Best mechanic in whole series. Hopefully we get new octocamo in Physint. Its need futuristic setting like MGS4 with cool hitech gadgets and that shit. MGSV is good but sadly Kojima has hands tided because of timeline.
Id rather a good game with soild story than the butter squash Jank we get now from Story mode in cod lol matter of fact this game had a better online too...guessing you were too afraid to play the online dont wrorry buddy no Cut scenes for your adhd low T count mind guess to much watching Tiktoks and shorts turned that golden fish brain smaller lmao
If only there were more areas like this in the game! mgs4's mechanics are awesome but it feels like the game hardly presents opportunities to experiment with them
Kind of gotta disagree here (Sorry, no offence 😅) There are plenty of areas to flex this game's sandbox, Especially in ACTS 1,2 and 4 and a lil bit in ACT5. Really the only Act that is restrictive is ACT3 and that's because once you've mastered that area it's just a boring AF tailing mission with very little wiggle room to experiment otherwise the resistance member just goes wherever he wants to lol
@manlymcbeefinton2014 That's fair honestly. I think maybe I should replay-- It's been a while since I've played 4 so maybe I'm just remembering the action focused sequences as being way more prominent than they actually are
@@evelynmeenan2608 ye i remember the action scenes as well when i stopped playing years ago, but when i got back into the game a lot of them are more in depth than i realised, like even the frog encounter act 1 can be done stealthy and tactically as long as ur not in their sights the frogs will prioritize them over you allowing u to start playing tactically 😉
@@evelynmeenan2608 You should definitely revisit this game. The entire game can be played like a shooter (which adds some cool audio and flashbacks that I won't spoil) or you can literally stealth through every single encounter. You can also offer items to the militia members and change their perception of you amongst other things. This game is a lot deeper than people give it credit for.
The biggest design mistake was in Act 3. If you know the location of the hideout (which no one would on a first run) they should have let you make your own way through the streets. The tailing always kills the pacing and ability to experiment with your stealth options on a replay. I also think Act 5 should have had more areas for sneaking as it was the final sneaking area of the series.
If mgs4 gets a pc port and the community mods in custom maps, then this will be the best stealth action game ever, the only [major] problem with this game is the extremely short gameplay duration, this game had and still has so much potential with its sandbox and tight stealth mechanics, but Kojima made this into a self indulgent hollywood movie game, again amazing gameplay as always
I think the MGO2 maps would be a great place to add some custom mission side ops of some sort that would be a great place to start to creating mods. But what I think MGS4 actually needs is maybe a title update, We got Integral, Substance, Subsistence, PO+, PW HD, even MGSV got the Definitive edition, but MGS4 never received a major update or re-release title update. Perhaps a 'Metal Gear Solid 4: Existence' 👀 what I would want is reworked Drebin points system and new side game modes like side ops etc that we could access in the nomad in between ACTS
Yup, I feel that MGS4's gameplay is far more tighter and fluid that MGSV's. V's does have the strength of giving you an open world to experiment with and a longer play time than 4 does, which is ultimately it's greatest failing. If 4's gameplay and mechanics were transplanted onto a larger sandbox with more gameplay it would have been a masterpiece.
In terms of gameplay 4 has always been my favorite, surprisingly complex but satisfying. Having to pause all the time in MGS3 got tedious, so the Octocamo was a blessing. If we get that PC port in Master Collection Vol.2 I'm really hoping the community can get some custom level mods made, because MGS4's levels are so fun but so short compared to the cutscenes. Love the story for the most part, but c'mon give me more gameplay!
The entire game is underrated. It's a modern anti war masterpiece. As a person of North African descent myself, that intro area in the middle East is some of the most realistic, amazing, immersive, pure MGS content we ever got.
Never realised how much detail and hidden alternative things to do in these maps of mgs4, I always just take the same path cuz im too scared to take a new one
Bought this game for $6 dollars in 2012 off Amazon without having any clue what it was about. To this day it’s one of the best bang for my buck in gaming.
I feel like one of the few reasons its underrated is cause not many people are able to play it since of the exclusivity and what not I'm sure many more people would love this stealth once Master Collection Vol.2 comes out
I mean… a lot of people played it when it first came out, like any other popular game. It’s more modern gamers who didn’t get the chance, but again, also always true for games that came out over a decade ago lol. Obvs a remaster or port would have new players try it as always. But this game had next levels of hype when it originally came out I think majority of people that wanted to play it have
Really wish 5 kept the camo index...I get that they were going for some semi-realism with making it a non-explicit system; but from the perspective of playing a videogame its honestly more fun when you're assured by a percentage number how effective your stance, location and outfit choice is.
Man, if only Kohima took the “less is more” approach this one time. I love MGS4, the visuals, some of the story, the music… but damn, there are so many gimmick sequences where you are either driving or shooting from a vehicle, and so many bossfights. Not to mention how the stealth in Act 3 is really iffy (no sandbox) and only holds up the first time you play it. If the game just focused on the good old, multi-path stealth, like the sequence in this video, people would still lose their minds playing this game today. Would have been like a Dark Souls stealth game heaven.
@@kluneberg8952 Yeah, and the other gimmick sequences are when you control Metal Gear Rex, the shooting on the end of Act 1 (which you can't use stealth), and all the stuff after the beginning of Act 5. Plus the boss fights. Seriously, some of that stuff isn't even that bad, but why isn't stealth employed in any of the climatic sequences? That's what irks me
Its been *_yeeaars_* since I last played this amazing, beautiful and stressful game. Everything about this video, the sound effects, the grunts and the map design brought back pleasant memories when i first played this game. As much as i loved going guns blazing and reeking havoc in other games, this game taught me the importance of sneaking around and knocking some enemies out while remaining hidden. I wish I could play this game for the first time.
Well the best part of the MGS series especially from snake eater and onwards is their like sneaky sandbox jungle gyms where you can make no two playthrough's the same ;) As for ACT3 the issue a lot of ppl have is that for the people who play these games religiously, once you've mastered it, and you just want to move on... you can't, it is basically an auto-scroller, it's the area MGS speed runners dread the most, not saying you cannot have fun/experiment in the area u definitely can it just some ppl just like going at their own pace.
Lmao buddy Mgs4 was never underrated. It was HUGE at release & considered the best stealth/action game of all time even years post release. Only reason 'fans' hated it was because of the cutscene lengths
I remember that Kojima said that this game has most compromises in the series and he is not satisfied with final result. At that time, PS3 architecture was new and complicated. Mark Cerny(architect of PS4 and PS5) said that develop first games for PS3 was like solving rubiks cube without manual. Raidens scenes was meant to be playeable, but they have a problems to make combat system works, they scrapped it and replace it with cutscenes. Rex vs Ray duel was meant to be in bigger arena and more complex, but it was too much big for PS3. Act 3 was meant to be bigger with sequence in sewers. etc. But its still a good game and good ending for the story.
Your the only other person I've ever seen with a similar play style to my own in this game. It's refreshing to see! Worthy of the title of legendary hero!
I use stealth tactics I learned in MGS4 in games to this day. Using enemy gunfire to move in silence, staying near shadows for just a little bit more camouflage. It works.
I like the ring so much more then the X-ray vision they give in stealth games nowadays. It makes more sense too. you can hear someone coming in real life but it doesn't mean you know there exact location.
You're pretty good! I love MGS4, and you did an excellent video, I think this was the playstyle Kojima was expecting when designing the stealth options and levels. This is really satisfying to watch, so I can only Imagine what it must feel when successfully doing all of this in game, I hope you have more ideas like this because it's really interesting!
Thanks this is like a wee prequel to this vid its the area after this one give a watch if u want to, I plan on further exploring this games sandbox even further ✌ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GoqLUTiKZZ0.htmlsi=ooMaEFszRCDxQJY_
Mgs4 has flawless stealth mechanics it just felt so smooth and clean. Act 1 will always be my favourite i hope if they remake it they extend the locations
Been playing mgsv and while it’s been amazing so far, it’s made me feel like I’m missing something. I couldn’t quite figure out what it was. Then I watched this, it was the condensed maps, the barren amount of weapons, the stealth (aka octocamo) and just overall feel of classical mgs games. Don’t get me wrong, absolutely love mgsv. But open worlds don’t suit stealth games.
I honestly think it's the worst mark against MGSV. I liked the approach Ground Zeroes had as it felt like a traditional MGS map but without the loading screens. Unfortunately, Phantom Pain decided huge barren open worlds with outposts sprinkled around was the better call...
@@Skehrcrosexactly how i feel. like i love the gameplay, the game just feels great. i'd dare say it's the best playing metal gear game. but there's nothing to the world. your just dropped into a massive place with nothing to do, besides your objective. it really hurts the pace of the game, and for me takes the fun out of it.
One other thing about TPP is when it does have a good base like the Oil factory the game then just never decides to use it again not even in side ops. Also sometimes i feel like the game might be a little too open and most of the guards are outside in the open making them sniper bait and very few are inside the interiors..... Still love MGSV to death tho 😂 the world is not ready to see my hours spent
@@manlymcbeefinton2014oh god yeah, i've only just gotten to like mission 25 and i've spent way more hours on it then id did on any other mgs game before. but i agree using more areas like the oil factory would be nice.
Yeah, it's very unfortunate that Camp Omega is the best level in MGSV, and it isn't in The Phantom Pain at all. I wouldn't go so far as to say the open world couldn't have worked, I think it could've worked if only the structure to wilderness ratio wasn't so borked, and if the wilderness/outposts had far more random encounter elements added to them. To an extent, 4 has a comparable problem, there just aren't enough levels in it. And beyond "not enough level", the _way_ you're encouraged to experience levels is also an area with a lot of room for innovation in stealth games. IMO the way the Hitman: World of Assassination trilogy handles its levels is why I think it's the peak of what stealth gameplay has achieved so far
I want to try this game in the future when the 2nd master collection comes out seems fun and engaging. Been playing alot of mgsv but I feel some of the gameplay is simplified like camo and healing still like the game for how fun it is.
Yea camo in MGSV got a big downgrade which was carried over from PW where you wear a solid black sneaking suit in the desert at daytime and is only a slight nerf lol
going from MGR to this was really, ahem, "humbling", to say the least. at least in regard to the robotic enemies like the dwarf gekkos and the big gekkos.
No HF blade?!?! nah but for real for some tips for the gekko i recommend sniping them in the brain with the Anti-material rifle, it doesn't do as much damage as the rail gun, but it has a higher rate of fire plus can penetrate through them thus insta killing them if it's the brain. For the dwarf's use a grenade launcher if you've been discovered it's a great crowd control clearer, In stealth use a Chaff nade as a quick way to get through an area, or use C4 charges detonate it from a far place and the gekkos will swarm the area of the explosion giving you clear opening, as for firearms I recommend the M10 submachine gun with a suppressor it's basically the SOCOM/operator on crack lol just without most of the CQC abilities of the pistols/barehanded move set, enjoy this paragraph of text ;)
MGS4 is underated, period. It's absolutely gorgeous and it plays so good. Give me a PS5 updated untouched version and I'll play it forever. It's my favorite in the series. MGS1 then V.
Its been years since ive played this but man the stealth (and AI) was so deep in this game. As a younger man i played it so boring and still had a blast. But seeing videos of people doing some cool AF stealth makes me want to play it again
Who needs stealth when I have a silenced P90 to turn extreme difficulty into easy, until I get to the final boss and give up because Mashing the X button to defeat Ocelot broke me.
and the good ol' M4A1, M60E4 & Crying Wolf's Railgun on my side when shit really hits the fan harder than Chuunibyou & Yumemiru Danshi English dubs took a blow to remaining half of my sanity
I coincidentally watched some octopus documentaries recently. Their camouflage ability is actually incredible, mixed with their ability shapeshift. Snake can't change his body, but it's actually not far fetched that can blend in.
Please, do more videos like this with other areas in the game. At first, this was the only MGS that didn't make me fell as all the others but I'm willing to give it another chance Great video. Keep on keeping on 😁👍🏼
Been fighting with RPCS3 for a while now to get this game running smoothly. I finally found some youtube guides on how to get the game running good and my god, it's amazing. Can't wait for the remake of MGS3!
Cheers!! The algorithm gods have blessed me LMAO 🤣 I think it's unfortunate ur MGS3 vid didn't get blessed tho I think it's one of ur best plays yet, want me to shout it out on my community page?
Back when MGO2 still had servers I got a kill by effectively using forest camo and hiding in a bush. I sucked so bad at the game I was willing to try anything at that point.
Snake Eater is my absolute favorite of the series, but 4 is a close second. The gameplay is Snake Eater x2 and the octocamo was perfect, how flexible it is with all the different actions snake has. I just wished it actually let you play with them a lot more :(
wait i didn't even know about the disarm move?! god I wish we had a level editor for this game, and could keep adding new warzones to move through with these mechanics. Even just some random placement of enemies in the multiplayer maps would be such an easy add!
MGS 4 felt surprisingly short. I wish it had a bit more boss variety than the traumatized hot laddies. Wish it's Subsitance edition would see the light of day at some point. Besides these issues it was a perfect stealth game
While I do love the Octocamo there is one thing that im not a big fan of, the feet portion of the costume doesnt camo itself, instead it looks like a little piece of fabric going under the foot. Reminds me of someone wearing tights
I'm extremely excited to be able to experience the remake's gameplay, just allow the player to explore the map without loading screens, add enemy spawns and we could play for hours.
MGS4 has the most unique gameplay mechanics in the whole series, yet it's also the only game in the whole series where I remember more the cutscenes than the gameplay 😂
