This is crazy. This came out 2016 and it's 2019. This is 3 years old. I remember watching it like it was yesterday. GOD, time sure does fly by.

Pleasantly surprised with Other Joe's acting skills here.

Playing this free with ps plus. So far I like it but the world feels dead and empty. Plenty of silly glitches too.

A game about Mexican cartels would be more interesting.

Playing this since it was free... but Joe nailed it.. the cut scenes are amazingly done. Graphics, voice acting, motion capture etc... but the grind omg... I only did 2 districts I'm already bored... it's the same shit over and over...

Mafia 2 is my favourite game of all time and you can guess how pissed I was about this game

This game honestly has one of the best stories I’ve ever played. Some of the BEST cutscenes I’ve ever seen in a game. Some of the best characters I’ve ever seen in a game. Probably THE best use of music in a game I’ve ever played. And then just reaaaaally terrible gameplay. The gameplay is the worst part. lol

Think how much better Mafia 3 would have been if they implemented the Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor.

A lot of games aren't living up to the hype this year.

I started playing this game and the story looks so interesting at the beginning. With the preacher talking about Lincoln and the music and everything. It feels great. But the gameplay isn't good. I like shooting with those old guns but it's not enough to make the game good. The game is called Mafia so I was expecting you being part of a family and doing organized crime shit but this is just a revenge story. I played a game about mafia years ago, I think it was Godfather. Not sure which one tho and your character was part of a family and you were fighting against other families. It feeled like a game about mafia. Mafia 3 just feels like a story about someone wanting revenge who go on a murder spree

Those senate hearings IMO were really strong because they made the story feel more important, like one man really did tear an entire mafia apart and terrorized an American city doing so.

Damn... I remember playing Godfather II on the Xbox 360 years ago and that game had you roughing up the underboss if you want to get their racket with the highest cash and make it a part of yours and if you rough him up too much, you'd lose so much cash and the racket itself. Did I mention you could customize you're character and the 3 people you enlisted to your party, as well as the mafia you control?

Almost 8 years later and the game is so incredibly broken. I’m fighting with the game just to finish the story! I’ve had crazy FPS drops, cutscenes that went dark or had no audio, I even had a save file glitch out near the end (thank god I could go in the ps4 settings and delete a recent save). And the most annoying bug of all, after collecting about 70% of the collectibles, I loaded up my game again and ALL of them were returned to where I picked them up and my progression was reset to 0. 8 YEARS LATER. Ridiculous!

Got this game for free for PS Plus. 4 hours in, and I made a horrible realization. This game that takes place in 1968 has 0 Beatles songs on it's radio soundtrack. Call me crazy, but not having Beatles songs in your game in the 60's seems like a massive oversight, especially when the radio has 100 tracks from other great artists from that time period.

The cutscenes are good as hell. The intro is so great and has you on edge. Then it lets you down so much until near the end.

I don't care the main character is black, I mean, there WERE real black mafias. But Mafia isn't about those mafias. Mafia is about the Italian mafia.

I preferred Mafia 2's linear story to this weird GTA/Saints Row/Shadow of Mordor knock off. What a shame.

You can customize clothes from the wardrobe closet, cars customization and throwables with Burke, open gang warfare happens outside of your motel if you take a certain path, but I do agree with you on the repetitive story missions.

I think people (like AngryJoe) fell in love with the "honor bound" Mafioso (Vito Scaletta) as "the good guy". I think that this time, 2K took another route and showed the dishonorable, back-stabbing, self-serving Mafiosi (Marcano crime family), who got exactly what they had coming to them. I don't think that makes it any less of a Mafia game. The story is just told from a different perspective.

You made great points Joe and I felt the same when I started out,but after getting into the twist of the story I really enjoyed the game from then on,repetitiveness and all. I gave it a chance and the overall story was compelling enough to finish. Glad I stuck it out and ignored the bad reviews.

Looked like a good game at the beginning, but as the story goes on, it’s just a bunch of the same shit. My roommate at the time was hyping it up so I was kind of excited, but really disappointed once I played it. And you said it best Joe; after a strong opening, it gets so repetitive, I stopped caring so I stopped playing. The soundtrack was fire though. Hendrix, the stones, James brown, etc. soundtrack gets a 10/10, game itself I give a 3/10. Good breakdown of the game though Joe. Love your videos.

The sad part is ppl will still buy this and grind the repetitive missions then claim the game is good to make themself feel better. Whatever happened to the days were ppl just said "That game sucks". Now all we get is "that is subjective", or "That is your opinion" even when the game is blatantly terrible thanks to all this pc passive aggressive bs we get nowadays.

Maffia III things to fix on next update. *60 fps - Done. *Skyboxes - make 'em prettier *Variety of missions and put "new missions" in between. *Mafia elements within the City - gangwars, buy properties, visit shops, goto islands and enjoy vacation. *Interactment and progression within City - first people treat you like shit as lowlife then with "not respect but fear" and lay low. *Recruiting - new members, kids to mafia, send members out on missions - etc *Implications - Visit peoples graves, see people cry/shout at you, let their feelings be part of you *Stock market - why not? *Relaxing sports and hobbies - fishing, bathing, playgrounds, tennis, golf, pool, goto movies, visit cafe's , visit dealers, *Decorating - House, cars, private casinos, decorate hotels and restaurant? Mafia owned all of a City back in the days, right?

They really need to remaster mafia 2 because it was bae mafia 3 was a big disappointment for me. It just doesn't feel like a mafia game no Tommy guns and men in suits just a generic guy who kills people it's quite sad.

Mafia 2 was never repetitive. You did different things in every mission. Sure, the methods were more or less the same, but at least the game wasn't making you grind for shit. Shit you do in mafia 2 by chapter: 1) Fight in world war 2. 2) Take a ride in joe's car, learn some shit about the world, get introduced to vito's family, set up a minor conflict (vito has to pay off his family's debt). Drive joe's car to guiseppe to get discharged. Get a car of your own and pimp the shit outta it. Go to bruskis and become contracted to steal a car. Steal the car from thugs that try to kill you, bring it back after a wild police chase and get paid 500 for it, where joe takes 300. Go home 3) Talk to derrick to get gainful employment as you made a promise to vito's mom. You go there, realize it's back breaking work and throw a fit. They realize you work for joe, verify it and make you go around beating up dockworkers to get money. Then you go to a bar, meet henry and luca and are contracted to rob a fucking government building for gas stamps. You do that and realize that the gas stamps expire at midnight, so now you gotta drive like hell to get get gas stamps to gas station dudes. You even get achievements for how many gas stations you hit, but the game will not fail you traditionally with a game over screen. 4) You rob a jewelry store, run into some irish dudes and you get a huge ass wanted level. This mission is cool because it actually makes you wanted without a car and a long way from your house. Cops are brutal in this game and you wont survive if you don't know what you are doing. 5) You get contracted to kill this mofucka. After that you are promised that you are going to be inducted into the family for 5k. You say yes and go to be buy a fuckin mounted machine gun to blast the shit outta some guys. You then go into a distillery to kill a dude. You succeed but Henry gets shot so you gotta race cops to a doctors office. You deliver 2k to pay off your dads debt. 6) YOU GO TO FUCKIN PRISON FOR 10 YEARS CUZ OF THE SHIT YOU DID IN CHAPTER 3! THIS IS A CRIME GAME WHERE ONE OF THE MISSIONS ACTUALLY MAKES YOU BE IN PRISON. You beat some fucks up and gain the protection of a dude who works for a different family named leo galante. you kill the irish dude that you bumped into in chapter 4 wth a knife, and you serve the rest of your sentence in leo's cell. Oh and you get your sentence shortened. 7) You go to celebrate returning back home wht joe and his new bud eddie who works for a different family. You learn there is a body n the back of the car so you gotta go bury it. Shit gets nasty. 8) you go selling smokes until these greasers torch your truck. You then go to their hideout and kill all of them. TO pay for the truck you steal their cars and sell them to derrick. 9) You follow luca to a slaughter house to save these two dudes who work for your family. You save the dudes and they kill luca. You then get inducted into the family. 10) You sneak into a hotel that clemente's guys are hanging out in. You blow that shit up and kill clemente. One of joe's buds get's killed and so you gotta go get his ass from a bar where he shoots this dude out of grief and drunkenness. You gotta destroy the car and the body after taking joe home. 11) You help henry get a job for falcone by taking him to see eddie. They make a deal that henry gotta kill leo. SO you race to leo's house to try to stop henry and cut a deal that saves leo's life. either way you take leo to the airport and he dissapears. Henry get's the job. You go home to find your sister on the stairs crying. Her husband is partying and you go to stop his ass. When you get back you go to bed and are awakened by these homies who are irish. They torch your house. You go to joe's and he insists that you go kill the irish fucks. You do and that's that. 12) this chapter sucks. Seriously I hate it. Still unique in that you sell drugs with henry, despite the commission frowning on that shit. 13) Henry get's killed by some chinese fucks so you go and murder them. You find out henry is a fed and that you vouched for his ass. Everyone is pissed at you and joe now. 14) You gotta pay off a loan shark that you owe money from (you take out the loan in chapter 12). You do this by killing Angelo (the protagonist from the first game) and killing derrick for killing your daddy. You get the money, pay off the loan shark and that's it. 15) Leo scoops you up in his limo, yells at you for making a mess and says you gotta kill falcone to make shit better. You go to the observatory and kill falcone. Joe helps you do this, and you get into two separate cars to go celebrate. The cars separate and the credits fly. Mafia 3: You just go around and kill people to take over the city by blowing stuff up, interrogating people and that's it. Sometimes unique missions surface but they are too few and far in between. If mafia 3 got rid of this and replaced it with a focused set of missions that only advance the plot and that is it, it would be a fuckin masterpiece. Agree?

This game should be called Taxi Driver the game because the main character you control: Lincoln Clay is a complete rip of Scorecse's Travis Bickle. Think about it; both characters are Vietnam vets suffering from pts, they both wear the same army jackets they both are psychotic murders from the brain dead mission design. It all adds up. Lincoln Clays a black version of Travis Bickle.

This game was like the Suicide Squad of AAA list games this year. Spent so much money on awesome actors and music, but rushed the hell out of the core premise of it. Joe said it himself, starts out strong, boring and lack of creativity in the later half. Arrgh

They should of just done a linear story.

I got the complete edition for SUpEr cheap on a PlayStation store sale. It was only like $10 I think and it was super worth it. The DLC was awesome. And I’m a huge fan of the 60s 70s and 80s pop culture sooooo

I just played the demo for this game. Omg, I was blown away by the story. The betrayal scene hit me soooo hard and I was so tempted to buy it. Really wish they delayed this game, could've been a master piece.

dlc actually helped a lot, new weapons and tools really helps and new mission also helps, but indeed it can get tedious after a while

the DLC fixes most of the problems. It’s just ashame the base game isn’t like the DLC tho
