Boyd great update on the USS ENTERPRISE and also the C-57D I have 2 kits but no room to build the C-57D will follow you on this build and will see maybe I can find some room to build the C-57D you have a great day.

Thanks for posting this, and DO consider a conversion of a 1:350 Nimitz to a 1: 350 Ford Class for the USS ENTERPRISE CVAN-80. Your Measure 21 is RIGHT ON TARGET.
The two carrier designs are NOT as much alike as you think. The general hull form is similar but even in that there are some major changes. I haven't seen the rudders but the Ford hull has a bulbous bow similar to what was introduced on the Reagan (CVN-76). The structural changes in both Reagan (CVN-76) and Bush (CVN-77) are significant because they can't be economically refit to the previous Nimitz-class ships. Things like armoring reinforcement and anti-ski COULD be refit to earlier units but not things like redesigned islands, the thicker cables (and simplified/1-less wire) on the flight deck. There are lot more structural differences you can't accommodate on the older ships because it's not economical to refit them with alterations that would require significant tear-downs and rebuilds. The island of the Ford is similar to the islands of the last 2 Nimitz-class hulls but it's not identical. They made changes based on experience with the last 2 Nimitz-class ships to reduce the radar signature of the Ford-class carriers. The most dramatic differences are the flight deck layout. It's the first time since JFK (CV-67) that they altered the flight deck significantly on the frontline American supercarrier design. The island is further back and they reduced the number of deck-edge elevators from 4 to 3! There are going to be significant structural tract differences because with the shift of the island's position and reduction of the deck elevators the differences are going to be more numerous than you'd think. 3-D printing is NOT going to save you from doing a lot of cutting and re-gluing. Unless you're willing to spend a lot of time and money in a mod that would take many months to "accuratize" the model into a different design ship, you'd be better off I'd think waiting for the official Ford-class model kit to hit market.
I'll probably build the 1:350 CVN-65 Enterprise at some point but super detailed ship models like these take a lot of time to build. I've got tons of other projects planned including the 1:200 Titanic which will be a monster of a build in size and detail.
About a million years ago I built that big C57D kit. It's nickname "the trash can lid" was well deserved. I may have been the only one to call it that. Those saucer wedges do not want to go together and look nice. I'm looking forward to see how it turns out for you because I know if anyone can do it, it's you. No pressure.
Most of all carriers, from WW2 and today's modern carriers, is mostly white inside, there some gray areas. The bulkheads (walls) and overhead (ceiling) is usually white. The deck (floor) is black or darker gray. You can research other carriers from that WW2 to see how the aircraft was placed. There are various ways the Navy can place the aircraft in the hangar. There is online books of this. Do research on Yorktown-Class Aircrafter Carrier instead of USS Enterprise. In other words look up the ship class. You may find more pictures that way. Oh man, I can't wait for you to start on the Forbidden Planet ship! I built that many years ago and it is absolutely huge!! So huge in fact that I ended up selling it because I just didn't have the room for it. Haha! Interestingly, mine didn't come with the ID monster. I wonder if mine was an older version of the kit. I got it when it first came out whatever year that was.

A little off topic. Did you catch the new 4K Star Trek TMP director cut? What I noticed the most is how much more detail that is visible on the models. I’m about to do the refit and after seeing the new version I’m rethinking what I’m going to do. I’m glad I got a ton of screen shots.
For aircraft placement in the Hanger: "no right or wrong way to place them down there, if an aircraft was ready and capable it would stay on topside! Only aircraft that needed maintenance, repairs, touch -ups "what-ever it needed" was placed below. Aircraft was parked/chocked/chained in the hanger bay mostly on the port side of the hanger with the nose "out". It is also to be noted that wings props etc were removed from the aircraft if needed. The hanger was nothing but a "garage to fix/maintain the birds to get them topside"
The "Big E" is coming on very nicely! I like your idea with the C-57D dome being half clear. If I might make a suggestion would a soft edge between the clear and opaque sides instead of a hard "cutaway" division be a good look?
I would guess aircraft below would be similar to above, diagonally with a clear line down the middle which would allow them to pull any plane to the elevator. If they were parked otherwise it wouldn't be possible to quickly get the desired plane out.
Regarding the next build Forbidden Planet Space Crusier. I've just watched an old Twilight Zone episode from 1960, called Third from the Sun. you should check that out too. No spoliers! 😉
60+ years later, and those are still some of the shows ever made. Been watching them again lately myself, they come on at like 2-5am every night and have been recording them on the DVR..........👍🏻
How much is a commission for one of your TOS enterprise builds??? I may be interested. I know I can get my hands on one of the kits. I’d definitely want the older kit with the rings, a little bit of a lighter color to the hull as well as subtle weathering, full lighting, blinking details, a lit and modeled bridge as well as shuttle bay, LED Nacels, sound effects, and maybe even some 1:350 scale character if possible:)
