NOT ME! I hated this man and every member of the Steelers teams as a Raiders fan. Jack Tatum was my idol as a defensive back. However, Now that I hear what they did to him I am sickened. I owe Mr Swan an apology bc he is very honorable. I have always had an image in my mind that the Raiders were misfits that were scrappy and made other teams earn every inch. I’m learning the other side that they were dirty.

They were good,but one of the first teams to get heavy into steroids, a good number died from steroids abuse,so million dollar Question, how much did the steroids help,look what it did to baseball, so don't say it don't help,four super bowls,but BIG ASTERIX

I had the privilege of packing up Lynn's house when he left Pittsburgh a few years back and he flew home because his wife was stressed out. He was so awesome to talk to and very generous to us movers.

Lynn Swann- where to begin? I was an 8 yr old white boy from Toronto Canada pretending I was Mr Swann in my front and back yard. This man was the man. It was like watching Bobby Orr. Mr Swann was a good on the field. He was smooth. Him and Terry B made me love the Steelers. So did Mr Stallworth. Mr Swann is a top 10 receiver of all time

We here in Pgh were so fortunate to draft Lynn. He was a champion before he went to USC and Pgh. As he alouds in this interview he had his future plans. WE won four ( 4 ) super bowls because of HOF players as Lynn Swann. thank you Lynn GOD Bless

Big props and respect to the great Lynn Swann! I grew up a COWBOYS fan beginning in the 1977 season, and it was hard to watch Mr. Swann destroy my team. Lynn Swann is one of the greatest receivers to ever play the game! He had grace, balance, style, acrobatic ability, and the heart of a champion. Today, he's a man of class and integrity. There will NEVER be another athlete like Lynn Swann.

He always amazed me with the ability to make those acrobatic catches. He made the hall of fame eventually,as one of the voting sports writers was out in California watching a pop Warner type game. A kid made a fantastic catch for a TD. He came to the sidelines and said Coach did you see that Lynn Swan catch, the sports writer told the story to the voting judges for hall of fame inductees. Swan got their vote to be inducted. What a amazing athlete who inspired many of Youn kids to excell to be their best in football and life.

@ilyedtou they had a great team,but it gave them an edge,and a few of them are no longer here because of the abuse,if you don't think it helps,look at baseball, guys go from 15 ,20 home runs,to 50 ,55,if it didn't help,they wouldn't do it,there was no testing back then forget that I was a huge Dallas fan back then,I'm going by what they said,before they were put in a box at an early age because of the performance enhanced drug abuse,and I admit,my spelling is terrible, mostly from drug abuse of a different kind,while going to school,but late 60s,70s 80s,was great football a lot better and tuffer,then this crap they call football

I mostly agree, after all Barry Bonds played here, I know all about the tremendous boost it gave his home run totals, and the size of his head…. But if some of the Steelers did take them they we weren’t the only ones in the league that did, and steroids weren’t illegal in the 70s. Hell someone that played for the 60s Packers said they used to have amphetamine pills in bowls setting on the lunch table. The abuse they took back then be it physical or pharmaceutical certainly contributed to way to many NFL deaths! The spelling comment was simply because I thought you were trolling me with the steroid comment. Hell, I use spell checker all the time! Take care and glad to hear all that “stuff” is in your past!!

After leaving USC, Swann was always on the opposing side from my rooting interest. However, he aIways had my respect and admiration and I was really pleased inside when he did well.....even when "it hurt" . I admired his toughness and athleticism. He was targeted with some brutal hits....

What wasn't mentioned.or maybe hadn't come out yet, was that as a free agent Donnie Shell became the FIFTH Hall of Famer on that 1974 Steelers draft team. It took 40 years for Shell to make it. So Shell, as a college free agent gives that year a number that staggers the mind. FIVE Hall of Famers in one draft year. Four was hard to comprehend before Shell got in. Five is unbelievable. Technology evens the playing field for all the teams these days. We can safely say that this record will never be broken. 😮🙂

I loved him when I was a kid. He was not black, white or anything. He was Lynn. Lynn was a guy who you really really liked and just kinda felt like you wanted to be him. I was a fast white guy who ran track so I related to Lynn for some weird reason. People said white guys cannot run fast. I could.. Anyways, Lynn had what I liked. He had dancer acrobatic skills. That's like next level. He could dance in the air. He could feel the play in the air. Lynn had a mind for the game. He could feel the play like it was art. Everyone is faster. Everyone is more powerful. Lynn was art in the game

The greatest names in sports came from the 70s - Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, Cale , Pete Rose , Johnny Bench , Kareem , Wilt, Jack Lambert , Mean Joe Greene just to name a few - Lynn Swann is about as perfect of a descriptive name ever - He was a majestical player - and to think he was - numbers don't lie - the 2nd best receiver ! crazy when you look at those Pittsburgh teams - Mr Art Rooney was the best - wish I could have bought him a beer and give him a horse at the racetrack

Swann didn't have the stats like some other all time greats as I think he's the most underrated hof. Without swann I don't think steelers would have been a dynasty. Swann was very underrated.

Swann didn't have the stats because he didn't play as long as a lot of players. Plus the Steelers leaned on Harris running the ball more than passing since it took Bradshaw a while to get his accuracy

I use to live in Pennsylvania I recall going in a grocery store called Giant Eagle . I was at the checkout when the cashier said look there is Lynn Swann . I turn and he was walking by carrying a few groceries I spoke to him he looked with a big smile said hello and continued toward the door . That was shocking to see a person like him in a regular grocery store . Another shock was I going into a restaurant and there was a car in front of it and driving the car was Pittsburghs head coach Bill Coward . We spoke he spoke and waved back . I never thought in my life to meet people like them in ordinary places .

i Always liked Lynn Swann He was Graceful an Tough on the Football Field - in the Summer of 1986 , i went to see about taking some Ballet Classes to Help Me with My Footwork on the Hoop Court , i got the ideal from Lynn Swann who said He took Ballet an it Helped Him with His Footwork an Coordination, i didnt go thru with it because i wore a Size 15 sneaker an it would have been to Hard to Find Ballet Shoes at Size 15 in 1986.

He was amazing, go watch some of the old steeler games here on RU-vid. The abuse he took was amazing for his size. These guys today couldn’t put up near the numbers they do today back then!! If he played today it would be incredible! The game has changed too,they don’t run anywhere near as much as the Steelers did then. Bradshaw had a cannon for an arm but accuracy wasn’t his strong suit, he left them guys out there hanging all the time!

The 70’s were awesome. Players much more humble and most had to work other jobs. No entitlement no woke crap. My 7 th grade football banquet in 1971 Joe Namath and Emerson boozer are there. My dad and neighbor sitting with them both drinking a beer and having a cigarette. He calls me over introduces me. They were just great men who truly took an interest in me and my other teammates. An era of players and men that is long gone.

When I was a kid I used to go out to the yard and throw the ball to myself. If I was Swann, then I would throw the ball up high so that I could leap and try to hang and catch it. Other times, I was Stallworth, so I would throw the ball over the wrong shoulder and catch it smooth and deceptively. Good times.

Lynn would average 1400 yards in today's game.. Running Backs were as important as quarterbacks back then . today it's all in the air. Nobody had more style and grace than Lynn Swann.

The best ever. Folks talk about Jerry Rice, but Joe Montana was a short yardage passer. Montana didn't have the arm that Terry Bradshaw had. Lynn would catch bombs and hail-marys. The athleticism was off the charts.

Lifelong cowboys fan, watched both SB vs Steelers. Got to tip my hat to Swann, graceful as a 🦢 swan, the cowboys just had no answer for Swann. Benny Barnes, Mark Washington, Charley Waters, nobody could cover him. In my opinion, the single handled reason the Steelers beat the cowboys. Remember in 2 SB that only lost by a total 8 points so that were very close. I do feel also though that they was robbed by the official on a bogus pass interference on Benny Barnes which may have cost them one of the SBs. Today that would be called incidental contact where Barnes fell down in front of Swann and Swann trips over him. If the CB is on front of you and falls, you can change direction, that call still leaves a bitter taste. But other than that call Swann was unstoppable not to mention coming of a brutal game against the raiders and "the Assassin" #32 Jack Tatum.

What never gets talked about when it comes to catching a ball is the ability of a receiver to put himself in the place where the ball will be - and to put your body in a position to catch the ball. Real receivers can see the ball launch from a hand, or even from a bat when it comes to baseball, and know immediately where they need to be to be under that ball and catch it. When football receivers like Swan do these things, everybody thinks that the quarterback threw the ball exactly where it needed to be. Nonsense. Swan nested the ball. Nobody would ever say that a baseball player hit the ball exactly where the outfielder was going to be, but this is done in football all the time.
