I did mine today on my 1999 ML320 and even with 160,000 miles the original 22 year old oil was brown ......I have seen black oil on other videos .....I replaced it with Mobil 1 75W90 and it took me an hour to complete ........ front and rear exactly 3 liters...... tomorrow I am doing the transmission service. I had to buy the oil and pump and the ramps and hex keys for a total cost of $140.00 at Autozone...... Mercedes Benz wanted $450.00 ......Thanks for your help !!!!!!!
Hi fupa... wanted to find out how much and the type of oil one should use for flushing Brake Fluid, Gearbox and Power Steering Fluid. Does climate make a difference to what diff oil one should use? I live in South Africa so a hotter climate ave 30 degrees celcius
Great video! Plan to do it myself this weekend based on this video, just a question. You mentioned the rear is the same procedure, i also watched your transfer case video, but to be clear there are 2 differentials right and one transfer case? hate to mix them up as they are using different fluids....
@@fupabox hi mate, just gone to try and do mine but I have some lines in the way which I believe are power steering and transmission lines. So it’s almost impossible to reach the fill bolt. Is this because my car is right hand drive ? Cheers
Do you know if 2001 w210 E320 base model has FRONT differential oil that need to be drain and fill? Or it has only rear differential.? Just did the rear but can not find the front bolts
if it's a 4matic all wheel drive it will have a front diff. The 4 matic has a drain and fill (both the same bolt ) ..vacuum the oil out and pump it in. It should be located on the passenger side just in front of the axleshaft where it enters into the front diff.
Hey Fupabox, thank you for the great vids. I was hoping you can give me a follow up on the 75w-90 gear oil, I think that's what you used(according to the bottle) I recently got some Valvoline Synpower Full synthetic 75W-90 to do this job, but read some forums dis-advising the use of 75w-90. Have you had any problems since doing this job, would you know if the Valvoline gear oil I have is going to be ok, I know the manual calls for 85w-90, but I cant find that anywhere.
The 75-90 synthetic is fine as long as it is an API gl5 or gl4/5 ..The discussions on forums are regarding the weight of oils available 19 years ago when the ML was new.. The oils available are not the same available now. The newer ones are better. The 75/90 will allow less friction and be quieter , better efficiency , especially when cold . I checked with several Mercedes specialists and dealers (I couldn't find 80w90 either) and they all said 75w 90 is what they use. I have put 40k km on the fluids in the diffs since changing.. no issues at all
Its Liqui Moly 75w90 GL-4 gear good to use on my 02’ ML 500, and i have this vehicle for 4 years and def needs differential gear oil replacement. Your response will be gladly appreciated. 3 liters for front and back should be fine to purchased?
