That Porsche is going terribly slow, why doesn't it let you overtake? Sure, it's faster in the straights (like most powerful cars) but the MX-5 always catches up in the corners.
Because he is a "Tryhard", as we call them. He wanted to show that he is the best driver, and he has the better car. Of course he doesnt let the Miata pass.
Although the Porsche driver was not really driving his car to its potential, the Miata driver set a very good pace, regardless of that. Nice driving Miata Man.
The Porsche driver was not particularly motivated and/or skilled, but his car was also maxed out for traction. That 911 is a fat ba$tard in the twisties compared to a truly light and balanced car.
@@LateNightCable Having been in both, make no mistake, the GT3 is brutally faster in every scenario than the MX5. Myself and a friend took our cars out to oulton park in the UK and we'd been in and out of our two MX5's (NC and ND) and I'd set the quickest time for the MX5's at a 2:07 around oulton. In his out lap in the GT3 RS he did a 1:54, and that was without even pushing particularly. Whoever is driving this GT3 is an absolute joke and clearly afraid of corners.
Watching the Porsche brake for corners that the Miata is accelerating thru is really enjoyable...sometimes 'slow car fast' really is better than 'fast car slow'
"Watching the Porsche brake for corners that the Miata is accelerating thru is really enjoyable...sometimes 'slow car fast' really is better than 'fast car slow" - an inane, misapplied comment - that isn't the case with this 911! Its cornering ability is far above the MX-5, it's how its being driven in this video!
I would guess its the first lap for the Porsche driver, cause it looks like it by the way he is braking, like he is unsure where the track goes, I think the MX-5 nurburgring time is around 8m30sec, and the Porsche is 1 minute faster, or even faster.. not sure which model of 911 GT3 that is. (But the video is just for fun, not a race :) and I am sure the MX-5 puts a bigger smile on your face than the 911)
The Porsche has to brake, that’s what so many fail to realize. He’s heavy and grip limited. The Nurburgring will let even a 911 know what a hefty b!tch it is. But it will reward a well driven Miata.
I'm guessing that was the first time that the GT3RS driver was lapping the Nordschleife? Just giving him the benefit of the doubt. It reminds me of the video where the koenigsegg test driver in his NC MX-5 kept getting blocked by the 997.2 GT3RS haha
Nice work, kid! I have a 2020 model MX-5 and live in Colorado, USA. We do have nice sporting roads, but not being closed course and all the large wildlife, one must be mindful of one's speed. Might I ask a couple of questions? Are you reaching red line? And is your MX-5 factory stock? Wish I could see your tachometer. :) I have a few "spirited driving" videos, staying below 5,000 RPM, but the roads are still fun and good mountain views. Thanks for the ride!
Meanwhile the Miata costs 1/7th as much, and ges 40 MPG. The best car ever. I also kept up with a 911 in the Santa Monica mountains last month... Miatas rule.
Imagine driving a GT3RS on the Nordschleife thinking you're pushing it hard meanwhile you're being chased by a miata and you can't pull away from it 😂 Mad respect man. Must be nice to hear that 4.0 motor from beginning to end
He shouldnt have bought himself a weapon like this in the first place. The Porsche is fine, but the car is too much for him. He should have bought an Miata as well. ;)
@@Gentleman...Driver lol, good luck keeping up with a porsche boxster in a miata if it's your first time around the track... The mx5 driver had track time, who would have thought... That GT3 can go minutes faster than the miata. If the dude has the money, why not start there.
Nah - The Mazda is just a great car period - its never gonna be better than a Porcshe - but its never going to be shamed and in some instances clearly outperforms the Porsche - I think the Mazda driver could have driven over the top of him on a few occasions
You're eventually gonna lose control of your car holding your steering wheel like that. It will be ripped out of your hand, you should research proper steering wheel position. It helps a lot imo.
Porscheist needs lessons in manners and in driving, and especially in braking. I'd have had to smack him up the bum the first time he braked mid-corner.
Porsche boy should have lifted after a corner or two, and gotten on your tail. He'd have learned something that way, and you both would've had a better time.
Nice lap but come on, let's not pretend there is a competition between these cars. Any expensive car can go slow with a shitty driver, just let me drive it, lol.
This wasn't GT3 RS vs MX-5, what it was, was driver who bought over his head vs driver who knows the road and the car. It seems like the RS driver knew the track well enough, so was limited by skill. I only saw one place where the track caught him by surprise (after Kallenhard, just before 'miss-hit-miss'), other than that he seemed to be comfortable with where things were, he just wasn't all that fast. With equal drivers I think the GT3 RS would have pissed off into the distance never to be seen again.
Wrong. The GT3 is a fat ba$tard on a track like this, it literally couldn’t do better around those tight bends. The Nurburgring always cuts cars like that down to size and rewards truly light and balanced cars like the MX-5.
The Porsche is incompetently driven - it slows WAY too much entering corners. And in case there was any doubt, the Porsche poseur proclaims to the world what an asshole he is by refusing to let the MX-5 pass.
For about 5k one can add a supercharger to a Miata. The Miata has a Miller Engine. Such cars get around 220 HP. A base ND produces 180 HP. It's a 2200 lb car. The ND is a fantastic car to drive on a mountain road.
Nie im Leben, fährt ein Madzda einem Porsche den Schneid ab. Er hat ihn sicher erst warm gefahren, oder sein 16jähriger Sohn ist ihn mal gefahren. Aber sehr amüsant, dass du das glaubst.
@@converdis449 No, just no. The Porsche would be miles ahead, sorry. The car is so much quicker then a Miata. In EVERY aspect. Cornering, straight line speed, braking, etc. Of course it depends on the driver, obviously. And this one sucked ass. Dont fool yourself.
If the man with all the money had any honour he would concede to the better driver - but then he wouldn't be the man with too much money. Survival of the shittest.
Listen I love Miata’s and I own an ND but let’s not kid ourselves here. If the same Mx-5 driver in this video drove that 911 he would shave off at least 3 min on this track and left him Miata self in a dust. Now that I’ve ruined it for everyone I must say I did enjoy this lap.
And yet a MX5 Cup driver could probably beat this 911 driver with a ND2 181hp car. Sorry but it’s true. Basically saying it’s not about the car it’s mostly the driver. This video is the perfect example. Here’s a pro Miata driver owning the track ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tQ3x462rlmg.htmlsi=Gt0XG9cWpRXiyp9i
@@TheChenny73 I agree with you , but it’s the car, the car modifications and the driver. And experience on particular track. I’m talking about just stick road cars. That 911 is beating Miata on any track in their stock form with the same driver.
@@omCi it’s more about the driver. Did you watch the linked video? That’s not a turbo or super charged MX-5. Funny how a pro driver can literally keep a Miata at its Max and hang with Porsches all day and pass them 😂. Now grant it he’s a pro driver and maybe these 911 drivers are not. Well, that illustrates my point. It’s about the driver. You want to go fast and hang with 911’s? Yep you can totally do that in a MX-5(see video), no need to purchase a $150k car. You just need to learn how to keep your MX-5 between 80-150mph. Even if the drivers are equal the MX-5 loses by a matter of seconds, who cares? I mean the 911 gets beat by a similar driver in an even faster car…lol. It’s all about having fun.
Bro... The guy in the GT3 was either inexperienced or just taking a nice and easy drive on the Nordschleife. No one wants to wad up a $150k car there. The dude in Miata drove well but let’s not get delusional in thinking our favorite little car can keep up with a properly drive GT3. On the other hand, a properly set up time attack Miata would have kept with him.
