Such great recipes! I would recommend putting the wet ingredients in the bottom of the jar and work your way with the driest ingredients on top. This will prevent your salad from getting all soggy and gross especially if you don't eat it right away!!
SOOO many comments saying the same things, so.... 1. For everyone saying you can't eat out the jar/the salads not mixed... You obviously take the Salad out the jar to eat it, the jar is just for storage/ to look appealing to eat. 2. For everyone saying they will go off... She's not saying she makes them all in the same day, meal prep can be for one or two days ahead. She's just showing 7 options. Hope that helped.
Thanks these are great I have always loved salads, probably because all members of my family always made a salad to every meal we ate, whilst I was growing up. My favourite dressing is a homemade mix of avocado oil lemon, lime, black pepper and ground jalapeño green pepper or chilli pepper tastes amazing!!
You are probably one of the only you tubers that I will watch the ENTIRE video. I love your intros they are so funny and your so cute! I just can't get enough of you!!💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
I love the fact that you promote really big portions! When I saw the jars I was afraid that they would be too small 😌 and I also love the fact that you promoted veganism in a way...bravo Evelina !
I'm not an American so I have 2 questions. 1. Why do Americans use only the Mason Jars? Why don't they use regular jars that they bought whit jam inside or something? I think is a waste of money to buy a jar when you buy a lot of them with your regular groceries. 2. How do you store this salads for 7 days (the last one for the week)? The vegetables will become wilted and blackened.
because it is easier to just buy the jars. they're really cheap. the only jars i get food in are jelly/jam and it takes me FOREVER to get through them so it's just easier to go buy the jars. and yes i agree with you that the salads 3-7 will be black and moldy so i don't understand why she does that.
+Wredniara I'm not from the US either but I believe mason jars have become a cool trend lately and that's why everyone uses them so much. The idea of a salad in a jar was nice but I wouldn't keep it for more than one day in there. I think she made so many for the purpose of this video.
always thought the same thing. I would not eat a salad which has been in a fridge for more than a day. And another thing - How am I supposed to eat a salad in a mason jar? Even after you shake it, it doesn't become a salad, but just layers of veggies...
+Innah Kostova I'd either leave some space if you want to eat it in the jar, otherwise put it on a plate or a bowl. I usually prepare my salads the day before, put them in the fridge and just grab them before I head to school. At school I put it in the fridge.
for the Asian salad try mixing "Just Mayo", Teriaki, sesame seeds and soy sauce together.... so bomb and vegan. Its kind of my obsession right now. :-P
+Melinda_B She said "Just Mayo," which is a brand of mayo that is plant based and tastes amazing. It's like a dollar something at Wal-Mart & it's amazing. They have ready made salad dressings too!
I loved the idea of the jars and simple recipes for the salads because I eat a lot of salads but with this video I like to try new combinations. Thank you dearest Evelina 😍
I think this is a great idea! When you fill it to the top & seal it tight, the air can't get in. And as long as it is in the fridge, I think it could last at least 3-4 days. Just don't let air in the jar!
I was talking to my friend today about going vegan and you pretty much live the lifestyle that I am aiming to once I leave home... eating plant based aside from fish at home and when I am out I will eat whatever's available to me.. I will definitely be making these for my school lunches as it will save me so much time in the mornings!! keep doing what you're doing !! you're killing it!! 💘💘
I doubt she usually makes 7 at a time, in real life the meal prep is probs only for a day or two ahead, she just made one for each week to show more recipes.
I made jar salad regularly, for five days , not this much variety, dressing in bottom hardy veg , whatever variety you want , protein then the greens on top. Stayed fresh for five days
for the people asking, I mine in a tupper ware container to eat. the reason I like the mason jars is that I can make for the whole week and use my vacuum seal with adaptor and it keeps it fresh all week.
Her best friend kalel ist a vegan and a youtuber. And if you really want to know about facts (environmental an nutritional) and get a little controversial I recommend "unnatural vegan". And for legitimate information on plant based nutrition I recommend nutritionfacts.org . It's a website run by Doctor Michael Greger. He's an MD and a specialist in nutrition. He also has a book called "how not to die" I think he also has a RU-vid channel. Hope I could help :)
Sally99 Well, I actually wanted to become vegan but I hate vegetables (the majority of it) so that way I know that vegan diet/life style isn't for me. I live in Slovenia on the coast and I am following a Mediterranian diet atm and I love it :) (lot's of fish, olive oil, carbo hydrates, fruits, some vegetables, potatoes, dairy) I'm a healthy young woman and I'm feeling great, so that means I follow the right diet for my body :)
aha! I was so confused how you were skinny as a meat eater and not starving yourself! now it makes sense. Really glad you're trying to be healthier as a vegan. every step towards veganism is a step towards compassion, so great job :)
Love this ideaaa!!! I always get so stuck on what to make my dressings for salads since i get very bored with normal ones but these salads looks too fun to care
So cool!! I love this salads 😍 But are they still fresh at the end of the week? I think once you cut the veggies, they start to loose their vitamins and stuff. I dont know... what do you think?
The wet stuff is supposed to go at the bottom of the jar, so dressings go in first and then anything else wet. Dry stuff on top. That should preserve the food for longer.
They do go bad. Many of these videos are made because they look good and fun, but aren't actually practical. Many you tubers jump on the idea cause it's wonderfully visual like art and we eat through our eyes. It's just like the clean fridge hack by lining your fridge with paper. Utterly gross and it does not stop your fridge from needing the same effort of clean if not more, encourages waste and does not actually look good. Don't believe what you see on tv....an old advice that adults seem to have forgotten. It's all click bait and why when I visit a RU-vidr who gives failed advice to get me to click, I then ban all their videos from my feed. Untrustworthy.
You do not put the lid on the jar. If the food is still steaming and you close it, it will become bad quickly. Let it cool down and then close the jar!
Hi Evelina, have you ever tried buck weed? I use it often instead of couscous, it is very delicious, has quite a nice amount of protein and it is gluten free. Thumbs up 😘🦄
I was thinking the same! haha I personally think it would be easier in a bowl already, that way you only have to clean 1 dish instead of 2. Plus, easier to take to work if it was already in the bowl.
I'm just making a point, I don't want to be mean!!! Here in Greece in the greek salad we put: tomatoes, cucumber, bell peppers (usually green), red onion, salt, oregano and olive oil and sometimes olives! never lettuce and dill
