In this webinar we’ll discuss how to go about it and demonstrate the technique on our Nissan 350Z running the Haltech Elite 2500 ECU. We’ll also discuss techniques for making your own TDC marker if your engine doesn’t have one.
Even though we're using a Haltech Elite to demonstrate practically in this lesson, as always Andre is comprehensive in the knowledge he shares so that it isn't just specific to this ECU alone, it is merely a tool to help demonstrate and explain the principles. With that in mind, even if you are using a different platform, you will get value from this lesson.

Top notch sir, Much Obliged for your time & effort, spreading a wealth of knowledge. The discipline here, no timing no tunning. Physically locate TDC Cyl 01 compression. Punch your marks, its a breeze from their.

Hi.. could you do a video on mapping for better fuel economy.. yah boring i know but fuel prizes here are exploding..

I saw another RU-vidr cause major damage because they set their base timing off the wrong mark on the 2jz crank pulley. They were essentially running 70 degrees of advance. They posted a video on them knocking the engine to death and didn't know why. I commented I know what happened there and it was an honest costly mistake. After a few days he finally commented back and said damn bro, I used the wrong timing mark... The 2jzge has a tdc and a sub tdc which is 60 degrees btdc for setting the mechanical timing for doing a timing belt. It was also a lesson in not overlooking findingtrue tdc and making your own reference mark... I felt pretty bad for him because the results weren't cheap... He was also experiencing kick back upon cranking and never put 2 and 2 together...

I have a 95 mustang and it has the TFI ignition set up. To adjust the timing for it you must remove the SPOUT connector. This will disable the factory ECU ignition advance while adjusting the distributor. If you leave the SPOUT connector in while adjusting the distributor, the ECU will try to correct the timing. One time i had the timing set on the wrong timing marks on a Ford Racing balancer. The engine had a very hard start, but once it did, it would idle rough and smell like fuel.

Using this video, and my Haltech software and timing light, I was able to fix my timing to 0 degree’s and find out I was 1 degree off of TDC Angle in my software. 1 degree is my much, but if you are this deep into something (forged everything, custom throttle bodies, dual stage fueling etc…) might as well go for perfection right?!

I just found out 2 days ago that i have been tuning my car for the last 6 months with fixed timing set at 10° 😕 now I'm correcting that and setting ignition spark latency. Mannn....😐

hi, thanks for your video! Should I adjust the first trigger tooth value or the trigger angle value if there is an offset between real tdc mark on belt pulley and TDC trigger signal from sensor? I am a bit confused. (I am using the Emu Black) Thank you in advance!

is this the same for s13 SR running elite 1500 with NSP software. Do we still move the CAS or is it all done like you did with he haltech software?

Andre has done a member's webinar on it over in the archive at www.hpacademy.com I think the faster connection time is the biggest obvious win and he sees it being something that people will want to move to from ESP - Taz.

A perfect and easy way to explain parallax error is by watching your fuel gauge. If you look at it on a skewed view it would look like you have more gas but in reality you're close to empty hahahahaha Meme for Reference: preview.redd.it/5m81ubowp2z31.jpg?auto=webp&s=efa997e04aa701be3a87710e52a346558ccbea4b

I've been trying to figure out what is going on with my r32 gtr. I switched from link to haltech and whenever I set up base timing (locked mode) its perfect at 20 BTDC and then the second I turn off lock mode it will retard itself immensely. I have tried it multiple ways and confirmed physical timing and marks. It currently idles at 2650-2700 rpm with no leaks. If I change my angle settings it'll drop to 1200-1300 but it doesn't sound healthy. Really stumped with this one. The only thing left to do is work around the base fuel map and see if my VEs are off during idle but they seem to be consistent with most gtrs.

I'm interested in remapping one of the stock ECU's map to reduce ignition advance on high load, high RPM for LPG installation. Here in Europe it is commonplace that people just straight use the ignition advance of gasoline while on LPG and they just compensate for it by adding a percentage of gasoline (i.e., dual injection) in order to compensate for the faster burning LPG at higher RPM. While on lower RPM they do nothing, where the LPG burns slower, meaning more degrees of ignition advance are required. Can you suggest me what to do in my application?
@hpa101
@hpa101 Год назад
I'm not 100% sure what the question is here sorry beyond my answer being to tune it for LPG? It all depends on if you have access to commercial tuning software for your vehicle too, that shortcut might be taken because financially it is feasible. That said, LPG fuel tuning is not something we cover at all at this stage either, we won't be able to teach you how to tune using that fuel specifically - Taz.

I’m still using the base timing of a basemap because I’m still running stock internals and crank sensor. However, it only idles nicely at 12.8AFR. Anything over 13.0 AFR, it starts misfiring (sporadic pops). Is that bad? I’m using 1000cc with an effective flow rate of 900cc. I cruise at 14.4 - 14.2 just fine. I also have an ignition advance gauge that shows about 18 degrees at idle.
@IanB22
@IanB22 2 года назад
Are you positive your crank timing (this video) and your cam timing is correct? It sounds like it may not be, or you are putting in way to much advance?
@BourneThisWay

@@IanB22 I’m still using the base maps timing. I have not touched it.

@@BourneThisWay is your top dead center timing correct? So crank is setup with TDC and your cam is also on its timing marks?
