When my OCD gets bad, there's a song I like to listen to. It's called "Find Your One Way", and it comes from a game called Guilty Gear Strive. There's a lyric near the end of the song that really resonates with me: "Listen to your heart, not the voice in your head."

Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for what you do. I used to watch your videos roughly a year ago or so and they helped me a lot and made me feel heard and that I'm safe and there is no need to be afraid of all the uncomfortable thoughts. I haven't watched your videos for a long time now because they were one reason that got me feeling a lot better and I don't feel like I need to watch them anymore. Just wanted to say that what you do, have real positive affect on people and thank you for that :)

@@kaleycarver8585a thought has no meaning unless you give it meaning. Everyone experiences intrusive weird thoughts but they just react like”hm that was weird” and move on. Unconsciously accepting it as a random misfire. W ocd you have to work to accept it and not give it energy and it eventually goes away. It gives you uncomfortable and anxiety bc you don’t like the thought or fear what might happen if that thought came true so odds are if you accept the thought it won’t bother you anymore bc it’s just a thought. Convoluted, I know. But it does work. I struggled w harm ocd for 2 years nearly everyday until I found out it was OCD. Imagine every day fearing you’ll snap and hurt someone and getting panic attacks and feeling like you’re going crazy bc you don’t wanna do the thing and keep trying to explain to yourself that thought isn’t real but questioning why you would even think that. And fighting w yourself to the point of crippling anxiety. I barely ever left my place. But, last week I didn’t struggle at all. And tonight I might have a flare up. Idk. But these tools work. I promise.
@quaoif

@@kaleycarver8585agreeing is allowing those thoughts to exist and believing the negatives they provide, such as “something bad will happen if i don’t do this”. but accepting is knowing those thoughts exist, knowing they’ll continue to exist and not letting them control you, accepting that they will continue to exist wether you give into compulsions or not. accepting that they’ll make you uncomfortable, but that’s all they can really do. the feeling of discomfort can’t last forever.

👏Brilliant, I love ❤️ all the beautiful transitions, the words at the bottom. Editing is at par with the content! I love how you've leveled up in the youtube game. I'm truly so proud of you Mr.Nate. I'm a subscriber since 2019 and you've really saved me so many times. I could never afford therapy in my country nor are there any well informed therapists here that i could go to but I'm so grateful for all your precious knowledge and dedication towards the subject. Your voice itself instills a feeling of calm in my body, all those years of crippling anxiety and panic attacks....I still get them but definitely it all gets better. Back then to now, through all these videos so many things would change but that tenderness remains the same. Thank you for being you, for being gentle with us because although I know that's the least that you could expect from a therapist, there are many out there who aren't that way. Wish you all the good. Absolutely loved the video. Happy 2024❤

Try taking vitamin b1, also do biofeedback and get your whole body in the sun, hypnotherapy can help too. My 14 yr old has it, but we embrace it and always try to keep chill about her rituals and tapping, counting etc, since taking b1 she has been able to ignore compulsions in the mornings, she takes 1000mg of b1 at night, vitamin d, iron and we are going to try biofeedback before TMS

Tell yourself it's only thoughts and that they have no power. Tell yourself that even if I pay attention to my breathing, I'm in control. Also, breathing is programmed in the brain, you will breath whether you will yourself to do so or not. It's just scary thoughts that have no power, only the power you give them.
