It is fascinating to see the transformation that Damon makes when he goes from straight to gay. And him screaming, "I'm free! I'm free!" Too damn funny. LOL!!!!
I can't even imagine what the outtakes must have been like. They couldn't even keep straight faces for TV. Gaytorade... "Now packed to the rim with natural protein... MMmm." LOL.
Damn the 90"s were great!! This show needs a reboot with all original comedians, even if digital remastered and just replayed there a whole generation that needs this. FUCK CANCEL CULTURE Cry BaBies
They had a skit that you would never get to fly today. A mariachi band was making fun of everyone. They went to one guy who tipped them a dollar and called them "cheap bastards", then went to a guy who was wearing a toupee and made him say in Spanish "I'm not only the President of the hair club for men, I'm also a client". Then they went to some big football player types and said in Spanish "Our mothers had a one-night stand with a grizzly bear" to which the three guys stood up (two were black and one was white) and said "We speak perfect Spanish and know everything you just said", and the skit closed with the Mariachi band trying to run away saying stuff like "I'm outta here!" Comedy died sometime around 2010, we just didn't realize it.
SUCH a shame this was one of the last Men On skits, 'cause David Alan Grier had honed that character to near-perfection by this time. He gradually added nuances and layers and he just owned it. He was so good he made Damon break character and crack up.
plutorama in an interview he talked about getting to know a lot of gays when he did Dream Girls on broadway and learning the lingo way early on like "Read"
plutorama Damn that really sucks! Some of the later seasons of ILC that I saw were nothing compared to the older stuff. It's like they started going downhill into SNL territory - it was weird! Something must have happened behind the scenes.
It just amazes me how Damon Wayans went from 'straight' to 'gay' in a few seconds. It's like his entire facial expressions changed where he even looked different. Now that's acting. This episode Damon couldn't stop laughing. I commented on part 1 that David Alan Grier couldn't stop laughing. The chemistry between these two is so cool. I also thought it was cute when Damon poked his brother's belly button. You can tell that they're a close family.
during a time when everything was better. music was better, shows were better, life was better. majority of people had a sense of humor there's was no need for political correctness cause the majority of people didn't take things so damn seriously. great show
What made this bit legendary, was the simple fact that Blaine went from gay to straight, back to being gay, in the funniest way possible. My favorite bit of the entire show.
Man, I loved these skits! Blaine's fascinators were to die for. And who could forget the Snaps Up? And Antoine always finding "the real story" in these films.
It irks me that people automatically assume we gays don't have a sense of humour and don't find them to be funny. I find them to be hysterical, and it's not meant to be taken seriously.
Unfortunately we live in an overly sensitive, pussiefied society now. I am all about being respectful and not hating or being a bully, but there's also such thing as humor and satire. Skits like this, while full of stereotypes, aren't meant to be hateful and shouldn't be taken as such. People need to learn the meaning of the term "context."
I agree dear. I don't understand why our country is becoming so "eh!". If something is on that you find offensive, change the damn channel! Why should we all suffer with the dry drab options because everything else is bland! Freedom of speech is our right but when people actually express themselves and someone is offended it's banned! Truly unfair and shows like this should be back on the air
That's the problem with this country - people (usually white liberals) are choosing to be offended for the minorities, when the minorities are not even close to being offended.
Love this!- David!- Legend!- Way ahead of their time!- Today everybody is sooo senstive. We've forgotten how to have a honest laugh!(not at anybody's expense) But a true "Heart Healthy" laugh!!!
I don't know. Brokeback Mountain would have been too easy and too obvious so I don't know if it would have been funny. What made these skits brilliant to me is that they took movies that weren't obviously meant to be gay and they put their own spin on it. It was hilarious when one of them said that Deliverance was their favorite love story with men roughing it in the woods.
I am gay, and I remember when this first aired. Me and all my gay friends rolled with laughter when these characters were on. Unfortunately political correctness took over the U. S. of A, and now we have all the so called "progressives" who would be butt hurt if this was new and aired today! PUN INTENDED!!
When In Living Color was on I remember being in College. I had a part time job, full time school and my life was very busy. However, I would always think about Sunday night and had all my work done so I could sit back and laugh my ass off. And this show always produced.
I loved this show back in the day and their skits were my favorites. The fascinators, the snaps, double entendres and innuendo! I was done with them back and then and in 2019.😂😂 Best comedy skit show in all of television history!!!
I can remember when they were doing the reruns on BET a few years back and I came home from an extremely bad night at work and this skit just so happened to be on and when Damon Wayans gave that lil gay cry after David Allen Greer hit him in the face i cracked up for about 5 minutes! That definitely made me feel better from a hard days work.
David fainting and the way he fell with his ass up was too damn funny! In living color needs to be brought back! This show was so funny and groundbreaking nothing has yet matched its genius.
How Damon and David managed to stay largely in character during these skits is truly a fait accompli. It seemed that they couldn’t look at each other much for fear of laughing…
I LOVE the end scene when they all "come out" to celebrate Blaine's return... They're having a gay 'ol time... LMAO "I'm free, I'm freeeeeee!! hahahahahaha
This is got to be one of the greatest shows of all time and I can’t believe it was only on for 3 to 4 years it’s a shame that show should’ve been just like SNL it was better than SNL a lot better in my opinion!!!..
now we all know that Twan was like "i'm gonna show you all that I am a one woman show". David really amped up the performance, as if to say, "I can act way more queen-esque than Damon... just watch this!" I love it!
In my 40s; my old man was the most racist person ever and we were never allowed to watch "black" shows, but EVERY Sunday night these two guys had us all gathered around the TV to watch. That rule went out the window.
it was ahead of it's time for back then - and wouldn't fly today because sjws would have autistic meltdowns and protest it. LOL we're going backwards - it's the great pussification that George Carlin predicted LOL
This is one of the best comedy shows of all time... Almost all made it after the show went off the air.. Look at all the talent on the show. Back then fox had all the best shows and its competitors were totally wrong.
