These look like the UniFi Switches and/or UDM Pros. I wonder why they went this route and didn’t choose a better cooling system.

Because LEDs are way "cooler".

I have one of the 24 port switches now. The front of the switch looks extremely similar, but the back has two "normal" server style cooling fans. It stays much cooler than my UniFi gear.

Bummer that these switches only have two SFP+ cages and not 4. Being able to set one up as a core switch would’ve been nice.

@kurumi0o Thanks for the feedback! We were trying to balance features, performance and cost for these very first round of switches. Bigger switches and more SFP+ cages are in the works!

@@Lee-wh3ht We had them stacked on top of one another for most of the design build. SFP cages are one of the largest heat generators in a switch and by putting them side by side with extra ventilation allows us to reduce fan speeds, and assure a much longer life span of the cage, SFP/SFP+ modules an the rest of the components on the PCB board.

@@chaseharrison5869 good insight 20gb uplink is good enough, I’m just concerned about lacp becouse for instance you would have port 1,2,3,4 and for the sfp to fit you need to use 2,4 which won’t work becouse it’s not 2,3 or 3,4

@@DJ-Coma what a disappointment! Why in 2023 mGig ports are still not main stream? I am not migrating to any new tech like this until mGig becomes more widely adopted

@@kirksteinklauber260 So far the little I've seen in enterprise mGig is still dead, half the time it's not more expensive or as expensive to go for 10gig, especially if using used gear
