Yes, those spikes from the base of your Maxillaria are flowers.

Maxillaria tenuifolia spikes are always rounded and tend to come from the 'rhyzome/stem' part of the plant in between pseudobulbs. Those all look like new pseudobulbs because the end is sharp and long.

Love watching your videos, my thought pattern is those roots that have grown and formed outside your pots are acclimatised to the air atmosphere of the media. Just a thought as they will die off once potted in your growing method. I’m glad you have got to a point you’re busy at work again.

I bought the vanda and the cattleya, they are potted up and I work from home so they are in a loving home and I am available to care for them 24/7 😂❤️🙈

Some great plants you have, I would purchase if I could but it wouldn't get through the border. good to get ideas around growing mediums though, I think I might try water culture that domed container looked nice :)

I’m a big fan of splitting this pants if they have a climbing habit. If you bury the pseudobulbs, they can rot, but otherwise the new growths can’t get their roots into the media which means they won’t be as strong for the next growths. Maybe you could find some bigger/wider jars so they can stay in there longer?

Very satisfying to have great people take on your plants 👍🏼 i would say that your tenuifolia is growing new growths at the base 🌸

You could try sourcing wider but shallower containers for your oncidiums & other sprawling sympodials...? Trying to keep them in narrow containers seems high maintenance...

Nice update Michael! Sorry, the growths on the Maxillaria don't look like buds forming to me.

Very nice and exciting update, so much is happening in your collection, it's really rewarding to see your plants grow so well 😊 I recently got Eulophia petersii, hope it will start producing a new growth soon 🤞

My two cents on the Zygo, it is the outer leaf that has gotten "stuck" and you may be able to free the center leaves with minimal damage (they may be able to unfurl on their own once freed from the outer leaf). Try rolling it gently between your thumb and forefinger (with some gentle squeezing/pressure) first, this sometimes causes them to release without damaging anything. If that doesn't work, you will have to try prying it apart. I will hold it firm in one hand (again between the thumb and forefinger) below where it is stuck and try to get a fingernail under the seam. You may end up with mechanical damage on some leaves but the growth will be saved. The danger if you don't intervene, and it doesn't self resolve, is leaking happy sap inside the mass which causes it to rot.

Hi Michael, love listening to you and watching your orchids grow. I do, however, have one tiny little thing to say. You mention brands and you speak so quickly I don't what you're saying. They are probably American brands which are different in Europe but if you could just say the names slower that could possibly help..... cheers

Hi Michael, hadn't seen your channel in a while. Interesting how you are using sphagnum moss along with the leca.

The two catasetum I got from you are growing but slow, I put them in semi hydro, they’re in the greenhouse, night temperatures around 55. Not sure it’s ok or too cold?
