Modern tanks with a ton of era and nera armor can absorb tank shells but none of them are "bouncing" shots off like heavy tanks in ww2.

joetca era is mainly for absorbing HE shells though, AP could rip through it easily

For tank to tank yes , armor is pretty much done unless they somehow find a new type of armor and no knowledge for the public , but for infantry support still being usefull but not in urban area with many building which can help enemy infantry to sneak in close enough to shoot the tank

@@uthopia27 I think you need to do a little more reading on this subject. The last time the British Army deployed their tanks, (challenger 2) was in Iraq. Where they proved invaluable in, combined arms, clearing of cities like Basra. I appreciate that although this is the closest to a symmetrical war we've had in years the British Armed Forces were far in advance of the Iraqis. However the British Army were still mostly in soft skin vehicles, with thousands of Snatch Landrovers in use. If you read reports from the infantry and tank units in places like Basra they all talk about how the British armour was invaluable. They provided mobile cover, the ability to create new routes/holes through the city with both their size and their guns (a common practice at the time was to fire the concrete training rounds to punch holes in buildings without collapsing them) and a confidence/morale edge to the British soldiers. There aren't many places in a city you can entrench yourself in where a serving of training round, hesh or being run over won't dislodge you. Plus with the infantry all around the tanks have much better situational awareness and much less risk of being destroyed. Of course this was all before reactive armour and the inception of trophy systems so this might all have changed now.

I mean...consider actually looking into it some times. In recent wars, there have been instances where modern tanks got stuck in a ditch in the midst of heavy fighting and were able to just wait, completely invulnerable to anything anyone could possibly do to it, for hours until the fighting was over. This kind of comment strongly suggests you've never so much as googled the issue and have come up with this opinion from...well, literally nothing.

@@manhphuc4335 actually in lore Warhammer 40k tanks are massive mobile bunkers with battleship guns and loads of lasguns. But yeah design wise they don't really function like tanks and more mobile artillery.

Barry Bend uhm no they sucks in lore too, the chimera have only the equivalent of 100 mm of modern rolled steel armor while the the leman russ have 200, that is dogshite. Not only so a lot of eldar tanks have their vents on their side wings, which is madness. Oh well at least those have shield at least. Yeah gamesworkshop really need to update on the tank armor part, despite the fact that they have updated tons of things on the past, the tank armor seems to be their rabbit hole.
