I got to meet him when I was about 7. He was doing a cooking demonstration at a grocery store near my hometown. My mom got his cookbook, and he autographed it for her. She still has it. He kissed my hand, and my face turned bright red. It was so funny. This guy came up and was helping him fix stir fry, but the guy was constantly looking at the pan, and Martin was saying, "No, this is stir fry, NOT Stare Fry." I will never forget that.
I'm gonna cry, this brings me back to when I was a little girl and watched it with my grandma. She has so little faith in tv chefs but she trusted Martin Yan. xD Now that I'm in England and learning to cook my own food, I'm hoping watching these will teach me how to cook decent chinese dishes.
Me and my mother watched his cooking show Yan Can Cook on our local public television station years ago every weekend. We all loved how he would repeat himself with certain words "cut this up, cut this up, cut this up, cut this up"
He is a chef, not an actor. You guys should stop complaining about how he talked. I lived in Asia during my childhood, and everyone watched his show. He was really a legendary, and a pride of Asian people. So please be respectful. We appreciate that.
My favorite Chef of all time... Martin Yan... Iv'e been watching him for many years. Also, has the best personality of them all. Long Live Martin Yan, Go Martin.
used to be on the discovery channel way back then when I was a kid... early morning show... memories mehn ! aaahhh ! miss them days ! 'If yan can cook, so can you... join in ! ' lol !
What a nostalgia! I loved how passionate he is and still do. Always shows us that cooking is all easy and fun, unlike some current TV cooking shows which is discouraging and gives unnecessary pressure 😬
This guy was INCREDIBLY popular back in Dubai when I was growing up. His sheer energy was unbelievable. No chef on the planet can handle a knife like he can.
I remember watching this like 5+ years ago... Good times, i think hes the one that got me into cooking, i watched him as a kid and started cooking food for myself. Almost done with school now and i have always cooked for myself.
He's never met me and i've never met him, but i've always considered him as the cooking instructor that thought me everything i know when it comes to cooking.
