My mum had that exact Kenwood. Bought it in 1975 and it lasted over 25 years of regular use

I have my mum's from that year. It still works. I use it for dough kneading.

"A prod, halfway through, always helps" I'm inclined to agree with you, Mary...

She showed us a very good small chopper.

I make it but just mixed with a fork. It’s much more textured but I like it that way

I enjoy these segments except the counter is always SO CLUTTERED with pots and dishes.😄

WOW!! First, I LOOVE Mary...I live out In Harlem NY America. My Grandmother followed her back ion the day and had her books and recipes. Now, Looking at thes "retro" 70's show ... you see that they had it all!! All the gadgets we have ... they did too. I ant believe I saw Mary make Fish patties in a BLENDER in te70s! I thought this was a practice (like using food Processer) as of recent years. I think Cuisinart stole an idea too. Looked like they put a blender on top of a mixer. WOW!

My mum is the same age and generation as Mary Berry, and she cooked and baked every bit as good; I consider myself sooooooo lucky to have grown up in the 1970s and 80s eating all of this traditional cooking. We still have the same white Kenwood Chef Mk2 food mixer as shown in this video, which is going strong after 44 years!

If you don't mind me asking, would either of you consider using a blender/food processor to make a superior mackerel pate as opposed to simply shredding it with a fork? My pate always ends up with a consistency similar to canned tuna flakes when I use a fork. Does putting it in a blender work well for those who perhaps favour a thinner spread?

Thats a Kenwood mixer with additional fittings, like a kitchen aid

@@jadeflynn9623 Personal choice somewhat like smooth or crunchy peanut butter.....all do with what texture you prefer.

Not "fish patties". It's mackerel paté.

I dont know where she's going with all that melted butter! 😮 I use full-fat cream cheese and smoked mackerel...plus lemon juice and pepper. I also blend it in a food processor, not a liquidiser 😅 #chaos

I am going to make a cup of tea in a minute (not that I need to announce that to the entire world!!), and I have loved this series, it is absolutely wonderful and a joy to watch!! So many unpleasant people on YT, it is nice to find something nice to enjoy, even though plenty of moaners criticising everything they can think of, even in this series, no pleasing them, is there.

make mackerel pate by hand. better texture. no need to pulverise it to atomised mush.

Must be a really underpowered blender if it can't cope with the whole lot in one go.

Totally unnecessary prop and input really but until Mary got more comfortable in front of the cameras, she needed a wing woman of sorts to keep her on track time wise and explanations.
