Step one of going big turbo in the Girlfriend's MazdaSpeed 3 is complete. Happy to have this complete, what a pain in the ass. I think two people would've made this more enjoyable... 😂

That "shaft play" isn't necessarily really shaft play. There's no oil pressure in the turbo for the journal bearings so it's going to move some. Your turbo is probably ok.

currently in the middle of this project and i can not get this downpipe to budge at all. i have all bolts out but one because i cant reach it and need to go buy a tool, but even with one bolt left, the downpipe doesn’t budge at all am i missing something?

i just install a CST4 turbo on my 1gen it is a pain to deal whit old crusty bolt.

Really wish you filmed the getting that Downpipe out. All these videos just Hollywood the extraction “Now we gotta remove them Downpipe” cut to scene where it’s magically already out.

Sorry, I think there's a reason why many don't film it lol! It was sure a pain in the ass to take out, lots of wiggling and pulling

Did the ebay catless dp actually fit up to the stock catback I bought one and havent attempted it yet so wanted to know what I might have to be ready for before installing. My only thought is that the downpipe isn't long enough to match up to the catback

Brought it to an exhaust shop, they extended the stock catback to fit with the downpipe. Fitment can vary per downpipe

I bought an downpipe to exhaust adapter, zip tied the downpipe to the catback & drove it to the exhaust shop 😂

@@ColtonRichterlike something from orilleys? Lol I was thinking of a small pipe fitting that was reduced like a 3in one side to a 2in and just shove it between the two to make it there 😂🤦‍♂️
