I agree with the value of shoe battles. We can't buy all the great shoes, so battles help narrow things down. Over time I have found the brand/models I like best in my 3 shoe rotation of racer-daily trainer-easy/recovery.

What did you actually train in these shoes though? Did you do any speedwork in the Pro 3 at all? I just find it hard to review a shoe without using it for its intended purpose.

Came back to add that adidas addressed the issue of the energy rods breaking in the Pro 3 by making it a single unit instead of what were previously independent rods. Supposedly this also makes for a smoother turnover. Just mentioning it after seeing a number of comments from people who had rods break on them. If I had the Pro and it happened to me I’d contact adidas and exchange them, but I have the Takumi Sen8 which has more flexible energy rods (not carbon infused). No issues whatsoever.

Unless youre not wearing socks, not sure the way an upper feels off your foot and on your fingers matters. Kind of like shopping for a new rug and testing how it feels while wearing shoes. Come on dude. Lock down. Yes. End of the day what matters is if that shoe helped take your marathon or whatever race performance up a notch. I love my adios pro 2s im at 120 miles. But They are about cooked. No way they make even near 200miles. Ill definitely get the adiospro3s and be the one guy racing in them in colorado. Seek beauty

Just starting to use super shoes and took my Pro 2's out for 8 miles yesterday between 7:55-8:20 per mile and they really helped keep the perceived effort down resulting in 95% of the run being Z2 heart rate or lower (for me, everyone is different). If I could hold that sort of pace and effort level over 26.2 I'd be looking at a massive PB in Rome in March 🤞

I have the Adios Pro 2 and it's one of my favorite shoes! It helps with running economy on long runs, steady runs, and workouts. I've hit the track a lot of them when I first got them and they're really fast. Almost at 200 miles and the outsole is showing some light wear. Still has that pop and helps tremendously with cadence. However, when running at slower speeds or on tight turns it's very easy to roll your foot. I've done it a few times and thankfully it was a minor roll.

Great review Seth. I currently have both (actually have 2 pairs of the Pro 2s). One is about to be retired after 400+ miles on them. Fantastic shoe! By far my favorite for the end of 2021 till now. I only have 50 miles on the Pro 3 so far and it's coming around. Feeling more comfortable and adjusting to the under foot feel. Way different imo compared to the Pro 2. I think your scores are spot on for both and thanks for all your insight and making the reviews as entertaining and a pleasure to watch. Keep up the great work and stay safe and healthy. Despite the fact adidas are thankfully finally doing my "TTS" (US 14/UK 13.5) in the 3, the 2 I found ran slightly long and was able to use it in a US 13/UK 12.5. That aside, I think I prefer the 2 too. The 3 seems almost like they tried "too hard" to save a fraction of weight and perhaps shows saving a fraction isn't always wise. I seem to be forever adjusting the laces in the 3 and even after now over 50 miles in the 3, I still finish a run in them feeling they have worked looser over the run. I do think both are just slightly unstable and always find I want to ease off in both cornering. Agree the general lockdown isn't as good either in the 3 and I do feel the 2 is slightly softer although the Lightstrike Pro is certainly on the firmer side of the "super" foams. I also found I was "happier" doing longish "steasy" runs in the 2 whereas I feel the 3 wants me to go faster which is good of course in a race shoe for short distances but maybe more of a concern doing longer and slower in say a marathon. So I don't think I will be using the 3 to actually race in (never did in the 2 either) but at least both make for decent fast day options.

I really like the Adios Pro 3. I think it's going to be my shoe for the NYC Marathon. It feels so smooth at marathon pace. I think it's the easiest shoe to maintain pace. However, it's not as fast as the other shoes. I would not use the Adios 3 for a half or less. My feet would be happy with during backend miles of a marathon with them. I got the Adios Pro 3 for a good price. Adidas had a 30% off sale when I bought them.

Saucony Pro3 for me for the NYC Marathon in November..... this I feel will the one that is the most comfortable and hold pace in the back end better.....It feels less intrusive than the Nike AFN%2 and the foam seems bouncier and the speedroll super smooth (unlike the Saucony Pro2) whereas the Adidas Pro3 (and2) has good trampoline like effect, but find it is wearing on the legs longer into the run when the form is a bit more ragged........Upper wise the Saucony is super comfy and way less finicky.

That little tab at the heel of the Pro3 is meant to be folded down and only used as a pull-tab for getting into the shoe if I’m not mistaken, so I don’t think that should detract from the upper score. Also, the notch or any cut-outs on the midsole/outsoles are definitely not felt based on my experience in the Takumi Sen8 which have the same design. I wore that shoe out of the box at BolderBoulder which as you know has many hills and many turns and it was 100% stable and nimble. I think those cut-outs will remain. Lastly, that thinner outsole on the adidas racers are still Continental rubber and have proven to be very grippy (and durable) with its cat’s-tongue texture even if it seems counterintuitive. I’d never doubt Continental rubber! All this being said, I don’t use the Adios Pro racers but I’m familiar with these common elements in the Takumi Sen8.

This October I'll be running my 9th London marathon since 2006. (Aiming for my 2and fastest ever time of 3.45 from 2007 when I was 21) using the Seth rollercoaster weekly mileage technique for this training block, 🆙️📈⬇️ peaking at 65-70miles probably this week. Which is currently 5¾weeks out, and I have a rust buster ½marathon race 4weeks out which is the vitality bighalf in central London. For that poll as much as I'd love to get that 10th London in my feet, I'd have to pick the famous 5bridges of New York I think!! Keep up the great work Seth, and like your marathon lifetime best I hope it's a speedy recovery #DGRstrong💪🌎 Plus I'll be wearing the Alphafly 1 for London the second of the 2pairs I have

I have both and they are both great shoes. Pro 2 are definately slightly faster for me, with higher heal/toe drop and reduced width suiting me better in Pro 2. Pro 3 is super comfy just not as quick...

Issue with pro2 for me is the midsole sculpting makes me land more laterally. Haven’t tried pro3 but wider platform appears to be better for those of us who don’t strike in neutral and normal pronated landing. Also I don’t like the rods cuz they break…my 2s have at least one broken in the each forefoot . Doesn’t really effect performance but you get very loud clicking with toe off. But that lightstrike pro gets better and better as you put more miles on it!

I have two pairs of 2s, one I used at Boston , loved it but laces are a bit slippery and caution on tight corners. Still incredible shoe even compared to my alphas .

The 2 did not work for me (lateral collapse) thats why im skipping the 3 . The Takumi 8 had a much better feel . I also dont get that aggressive lateral heel bevel (why dont they just leave the mid heel material do its work and let it collapse depending on the runner instead of trying to force a certain running style).

Got to hand it to the pro 3. It’s a lot more stable than its predecessor and once you have it locked in it MOVES. It seriously feels like you could run it forever and never grow tired. It’s not for slower paces or easy days but if you want a marathon distance racing shoe this is it. I might actually go with something more forgiving like the speed 3 just because I don’t think I am a fast enough or strong enough runner to handle them the way they should be handled. But taking these to 12 miles was an absolute effortless delight. Seth’s nitpicking is really irrelevant with regard to what this shoe is designed to do - take you 26.2 miles in the fastest time possible.

QD: I live in the greatest city in the world, so for that alone I wouldn't live anywhere else. Of course convenience, the fact that I have never wanted to drive and I am also 2 minutes from the canal trail, 15 minutes from the coast with a good 10k worth of sand dunes and just under 5k away from some forest trails, why would i even need the countryside.

This has nothing to do with Todays vlog, but i had mentioned, while you were injured i would be dedicating my training sessions, and Races to you...Well, my first race since then was yesterday in Brandon, MS...it was a 5k Trail race...after several recent rains, the dirt course was little muddy, slippery and had alot of hills. Weather was about 85 degrees, with 90% humidity and didnt start until 0900...everything was going well, until at about mile 2.8, i took a wrong turn which made this a 3.63 mi race for only me. lol. looking at my splits, i should have done you proud with a time of 26 minutes, but ended up being 31 minutes...However, we all got a good laugh, and had a great time. This was a fundraiser for a good friends mom who has breast cancer. Was a great turnout and benefit for her....Seeking the beauty!!

I say Adios Pro 2. The Adios Pro 2 is a refined and sculpted version of the 1. The first version looks like Adidas tried to push it out as fast as possible to compete with Nike because NOBODY had a carbon racing shoe at that time until Adidas stepped up to the plate. Just take a look at the blocky midsole and very plain looking upper with the printed stripes. They tried to do the same with the 3 and cut off more pieces from the 2 to cut weight and add more midsole foam. I think that probably affects the turnover with that reduced drop. The first time I saw the Adios Pro 2 in person, I thought they looked super nice and when I tried them on, they gave me the same feeling (if not better) that the Next% 2. I bought them for my girlfriend (She owns the Alphafly's and she says she loves the Adidas much more. I already own the Next% 2 that I only use for racing, so no use for the Adio Pro 2 although I really liked them. I did get the Takumi Sen 8's though.

Which do you prefer Sen 2 or pro 2 and why? I'm just getting into running and I run 10km every day at a very slow 7.33m/km average. I need a comfortable durable shoes that will work for my training sessions as well as perhaps even for half marathon ( i dont want to keep buying lots of shoes)

@@Immortal__ I would say the Pro 2's are better all around because of a higher stack height so it'd be good for daily 10k's. The Sen 8's are like speed shoes for workouts or tempo runs. I've only worn mine like 3-4 times and I've had them for over 8 months. It's cause I normally only use them for when I want to run fast.

Yep. Happened to my pairs…push on the bottom outsole and the rods click/pop so loudly. But still runnable just annoying

@@Sakuraba85 wish I could but I bought them from someone who only did 4miles on a treadmill but didn’t like who the midsole worked with their mechanics. At the time I paid 90$ then 1month later I noticed the clicking but I will run in them from time to time
