Doing a fuel consumption test in a Mercedes Benz E220d (W213 / MY2016) with 194hp, representing the new generation E-class.
The engine has a displacement of 1950cm³. The car is fitted with a 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission and rear wheel drive.
Aim of this test is not to give an exact specification of the fuel consumption of this car, but to show an approximation of the fuel consumption under real life circumstances.
As the result also depends on tyres, size of the rims, road condition, weather and equipment that may alter the exact weight of the car, your personal experience may differ from mine.

You can tell this was built for the derestricted autobahns - 125mph at less than 2400rpm and barely over 10l/100km.

I saw E200d bluetec video it shows: 6,0l/100 km @ 120km/h 6,5l/100km @ 130km/h 7,5l/100km @ 150km/h Which means E220d has more power and still more efficient than E200d. Is 2018 E200d has same engine as 2013 E200d bluetec?

What is the best car for consumption you ever tested in town ^^!?
@danieli.9549
@danieli.9549 6 лет назад
hyy, if you want a good consumption in town, than buy a Sandero 0.9 TCE. The Sandero, from Dacia is the best "value for money" Is enought spacious and the rate of came service is fantastic small. But you must agree to have a franchusen car, because is manufactured under licence Renault (in Turki, Romania, Russia and Maroco) I recomand you to buy version Steppway, is more beutiful than a standard Sandero.

This is not really accurate but still worth mentioning. The particle filter can't regenerate at that low rpm not enough heat. 120kph and 1200 revs... Another good example how you save money on one side and throw it out the window by buying a new filter and maybe also the clogged intake manifold too. That low rpm is also very bad for some parts inside the engine when it puts a lot of torque on them because we all know that an engine runs smoother at 2000-2500rpm than at 1200
@koelschejong01
@koelschejong01 7 лет назад
With Style It's always better to drive at low RPMs as long as you have enough oil pressure. If you look at the torque curve, the motor produces more torque at 2000rpms. At 1200 rpms, it needs less power for keeping the same speed, so the engine won't get worn more. And the particle filter regenerates by injecting more fuel than needed into the cylindres, so the motor runs less efficient and produces more heat. It doesn't really matter at which RPMs it does that as long as it gets warm enough. I believe the engineers at Mercedes did their job, so there's no need about worrying that the filter gets full. Although it takes longer to get the filter full at less RPMs, because the motor runs more efficient and produces less particles for the same speed. Sorry for the bad English, I'm German :D
@charlesmacgilchrist3648
@charlesmacgilchrist3648 7 лет назад
It depends on what the engine was built for. Many diesel engines in HGVs for example will produce maximum torque and efficiency between 1000 and 1500rpm and will spend over 500000 miles cruising at 1200rpm whilst hauling 100000lbs or more.
@slimupb
@slimupb 5 лет назад
@@koelschejong01 I think you are partially right! I am telling from my experience on driving 2014 VW Passat 2.0TDI 177hp DSG that if I am driving on low revs DPF will regenerate on SHORTER period of times and NOT "it takes longer to get the filter full " as you are saying. Now I am driving more on manual or SPORT and regeneration is less often!
