When I used to repair heavy equipment that sat for a few years with frozen track links or adjusters, I would heat the outside of the link red-hot and then hit it immediately with water, you could hear the rust releasing by the way the metal expanded/cooled. Just heat the outside of the link, not the pin.

I have spent many hours at the Chatt. Tn. Komatsu plant installing and repairing their rolling steel doors. Believe me they can do some damage coming in and going out those doors when they are not careful. The tallest door I ever put in was at the Komatsu plant 32 foot high. Probably where this machine was made. Chatt. Tn.

41:00 Suggestion for you. Get a small back-pack weed sprayer and spray a mixture of Kerosene & Diesel oil onto the tracks and leave for a few days, then move the machine 1/4 turn on both tracks and redo. Same in a few days for the "1/2" track position and then again for the 3/4 position Finally get back to the all around (start position) and give the entire lower areas of the tracks (runner wheels / open bearings, tracks etc. then leave the machine sitting a week. Then - move the machine about 1/2 mile in either direction in a fig 8 and a few circles both ways. After that, those tracks should have un-kinked themselves. If not - tighten the tracks with the adjusting rods, and redo everything again, this time, adding some hydraulic oil & some very light rust-removing oil - to the sprayer too Soon the tracks will "free" themselves up to unkink them all. Then do a final track slack adjustment and you'll be good to go. NEXT - lube the entire machine & replace any hoses and rubber pipes that appear perished.

Good job guys. It kinda surprised me though seeing you drive it that long distance over the sprocket wheels, especially after it had been standing for so long and the tracks might be stiff. I was taught to always - if at all possible - drive over the idlers, because otherwise you will pull the track on the top idlers and the track will buckle under the bottom idlers. But I am only being a smart ass and nitpicking :-) Nice to see an old girl like that in action (I have about 3000 hours on a PC240 in Iceland). Keep up the good work guys.
