Tim, I was wondering if one can fix a sprung centering spring under the medallion type disc with the center screw on the top wringer part?. I tried fixing it with no luck. Thanks
I don't know where to get the parts for the wringer head, but you can try Cottage Craft Works. But if you can't find the parts you may need to get a new wringer complete that's all I can suggest. Let me know. Tim
The manual says the only way to get more pressure on the rolls is to use oversized bearing hangers and I tightened the tension springs all the way. Let me know if you need anything else. Tim😃
I used a spray paint for appliances the center plate needs the protection it can get because I have seen what the plate looks like when it's gone and they are hard to find. Tim😃
What grease the wringer or the power unit? The power unit requires a special tool to drain the old lube out which I don't have but I will keep looking. Tim
I hope that will fix it. I hope it's not leaking into the power unit. Because it will be a job to replace it. Good luck let me know. That's why it is a good idea to paint it it is only cast iron. Tim
The grease in my El2 is like Alaskan Molasses! What kind of grease did you use for the wringer cap? Did you need to replace the thin seal that goes in there too? Also, what kind of paint did you use on the center plate?
I used a white enamel spray paint. I covered the agitator shaft with aluminum foil. I used a high quality gear grease for the wringer head the grease in mine was like molasses to and the rubber ring seal was fine. Glad to hear you are tackling the machine. Let me know if I can help you further.😀😀 Tim.
@@timkessler4894 I got a new belt for it yesterday. Same size as the last one, yet it was too small. My tub to pump hose was dry rotted so I got some silicone tape from the auto parts store and wrapped it up tight. That should do it. I'd like an original drain hose and drain attachment (instead of the straight replacement hose I had to use) so I'll try Cottage Craft on Ebay. I'll also look for that centering spring in the wringer cap today. As you said before, maybe that's why the cap doesn't lock down. Thanks for the tips!
What was the condition of the gears in the wringer head? We're the gears in good condition and the camshoes if there are fine the roller should turn. If you need a new belt go to Tractor supply those are farm and ranch supplies great quality. It takes 1pound of grease for the wringer head.😀 Tim.
Cottage Craft Works has the centering springs they have a good selection of parts available maybe they will have the hose you need to. Does it have the sediment filter if it has a pump they have those too.😀 Tim.
@@timkessler4894 I took the top roller out just now to have a closer look at the mechanism. It seems to lock in place just fine without the roller. Once I put it back, same problem. The bottom roller is hard as a rock. The top roller is almost as hard. I wonder if this could be the problem?
Yes that is a good possibility. There is a centering spring for the release bar for some reason it is not releasing it is not retracting the tension levers like it should there maybe some other issue. Let me know if you are still having issues. Tim😐
Cottage Craft Works should have the hose you need or ebay if you notice that hose is different so you shouldn't have to much trouble they should have it. Let me know. Tim🙂
I guess I don't understand the question what spring The tension springs on a Maytag are under the wringer frame the wringer cap only slides on top of the cap for tension bolts.Tim
@@kimberleethuem1363 Please refer to my Maytag manual video it shows how to put on the centering spring it is tricky you have to make sure that the release bar in in the release position and then place the spring hope this helps you if you are still having trouble please let me know I can post that part of the manual on a video to show you can't wait to see your machine.Tim
@@timkessler4894 I don't know how to post a picture to you, I'm afraid. Since we broke this spring, we have to wait until the replacement arrives. We think we've figured it out but a video would be very helpful! Other than the wringer, the machine works great. I would like to get a manual like yours to do maintenance. Where did you get it? I do need to refurbish the bottom outside because it's rusty.
