Making the GM Screen More Affordable (also pop tarts) 

Wyrmwood's success is definitely due to letting your people be creative and make mistakes. It's so awesome to watch someone like Crazy Ed make a thing without fear of failure. Not to say there won't be failures, but they are accepted as part of the creative process. That's rare, and cool to see.

I'm agreeing with some of the other comments, Ed proves time and time again that he deserves a raise lmao

I have a lot of respect for Wyrmwood/Doug's effort to keep prices low, and most importantly, fair. You have the integrity to charge less for what you know will be less work. I wish more companies would do that. (I know it'll never happen.) Also, chocolate fudge.

The GM screens are coming together! I hope your team’s also going to offer a Signature Series Screen with similar wood and silver string options as you did for the HGS campaign. That’d look sick and serve as a great premium offering.

ED is a fucking genius not only did he save money on the GM screen but the actual sanding idea in the first place, Like it's simple and massively cost effective instead of a complicated design i say give the man more money.

The current sanding mounting, with the velcro skimming the flats of the screen, is going to leave deep gouges. Definitely hard mount like Jason suggested

S’mores or the chocolate chip cookie is probably my favorite pop tarts flavor. I will not pass up a pop tart, but I appreciate a pop tart where the crust actually tastes good so it could either be toasted or not and I will eat the entire thing 100%

I like seen and learning all the benefits that save price. Which makes it a better price for the consumer. I really am looking forward to this GM screen. Looks so much better than the first prototype

Ahhh man. I used to work in a factory with a wide belt sander and I miss it so much. Its so good for getting a perfectly even surface, accurate to 0.3mm

1. Doug is what, 6ft 4in, if not taller? 205 is nothing at that height. 2. My favorite pop tart flavor is frosted blueberry. It's my classic go to. 3. I like that Ed is so talented at finding solutions to issues that come up. Every company needs at least 1 Ed. 4. Still not sold on the GM screen design. It's not up to Wyrmwood standards, and I'm shocked that you're OK with that. Sucks that I won't be getting a screen to match any of my multiple Wyrmwood complete gaming systems.

I model these and 3D print them for stuff like this.

I am the token woodworker who doesn't hate sanding. I have no idea why but it is indeed therapeutic. If the project isn't massive i.e. lots of weird surfaces like the dm screen, let me at it. But I don't pretend like anyone else likes the process.

That Festool detail sander is a huge POS for anything with inside corners it will not make your life any easier it will just cause issues I promise speaking with a ton of experience I sunk days into the thing. It's ok for rough sanding long straight edges but as you start going up the grits it becomes a waste of time the only good answer is hand sanding with blocks lots of attention to detail work past the grit your want to finish with then bring it back down. If your target finish is 600 grit go to 800 then blend it all together with 600 and scotchbright.

VooDoo Chips are amazing!!! They're like a cajun barbecue flavor and you can find them in various parts of PA. Give them a try if you get the chance, they're very good.

I also think every good woodworker hates sanding and its because its so necessary to a nice finish. I have noticed that my woodworking technique wise hasnt improved but the amount i sand everything has grown exponentially, and that makes a big difference

The more I watch WyrmLyfe the more I'm tempted to uproot my life and move to PA or MA to work for Wyrmwood.

As far as I'm aware the festool linear sander is actually being discontinued now, so if you guys are wanting them as part of the process, I'd probably buy up all the stock you can find. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I had never had those chips before so I picked up a bag from the store based on the support in the comments. They are very crunchy but suuuuuper salty! Not bad tho 7/10

If you use the Festool like that, you can use an interface pad to preserve the og velcro. Saves you like 30 bucks each time the Velcro is dull.

you just need a hook-loop spacer on the outside edge of the sander then you'll always be aligned and level. You don't need right/left and it will avoid the burns from tilting side to side.

Could you mount that sanding device with the implement facing up, so you could hold the board and run it upside down across the piece? This way you wouldn’t have to hold the vibrating sander and might be able to move faster or with less chance of strain
