I believe that this doctor working as a carer will make her a better doctor. I’ve been a nurse for 10 years, and I’ve realized that many doctors who have no other experience in healthcare tend to be demeaning and rude to nurses and patient care assistants . I now believe that through this experience, this will make her a better doctor, a more understanding doctor, and a more respectful doctor to all members of the healthcare team.
I have had a similar experience, so I know where our doctor is coming from👌I ended up not continuing with my registration. Became a healthcare worker and then a Healthcare Administrator in a specialist forensic psychiatric hospital. Psychiatry was my go to specialty while in medical school, and I get to be a part of my patient's recovery process as a Patient Liaison Officer. The salary is not much compared to a docti's salary, but I get time to be in the lives of my 4 kids, and that makes my proud and 100% fulfilled! As single mum of 4 with no support from their father or family, I chose not to practice and have time for my children with no regrets. This was 7 years ago. Now, my first is 21, in Public service (Conservative councillorship aspirant and student of the University of Cambridge), my second, 19, is an aircraft engineering student and in the Royal Navy. My last two daughters will continue in the medical profession in a few years by God's grace. No shame in stepping back to take a leap forward. Your story us an inspiration as many docuors who end up not getting registered with the GMC live in shame and hiding. No need for all that.
This happens a lot here in the UK. I remember a medical doctor from Nigeria who started working as a cleaner in the hospital in Scotland. He then progressed to work as a care assistant and now after many years,he is a senior consultant surgeon. Glad to connect with you here bell on for more.
@@NanelleGriseldaGood for her and the pathway she took. I knew a Nigerian trained MD her in Canada, who did his RN degree, after working for a few years, he received a residency position. He is now working a registered Physician in Ontario, Canada (getting in the Canadian system for physicians is very difficult).
@@oludotunsamuel5091education has no age limit. And in Western World if you have a determination, you can be anything at any time. It’s a matter of getting the opportunity to be in these, or those countries in a illegal way you can chase for anything. And you won’t ll achieve it. Age is nothing in Western World.
It is a stepping stone! Me worked for five years as a Pharmacist in Nigeria and have been working as a HCA with the NHS and I still trying find my path! There is dignity in Labour and we all have to start somewhere and our beginning matters!
Similiar situation here, Over 7 years as a Pharmacist back home, but Care assistant in the Uk. It is well. The heart is the matter. Love and care for people.
I can say nothing is impossible if you keep your focus. My sister in-law worked briefly as a career while preparing for her medical license exam. Now she runs 2 practices in Canada where she employs doctors after qualifying as a GP in the UK.
I work with a medical doctor from Nigeria turned support worker to begin with. I was a support worker. This Nigerian doctor was very humble, very nice guy. He worked hard for his medical doctor qualification update courses and exams for over a year. There were times he was very frustrated, but in the end he was successful, now a medical doctor. He had to start from less in the UK, going with patience and courage to go through ups and downs.
Alot of people had to start somewhere. If you dont pass a few exams to practice overseas, you cant just start working as a doctor. It's just a stepping stone. More wins for you. 🎉
Exactly ! When you are a medical professional and relocate to the UK or US, you would need to take some board exams to qualify to work in that same profession; meanwhile you would need to earn money to support yourself, so you do care work in the interim. Nothing wrong with that.
Even if she cleaned floors She’s still a doctor 😊 Some people are Doctors and come here and start in Restuarants It’s just a temporary transition that makes for a good life story 😊
@@Sterfillah No need to state the obvious but it still does not negate the fact that she is a doctor Any country you go to you will have to go through exams to convert and qualify That’s a standard procedure
It's a thumb up 👍for this video. Really inspiring and motivating. Lesson learnt: It doesn't matter where you start from or the route you take. The most important thing is to keep your eyes on the ball. Thank you both...🤝
So proud of you, been a carer or a doctor or nurse you’re still taking care of people, because in Canada carer, nurses and doctors work as team, but some Ghanaian nurses in UK look down on Carer, I’m really so proud 👍🏾
@nanelle this is why I love you ! Not hate keeping and pulling up other women along the way I’m so excited because I know you both and seeing you both share valuable information made me happy
There are lots of African medical doctors working as health care assistants while attempting to regularise their registration with General Medical Council (GMC)
Very dedicated individual. Good to know there is a medical school in Tamale and it has produced a very productive and dedicated Medical Doctor. Well done.
What a great interview! I clicked here based on the title "Medical doctor turned care assistant in the UK", which I expected was going to be a story of injustice of some kind. How wrong was I! Instead it's two sweet, accomplished Ghanaian ladies rapping of nothing but success! "Mo!", as they say in Ghana, or "Big up!" as we say in Jamaica (and now almost the rest of the world too; LOL). Great job, and please keep up the good work. Greetings from Connecticut, USA. --Æ.
I totally enjoyed this session, I enjoy all your videos anyway🙌❤. You're a great host/presenter and I sometimes wonder if you ever took a course in journalism😂. Congrats to this wonderful lady, I'm just coming across her and I must say that I'm proud of her🤝🤗. She'll definitely go to higher places because of her mindset and positivity 🙏
There's always a beginning 😊and I believe she will scale through and finally get to her dream job. It is not easy getting license to practice as a Doctor whenever you move abroad but she is brave and I love it. Nanelle I trust you 😊to always deliver the best and yes there is nothing wrong in working as a carer it's still much better than suffering in ×××× . People need to understand this if you get the opportunity start as a carer and as time goes by move up . May God help us in our pursuit for a better life...

3 words for you Doc, Resilient, humble and sensible. Most people who are not even Doctors come to the UK and even talk down on carers, yet, they never even made a quarter of what carers make in the UK. The Lord would take you far Doc.❤❤❤.
Hello, I am an international medical graduate from Kenya and I was wondering if you would be willing to chat with me about your situation. I am hoping to join the NHS later as a junior doctor but I have some time before I can apply. I need to wait and also do exams in between. Would appreciate if I can reach out to you
It’s tough relocating to a foreign country. You have to change your mindset and do whatever is ethically possible to help you survive. I’m in the U. S. And many people come here with doctorates from other countries but they have to be willing to start from the bottom while structuring themselves. I’ve been sharing this on my channel as well.
Good of her . Im working in healthcare for 8 years . As a doctor she saying that care assistant will give her more knowledge experience and understanding how to working in the UK around Clients. Good for her . Wear about in the UK ARE YOU WORKING 👏🌷💞
Nenelle ❤thanks so much for this interview. I just entered the uk on carer visa as a hca, was a registered nurse midwife, and degree holder. I am encouraged thanks so much
I saw the stories of The Physician assistants in Ghana some of them been waiting for jobs for 5 years. But I heard a story that Canada will take physician assistants from Ghana
Good day@Nanelle thank you so much for the content you put here on this space. I am a subscriber watching from Nigeria. I am about moving to the Uk for my Masters this September 2023, but for some reasons am so uncertain and skeptical. Life is so terrible here in Nigeria for me and my Husband but the state of the country is affecting everyone. However what’s causing my uncertainty is this 12 point conservative law. They say they haven’t been put in place. But I want you to shed more light on this
Point based system means if you have certain qualifications you get certain points and if your total points exceed the threshold they set then you qualify. E.g. if someone is not a graduate then they won't get the point for educational qualification.
My sis dis the same before her plab and then went on to practise as a Dr in the UK. It's not really about how you start but how you end. Remember, all well ends well!
This is when I don’t want to listen when comparing about money. We spent GBP in the Uk and now Ghana money. Again most Diasporas run two homes, one in Africa and in the U.K.
It's not new. I am in UK and It's mostly a starting point for most Doctors that's if you didn't finish your PLAB 1 and PLAB 2. I know over 10 Doctors doing same. Some have switched already. Please start any job you see in UK 🇬🇧 to pay bills 😅
Am happy for my sister for being truthful to herself. Most people think with your certificate as MD, you can work as MD in Europe and Uk. It doesn't work that way. You have to do some extra courses
I am currently in 🇬🇧 and I’ve been following your channel for years. I never knew you went to Roses ✌️🥳 I am a Sapphire ❤. Well done for making Rosa proud 🎉🎉🥳🥳 I am a proud Rosecan🥳🥳🥳
Amen doc. Don't sit around when you can make money. A wise business woman once said to me, Naa 'if Sea dry you go by land'. You are my kind of woman. Actually you have a subs riber.
I’ve been sometimes sad for not working as a nurse as what I desired and all my colleagues back home as been working as a nurse … the problem in doing English test is massive 🤧
Why will you live in my city and just few minutes walk from my house and we’ve not met!!!! Since I started this video I was like this lady looks soooo familiar! I know a lady that looks so much like her, with a little baby whose husband too is a Doctor!!!’ Only for she to mention our city! 🎉🎉🎉🎉💃💃💃💃. My dear I’m rushing to your page! 😂😂😂😂😂 we don meet for RU-vid o! 🙌🤩
