Exactly. She valued and respected herself to not put herself in such a crazy situation. She probably had no respect for him and thought he could possibly do the same to her if they got together. What really is upsetting is how his girlfriend, who was good to him, probably had no idea about him wanting this lady, and he could remain with his gf while also pursuing this lady, and his gf did not know anything about it. His gf was being treated like an option and had no clue. That’s dirty.

Keep working on yourself, if she does reach out you want her to see how much you improved. Even if you don't want her back by that time, it will feel good, success is the best revenge. But don't give yourself false hope, try to move on, figure out the things you didn't like about her and don't beat yourself up, not everything is your fault. If she cared enough, she would try to work things up. Even if she comes back, after a while you probably won't want her back because of what she did to you (by leaving you and not contacting you. At least I think it will be like that in my case) My relationship was 4.5 yrs, I started fresh NC 2 days ago (previous 3 weeks NC she reached out once + christmas + new yrs). She just deleted my last photo on her insta. She doesn't hate me, I think she wants to be friends but knows it's not possible. I'm again at a bad place atm, can't focus on anything, but I hope it gets better. Her contacting you will only regress your progress. It kinda did in my case. Working on yourself, meeting new people, being more communicative and improving self confidence should be our main focus. And friends and gym. We don't want someone who doesn't want us in their lives.

I'm still confused. Why would a 40 yr old man not realize that this woman has her own agenda that just doesn't include him? I find that most men have "mommy issues", but being mature in age, perhaps he should have a loving & respectful conversation with his mother to resolve those issues. He's definitely old enough to conclude that 'mom' also has trauma from her childhood that spilled over into her parenting style. It sounds as if he understands he's views aren't healthy. Perhaps a little intense therapy addressing his wounded inner child is in order...? I pray this man is able to find resolution, that he may better enjoy his 'Golden Years'. For me, unfortunately, sometimes that’s just not going to happen because that person doesn’t have any morals or he/she never really had feelings. It’s more liberating to just let go and have comfort in the idea that you are going to be fine while they are going to be miserable as long as they continue to behave this way.

Julia M, I agree. There's a chance they will never regret although I sincerely believe that regretting wrong actions and bad behaviours is the first step for self-criticism and self-development. It's not only a payback for whoever once was left behind but also a gift for the person itself who mistreated them.

Georgia Papadopoulou you are right however I think that some people are not capable to such a growth. Maybe it’ll take years for them to realize that, but in such a case waiting for that moment is punishing yourself. I truly believe that it is ok to break up with someone you don’t truly love but some people do it all wrong and hurt you so much in the process.

Met another man a wonderful guy was in a relationship with him for 8 yrs. He dropped.dead suddenly.when we were on vacation. I thought I would die. I didn't . I later met a wonderful man, we married and had 25 yrs together he died suddenly of a heart attack. I thought I would die. I didn't. I eventually had an relationship with a man who I grew to love and stil do but it didn't work out. Now I am alone with memories of the joys and sorrows of loving and I didn't die and neither will you. You learn to live through the pain because we woman are stronger than we imagine. Now I love my Chihuahuas and to heck with men. They either walk out on you or die.
