Tuning and Services on Facebook, he can walk you though everything needed, he was the first guy to do one with an LS swap
do you sell a low mount alternator bracket with the e82 kit? id like to talk to you in detail as im pulling my motor this weekend and prepping to swap very soon
David, email us at hangmanenterprises@gmail.com one of our friends has swapped an E60 525 and mike may be able to get you setup with the accessory brackets that were used for that car
Please let us know if you hear of anyone's success in swapping into an e92 xdrive seeing the subframe is different. I want to try it on my e92 manual coupe. Much appreciated.
@@lse90garage Dang, lol I placed the order and was going to try to make things work. I just emailed sales in hopes of getting things swapped over to the xdrive fitment. Hopefully that can work out before you guys are too far into it. Thx.
This option will work but you need to compare the shifter location with the Fbody T56 trans, if they’re comparable you should be able to use it no problem. Mike knows of someone using an AR5 trans and those fit and work perfectly fine.
Love the work that you guys are doing🤘🏼 A little. It help is needed for me Doing an LS3 swap in Australia on a e92 323i. How did you get A/C hooked up? Need some insight 😅
Hey mate, sorry I can't offer any input on the AC, but I have a RHD 335i up in QLD I'm looking to convert after blowing my motor. How did you get on with doing this swap on the RHD e92? Did you end up using parts from this kit?
Hey Pete, no problem. I started the swap before I watched this series (around Feb), so I ended up using a kit from CXRacing. Everything is done except wiring and brakes. Been some delays with COVID as well. Happy to provide more details if needed Cheers
@@eglavas Cheers for the reply. What headers did you end up using? Did you have any clearance issues with the starter motor and the steering shaft? And yeah, can definitely see covid slowing things down. Been a nightmare sourcing parts for another project of mine at the moment.
When I brought the motor I had the stock headers (2011 HSV Senator) but ended up using a set of GTS-R ones for a lower profile. Will eventual go for a set of Manta or X-force headers once on the road From my knowledge the only clearance issues we had was the steering shaft due to the engine mounts designed only for LHD. Modification was needed regardless due to the overall design. Everything fitted snug with just enough clearance
@@eglavas Thanks mate. Gives me hope that it all won't be too hard. Have the motor pulled on my E92 debating whether to rebuild or LS, but all this gives me hope!
If it's anything like the E6x, you need to swap out the majority of front end parts: steering column, power steering, strut/spring/knuckle/etc, subframe, sway bar, and control arms/tie rods/etc. The trans tunnel also has different mounting points, if assuming it's like the E6x. With how cheap E90s are, it'd be easier and cheaper to just sell the xi and buy a RWD model.
@@sofuzzywuzzy I wanted to ask the same question as the other guy, especially since it's so difficult to find RWD wagons. I have an E91 and wouldn't want to search for a RWD model.
Labor starts at $5750 for the base swap package with wiring, engine and trans swap, driveshaft, and exhaust off stock manifolds. Price increases if you want fuel system upgrades, 8.8 swap, headers, cam kit, etc.
Nice set up. What a drag it's not applicable to use on a e92 328x drive coupe. I want to gut mine and convert with my son. Hopefully there's some subtle tweaks that will be available in the near future to be able to work with you guys. Best straight forward info yet. Nice work.
We are speaking with a gentleman who has an xdrive and wants us to perform the swap, Mike May use this opportunity to build a set of xdrive mounts, stay tuned.
I would most definitely be excited to see a way to swap my e90 328xi I’ve been looking for routes to take between LS or 2JZ swaps while keeping AWD (Xdrive) if there are any forums or ways to LS/2JZ swap an xdrive e90 drop a link
Mike has developed E60 mounts, and we are currently finishing a swap in a 530i. There are differences and once the 5 series is 100% we’ll go over them but right now we’re still in the development and testing side for the E60 chassis. Several videos on it if you go over to the channel
@@lse90garage that's great news for me ,I got the e60 already but it doesn't run right and you make look like a no brainer ,let me know when the kit is ready
has this been done before? i know andrei in texas had a low mount alternator when he had his other motor in the car but he said with the 5.3 he has a truck bracket now.
Will be available very soon, Mike is finishing up the first batch, availability will be limited but second batch will be incoming. We will make a post about it once they’re live for purchase
Jose Alvarado if you’re capable yourself, parts wise the owner has about $6000 into this one so far. If you’re paying someone to do all the work plus track down parts and assemble longblocks etc, expect to pay around $12-15000 all in.
@@lse90garage if i remember correctly from the other video it was stated this car is getting a rear turbo setup. is that including those parts or 6k for the swap itself? I have an e90 sitting in a field i've been wanting to do this for a while
Patrick Quigley the 6k is just the n/a swap with all the random parts needed, as well as the engine, transmission, cam kit, McLeod twin disk clutch, holley EFI Kit, fuel system, etc. we will be doing an in depth break down of cost in the final video.
@@lse90garage the only other thing I've disconnected is the EKP fuel module.. does this run on the pt can as well? thanks from responding, much appreciated
I(Garrett) paid $400 for my 335i roller with a clean title, the blower car on the channel, crazy deals out there, if you can get one still complete for $1500 the motor, trans and cars will actually put you up a few hundred bucks before you even get started
In order to pass inspection, North Carolina plugs in their machine into the OBD2 port but since an aftermarket ECU is being used to control the engine. is there a way to still maintain OBD2 compliancy?
From what we understand regarding smog laws. The car needs to pass emissions based on the engine that’s been swapped, so if you install one from a 2003 Chevy truck, the emissions testing is based on that, it is possible to piggy back the stock GM ECU with the Holley so that it is there with a working OBD2, however you would need to wire it correctly and then have someone tune it to pass obd2 inspections. We do not offer this service.
