Funniest part about the Men On Films skits is that you can tell that both Damon Wayans and David Alan Grier are trying so hard not to laugh and keep a straight face. Lmao
You would very rarely hear the crowd on SNL go apeshit laughter like they do here. It almost seems like they're a fake crowd, they go so wild! Because we're so used to hearing crowds cheering when they're told to cheer, and laughing half-heartedly at what we know is lame.
@@lizjo7213 which has jack shit to do with anything, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
...and to think David Allen Grier almost turned this show down because he didn't think of himself as a comedian when compared to the rest of the cast. He is hilarious.
They had 3 members of the ILC cast on SNL shortly after In Living Color was cancelled after its fifth season on Fox. (BTW, I felt ILC declined in quality after Season 3 which was around the time Keenen Ivory Wayans lost creative control of his show to Fox Network executives. That's why Seasons 4 and especially 5 are bad by comparison to Seasons 2 and 3.) Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans, and David Alan Grier all hosted SNL within a year during the beginning of SNL's doldrums (when the writing got bad and the show became "meh"). Their episodes were above the average for that timeframe. Honestly, from what I can remember, Grier had the most memorable SNL episode. That's just how it turned out. Rewatching ILC in reruns, Damon Wayans was probably the most consistently "On"/funny member of the cast. Jim Carrey hasn't aged well for me. David Alan Grier? Underrated and one of the most consistent, funniest guys in the cast after Damon Wayans. "Living Looney Tune" is how I would characterize his best moments. It's a gift to be surreal AND believable in a sketch! People should go back and watch "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka." That feature film is glimpse into the near future. A lot of the core ILC cast is in that movie along with David Alan Grier, the humor is similar to what was in the first 3 seasons of ILC. He has one of the funniest scenes in that movie!
I got invited to a masquerade party by a friend and could find a mask. Saw a hat like his and this shit popped in my head.... i thought i was going to be the only one there that didn't have a mask, therefore the odd person everyone stares at and judges for not understanding/ following the rules. I was wrong, everyone loved the tiny hat
You know what great about the early 90s? You had Saturday Night Live on Saturday night at 11:30 pm at 1:00 am It's Show Time at The Apollo and Sundays at 8:00 pm you had In Living Color. Best time to be alive in the early 90s.
blackturkdog no. It was recorded live.At the beginning kennen talks to the audience. Plus the show shows the audience when the fly girl dance. a laugh track sound way different.
blackturkdog ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NXNM0dTzHOE.html it shows right here that it was live. Plus in the middle of this skit i heard a person say "hell nah". You can most def tell it was not a laugh track. At least in that episode.
Than at the end of good james said it was recorded beofe live audience. Wel good times probably was one to since he did say it was recorded before live. But i am pretty sure in living color was real. Plus i read a article that said a show with a live audience has genuine laughs. So im just assuming. I could be wrong though my guy!. But than i also read that for a show that was recorded live the actors would wait until the audience got done laughing than and at times it would be followed by a weird silence plus at times you can hear people caughing and it would more of a echo when they did laugh. And i seen that all the time on in living color and other shows. Even on good times. So to be honest i think it was real laughs.
The Wayans family are the 11 on a scale of 10 crazy and DAG has always been "not from here". This show was, even for a short time on the air, so relevant. Next to Chapelle's show this was one of the funniest black written, acted and produced.
Before your time, but Richard Pryor and Flip Wilson had remarkable shows, and took numerous chances with the material. As to ILC, it was the character actors for me: Kim Coles, DAG, Damon Wayans, Jim Carey, Tommy Davidson, T"Keyah Keymah, Alexandra Wentworth, Jie Foxx, etc...they were obviously hysterically talented.😂😂
When this aired it was VERY funny! IMO the '90s were the last great decade 4 black entertainers. They had great sitcoms, new jack swing ruled R&B, hip hop was at its peak and "In Living Color" ruled on Sunday nites! Miss those days.
It was the last great decade for a lot of things! Movies. Tv shows. Music. Comedy. Cartoons. Everything now is spoon fed agenda injected political brainwash nonsense.
Shut up. It’s literally available to everyone right now. Tv isn’t all there is. This literally started on tv, and tv has grown more controversial in the last 30 years. Stop regurgitating mindless rhetoric
@@cherylkearney8491 It's silenced a lot of ignorance. There, I fixed it for you, cause that's what's really happened. Same thing happened with making black people play nothing but criminals and the help. It's not political correctness, it's called growth and evolution and it will keep happening, and I'm glad. A society that doesn't grow, remains stagnant and inevitably destroys itself.
In Living Color was super funny! We recorded every episode mostly to see my cousin Deidre Lang, one of the original Fly Girls! The family was and still very proud of Deidre whose still dancing and performing!
I love this show and this skit in particular. Damon and Alan had me laughing so hard and the show was phenomenal. It was a shame that the powers that be took the show off the air because they didn’t want to give the Wayans their worth.
@@rohe4077 lmao... wow you are so original. I guess you're one of those people without the ability to laugh at themselves. In fact you are one of those people that attack other people because it makes you feel better about yourself. Peace out.. try not to take life so seriously. Bless you and yours.
@@maxpower2542 this man's really taking a roast too seriously while saying people need to take things less seriously. Never change RU-vid. Truly an amazing site
I tell you I grew up watching this at a great time to be alive, even with all the struggles of the world around me,I had great laughter with this show from such great talent‼️
@@Luna-kb3sr to this day I see way more people complaining about pc people being offended than people who actually are offended. Which is hilarious to me.
one of the funniest and most ground breaking shows of all time. even after all of these years i binge in living color. their bravery and pure talent remains unmatched today.
I remember how the next day at school we would always do the new "snap of the week". But I don't remember this episode or the "patty-cake snap" .. 😂🤣 DEADISH
At the time this was airing I was in the Marine Corps and we also would come into work the next day and do the "snap of the week". We were especially fond of "two snaps up and a twist". Another favorite was "snap in Z snap formation". It was fun to be young...
The first part of this was part of the season finale. People were waiting all summer to see how they resolve one of them not being gay anymore. Same with Homey "selling out" in the same episode.
Yes back then you could use the word retarded you can make fun of people who had mental disabilities and you can make fun of people with physical disabilities pure magic
OMG!! Tell me about it. Matter of fact just think about how man "classic lines" were in this show: Hated it, Homie don't play dat, I'm readdiy ta' go, BAM!!, Let Me show ya' Somethin', and on and on lol!!!!!
I remember watching these growing up when I was like 10 and having 90% of the jokes go over my head. I'm so glad that RU-vid is around so I can rewatch this and get them all. Great times!
Yes they were using the word retarded making fun of people with learning disabilities making fun of people with physical disabilities they could never now
I want to own Blain's little hat SOOOO bad. I would just it on my coffee table and just crack up laughing every time I came into my living room and saw it lol!!!
I'm straight, and I loved Men On Film! This particular episode poked fun at toxic masculinity, homophobia and heterosexism. ILC dabbled in all of the communities.
no such thing as toxic masculinity, but I get it they poked fun of masculinity, hetrosexuality, homophobia and even gay. but who cares this show was great entertainment.
That honestly is probably the funniest skit of the entire show. David Alan Grier his character that is seriously amazing acting and funny as hell. Some of the Jim Carrey skits are great like Fire Marshal Bill but this is just next level. Homey the Clown also a contender.
True but let's not forget, it was because of Fox censors causing the Wayons to leave the show. People just don't understand, it's comedy. We take so much seriously today than understanding comedy and entertainment. Hence Dave Chappelle...
I LOVE this show. I've always thought it was better than SNL not saying it wasn't good because it obviously was. But In Living Color was HILARIOUS! Everyone on here was so funny and their careers after this was still followed because of this. 2022 and I still watch this! Classic!
