You do not have to be a fan of pitching duals to get into this game. That line score tells you nothing about the action!
The Dominican Republic opened the scoring with a bomb off LF Johan Mieses' bat that went so far the play-by-play guy called it off the bat. It was a great grab off a cherry picked 91MPH fastball out of the glove of Tom de Blok. When 3B Goris stepped into the box and took a 3-1 ball deep to left for a double, the RHP took a seat. Another double by C Roldani Baldwin and the Dominicans were ahead by three.
The action was hot throughout the game, especially when it came to defensive stretches for plays but, from the moment de Blok threw that pitch to Mieses, neither side let the other's battery have a second to breath.
The guys on the hill didn't let up either. Between them, the 10 pitchers who saw action flagged 15, de Blok took down 6 on his own. Over 5.2 innings of work he threw just 94 pitches. We did that math for you. That's an average of just 5 pitches/out.
