Whenever I have to make one of these little brackets it sure has made me happy that I can fabricate. It doesn't always come out looking perfect, however it always works as intended.
Now this isn't something I would offer as a service to my customers, however I always love making up small parts like this for my own personal use.
It is always handy having access to all this equipment at work as well. It never hurts.

I was once told the $15 part I needed wasn’t in the budget. Two days later I finished making it only to have someone on another shift toss it in the scrap bin.

Love the honesty and "it's close enough" attitude to this bracket's finish.. It does give us DIYers hope that anything similar that we have to make, without the costly machinery, might just be good enough too.. I made four of these to hold metal poles to a wall, maybe not as heavy duty as these, but still thick enough to do the job, all came out, "close enough" to what was intended and are still doing the job 5 years on.. Whilst I love all your videos and delight in seeing heavy mechanicing, repairs and the production of parts, I would offer one piece of advice, Don't take up autobody spraying, it was so funny seeing the bracket sprayed like that.. :D

You made a conduit bracket. Plumber or electrician would have just used some steel strapping. Wrapped it around the pipe and sent a couple of screws through it into the wood.

I laughed when you kicked the bracket on its side to paint the bottom. I have done the same thing on other projects.😅😅

Small brackets, big brackets, all with large metalworking tools ! Pretty close to Heaven in my opinion! Good work-

Using a giant solid chunk of steel and then milling it down to make that bracket would be the only other way I can see you making an even more over the top video 😱

hmmm could break a few end-mills as well to rack up the cost. lol.

With that big press, I'm sure with the right dies, you could make a lot more if you don't already. I saw the custom springs you can make. Nice to see skillz in action.

the Ubolt bender has about 20 dies. I made about 40 more custom sized dies for it.

yep, far easier to just make them yourself, if you ever do have to buy one, I reckon a fencing supply place might be the place to start, looks like the sort of bracket used to mount farm gates to posts.

Oh, I think they're selling that bracket for $2.99 at Big Lots, aisle 5, next to the cookies. Can't miss it, it's in a red box with a bow on top.😉

@@simcoespring The man is a marketing genius as well. Is there anything you can’t do? Btw. I’m looking for a career change and your shop looks like a really cool place to work. But in the interest of full disclosure I must inform you that I have absolutely no mechanical ability whatsoever. I hope that’s not gonna be a deal breaker.

I don't have $200K of equipment. When I run into the same problem, my solution is to buy a steel u-clamp (pipe clamp) at the local hardware store. To make the short legs on the clamp fit your situation, I just add a wooden spacer between the clamp and the post. I've mounted several things that way and they all seem to work well.

Love your channel, so I don't want to rain on your parade, but .... Making a functional bracket, or hook is no big deal. It's probably the most fabricated thing in the world ...... and probably most of them look like something that was the result of a train wreck. So the challenge is to be able to make one that has inovative and intelegent design and looks like it was made by a skilled craftsman, .... or at least by a factory machine that was purpose built to fabricate it. Viewers of this kind of content always enjoy seeing a fabricator that thinks outside the box, with great ideas on how to do so. Thanks
