I've always thought about making a colorful and exciting game like Kingdom Hearts and so I decided to finally make my dream game that will be heavily inspired by popular PS2-Era action RPGs.

As an indie game addict and KH fan, I'm super excited! One of the reasons I love KH is because there's no other game like it in terms of art style and combat. But after seeing this video, I'm convinced you know your stuff. Can't wait for the full release!

This KH project is really inspiring! I find it when KH fan projects are made, there’s a lot of trial and error when making action RPG games, but this one really captures its gameplay mechanics, although the combat system was not shown in Luminous Realms! It’s been ages since I played the first Kingdom Hearts game. The platforming there never showed up in future installments. If you could pull off something like that in your game and take it to the next level, I’d definitely be interested in playing it. Good luck with your work! Your idea of using older techniques to allow it to have optimal performance really shows why some games today are a broken mess. Modern devs with modern tools get so excited with what they can do they never stop ask if they should and if there's more optimal way

If you are gonna make a Kingdom hearts like game, what stat chant are you gonna use? This is awesome dude. Personally KH2 has my favorite combat system out of maybe any game I've played, I just think the combat feels so good and is so fun, and is simultaneously challenging and intuitive, and I've been hoping an indie game developer would do something like this and try their hand at making a Kingdom Hearts-like game. I've thought about this so much I felt like maybe one day i would have to be the one to do it if no one else would haha. Excited to see where this goes!

I really hope this game has the exploration and secrets from KH1. KH2 is a factually superior game, but I still get drawn to 1 again and again because of all the secrets and attention to detail. Like the clock in Winnie the Pooh's house, it serves no purpose but you can see it go off. I didn't even know you could freeze the bubbles in Hollow Bastion until the ReMixes came out, and I still find it amazing

It was quite a lot of work to get it close to how KH2 camera was but I still have a lot of work to do to make the lock-on system working properly. 😅 Unfortunately I don't have the time and resources to make such a video but if you have any specific quetion regarding making the camera system you can join the discord and ask there for more detailed support 😁👍

I suddenly found this video in my recommendations today and I’m not sure why, but I don’t mind. Honestly, this is amazing! I love KH as well and kinda helped jump start making my own story with crossovers with anime worlds as a kid. I wanted to make my own Action RPG that plays like KH but with its own twist. Now seeing DBZ Kakarot with its style of gameplay I want to combine the it with KH2 style gameplay to make a unique experience. Having a weapon changing hero that fights like a Z Warrior. I wish you well on your project. What program are you using to make? What video tutorials do you recommend to learn the basic of making an Action RPG with play forming basics? I do hope to make my own game like KH one day.

I can't express how amazing this is to me! I always held the opinion that KH1 was wholly unique and the direction of the series killed what KH1 setup. In short. A spiritual successor to KH1 is a dream game for me. This is awesome. Sub for sure.

i'm interested in seeing how you did the shadow system. i assume it uses render targets? a tutorial would be great. so many action games use that, such as mario. but there is little to no documentation about such a feature online.

It looks like you're doing a great job making Luminous Realms. I wish I knew how to make games because I have an idea for a game, but unfortunately I don't know $#*t about game codes, programming things to do stuff, and making animations. Plus, I'm unable to make enough money to hire anyone. My dream will become a reality and that's ok because I've got alot of other dreams I want to pursue in my life, you can't have everything. My game idea is below, if you ever have the time to read it, I tried to make it as concise as I could. My idea is an action RPG: - You'll make a custom character. - The combat will be a mix of KH2 and KH3 but there will about as much strategizing as Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I don't know how will work out but I think it would be cool. - You have dialogue choices like in Skyrim and Persona. - The side quests will be like KH2, Persona 5, and FF7 Remake. Not sure how that would work out but I think it would be cool. And there will be secret bosses. - You'll have relationship mechanics like in Persona 5. - It will probably be an open world like Skyrim but it would be interesting if there was a calendar so you can see what time of day it is like on Persona and Skyrim and if you get to certain points in the game you have a limited time to do things like in Persona 5. That's basically the most important bits and pieces I can share with you.

That's pretty cool, it's great to have dreams like this so you can strive towards achieving them. I used to also be in the same boat and not know anything about making games and I too was thinking that the only way would be to hire others to make it. But at some point I decided to learn things on my own and I slowly started to accumulate a bunch of different skills on making games. And now I'm here today still learning new things everyday and keep challenging myself to try to make new things that I didn't think I could achieve before. So I would advice to just start trying to learn things on your own and take things step by step, starting small with simple projects and working your way up to bigger projects. Because unfortunately the reality is that the only person that can make your dreams come true is yourself. 😊

Thanks! شكرا، نعم انا عربي. في الواقع من الصعب العثور على مطورين عرب ولكن يمكنني أن أؤكد لكم أنهم موجودون هناك. أنا شخصياً أعرف العديد من المطورين العرب وهم يعملون في شركات ألعاب كبيرة مثل Square Enix و Capcom و EA.

so far this is looking really awesome! in my opinion the gliding seems rather lame as i never liked it in the original games either. maybe you could do something else to make your game more unique but i’m not 100% sure what that could be… anyways great devlog this seems like an awesome project to follow!

This game is gonna be amazing. The detail. The mechanics. UGH YES!!! this is exciting. i freaking love kingdom hearts. I don't know if your thinking of doing cross overs but I have an idea for you. For a boss fight it's gonna be one of those fight to gain a new Ally kind of thing and the character the MC would fight is gonna be Ichigo from the Bleach anime. He would be a hard boss fight and have 3 boss phases but after you defeat him he would be one of your allies or like a call for help to get through hard enemies/bosses or you can gain a new weapon after the boss fight against Ichigo. It would be awesome. Idk I'm just throwing an idea out there.
