@@ReneRitchie I think the tech is really interesting. So, more about how it works. When M1 came out, it was so fast, and most reviews just said that. Tell me more about WHY it’s so fast (which you did). Dive into the differences between types of cores, a bit about the memory architecture, etc. Doesn’t have to be Anandtech deep, but deeper than the simplistic “hey, we did an export with Final Cut and wow, it finished a minute ahead of the x86 machine!” (again, which you did NOT do). I think diving into the “Can Apple sustain this performance lead?” question is really important and interesting. Also, the interviews with the Apple team were interesting to cut through the launch day specs and ask the more difficult follow-up questions.

@@ReneRitchie Just keep calling bulls**t on the sensationalistic "hot-takes" on the Pro/Cons of the latest device and provide concise perspective on what really matters when evaluating a piece of hardware (or any heavily debated technology). You are the best of the best at that. Keep it up!

@@ReneRitchie I want to see how the M1-M2 Pro & M2 max preforms on Ubuntu 22,04,Fedora 38, Arch Manjaro and Parrot Security Arra. Would love to see its preformance via stacer how much ram is used on both flatpaks and Snap packages. Would also love to see how it would run with better thermal pasting, thermal paste replacement and thermal pads on ram chips and SSd chipset like Thermal Grizzly how stable would it be on dual boot as well. That could actually boost your preformance significantly a lot of people are lazy to tweak tune modify and ofc speed up and clean the whole system they just want it run of the box it does not work that way in my experience with pretty much any piece of hardware or equipment in general. You should purge any games, any weather apps you ain't using.

Oh, interesting. There are for sure trade-offs that have to be made given the limits of even ridiculously high transistor counts. Hope we see more on this!

It seems to be some sort of improved IO/cache for the GPU, I think Apple is trying to fix the GPU scaling issues on M1.

@@ReneRitchie However the spirits moves you man. However it’d be great if it moved you at least twice a month 😆. Translation: I enjoy the content, would like to see just a little bit more of the schedule permits… nothing everyday or every week, but maybe a few times a month if that’s possible.

Honestly, I needed a break. All the sensationalism and catastrophizing to get attention around Mac Studio and MacBook Air really soured me on the whole scene. It's been nice to step away from that and get some perspective! Maybe I can eventually figure out something better?

Isn't N4 3rd gen and N4P 4th gen?

@Rene Ritchie I think N4 is a replacement for N5 starting from 2021. N5P is 2nd Gen 5nm, and N4P is 3rd Gen 5nm.

Even for Apple, keeping up with bleeding edge chip foundries is just massive massive capex. Also keep in mind wafer costs increased, but this isn't proportional to chip cost increases, as you can fit the same transistors on less size now, though Apple usually increases the transistor budget instead.

I wasn't implying that TSMC was raising prices outta nowhere - but Apple playing a game of chicken with the contract renewal makes me feel like they're not happy about it Also it's not so much them raising prices as much as them getting rid of bulk discounts. Getting those discounts was Tim Cook's specialty and you can bet he's not happy about it.

I think Apple is going to invest in packaging to work around the physical and financial limits TSMC is hitting on pure process shrink?

ever since they switched, their laptops have become so much more competitive with the windows laptop field. I upgrade from an 8th gen i5 to an m1 pro 14 and the battery life and performence is nuts. I'm interested to see what plans they have of bringing things like wifi, bluetooth, and cellular modems in house

@@nidalspam509 It's a night and day difference. The temperatures are what shock me the most - my MBA doesn't even have a fan and it runs half as hot when streaming with OBS as my previous Intel did while doing light browsing and other productivity tasks
