Metal Gear 1 remake with a fully expanded world and story would go hard

The Boss looks different from how I remember/imagine. Not wrong, not bad, just different. I think the new look is great though, her eyes show all the right emotions.

I am extremely looking forward to this game and this might actually be the first game since 2008 I am gonna buy in a launch week (if optimization will be good). I am also super happy Kojima is NOT around this time, because KONAMI grew tired of him and his attention to the tiniest details which prolonged the development and budget of Konami games (yes it's Konami games, not Kojima's. Kojima was only one of many). Hope this will end up good and we get MG and MG2 remakes in a similar fashion!

about my only complaint is that the bridge in dolinovodno isn't as shaky as it is in the original game. other than that, this game looks like what mgs3d looked like to me on the 3ds

It's crazy we are living in a time where it seems like Konami is having some kind of redemption arc. I do think that it would have been a good gesture from the company if they had acknowledged why people were frustrated with them though. Even Sony did that during the PSN hack and apologized. Konami never really did.

The boss looks a little weird but still hyped

on the engine part, No the fox engine doesn't mean that the gameplay cannot be replicated anywhere, You can code all of the same stuff on unity and with enough dev time and expertise you can make Phantom Pain on it feel the same way. Sometimes having custom in house engine means that you have more control for an artistic vision that might have not been possible in like Unreal engine 4, probably how animations are process or shader and shit like that. But the fox engine is old now, really outdated to what unreal engine 5 has now, Updating fox engine to the new tech we have today would have cost a lot of money and that could have impacted the quality of this remake. So yeah Unreal 5 has everything and more than fox engine had back in 2015. I think also the idea of the fox engine is for better cross gen optimization at the time, Outta remember that game also ran on PS3 and 360 pushing those console to its limit. the engine talk is more complicated than that since i am not a dev, but being on unreal really doesn't mean it could have not be done.

It's a shame konami didn't pump this much money into silent hill 2 remake the gap in quality between the two remakes is wild.

Personally I think the reason why they did MGS3 first is because of how good it holds up to begin with. It would be far more difficult to remake Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. If I remember right somebody at Konami who worked with Kojima said that the current plan is to see how MGS Delta: Snake Eater pans out. Then probably do another remake, maybe 2 because of how much it holds up as well. After that maybe they'll make a more in depth remake, like MG/MG2:SS

What would really give konami a lot of good faith by us mgs players would be releasing a completed version of chapter 3 in mgsv, an upgrade to the game, a few more missions, a new map to roam and do side ops in and finally put to rest MGSV's lack luster endgame

very true about metal gear solid 3 holding up well. before playing the Master Collection last year, I hadn't played MGS3 for around fifteen years. Aside from the lack of crouch walk it still plays really well. Meanwhile PS2-era GTA feels almost painfully clunky.

This looks incredable an exactly what a remake should be at first glance, i absolutly love that they havent changed voice lines, this couod be the best remake of moden time if they stick to the orginal like there showing, if ff7 had done this i would have bought part 2

Todays majority of young adults dont know what metal gear is. I'm talking 21 year olds. Sad. This is the game needed to introduce to a new generation.

Snake looks much better than I remember him looking in the reveal trailer, where his cheeks or face shape looked a bit... saggy or bloated? That said, I'm not happy about the facial expressions. Snake has a mostly blank expression on his face when he fights the Ocelot Unit. And while The Boss's eyes in the original were steely and sharp but also sad, here she just looks tired and zombie-like.

Metal Gear 1 and 2, then Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action, ps1 deserved a "remake" first. Snake Eater, ps3 is perfection as is. Still the remake is a must buy being a die-hard fan since 1998.

Konami have been doing pretty well these last couple years and I think they have hit it all the park with these remakes. I don’t know why people hate this company still to this day?

TBH looks like an asset flip, kind of a bad asset flip because they used a forest floor texture in the jungle, so, also Big Boss looks like a generic avatar with a changed face model

I might get sh*t for this: I wish Delta would take risks and make it a bit meta and subversive. I get why they won't: Kojima is not there and after a decade of bullcrap Konami has to play it safe and not rock the boat. Make a good game that wins back the fandom. I get it. But still.. It's Metal Gear for fu*ks sake! The series that wrote the book on subversion and risk taking!

I'll reserve my judgment until it's out. I just don't trust Konami. I mean, this looks okay so far, but then there's the Silent Hill remake that personally, I think looks like a parody.

This is what I don't get. I recently bought beat and streamed MGS3 remaster and within such a small amount of time they release what I should have waited for. If you want the most bang for the work that's more expensive why jeapordize that by someone being so recently satisfied. It's like coming out with a Digorno pizza waiting just long enough for it to be fully consumed then order real pizza when everyone's full (Yes I am everyone)

Putting MGS5 mechanics in MGS3 maps will just overpower the player. They should have redesigned them. Lack of cinematic camera is lame. It's the only way I play MGS3. The areas, which mostly go from south to north and have walls arranged like that too, were built for the old cinematic/scripted camera. The M60 sounds puny now. The color timing reminds me of so many old directors and cinematographers embarrassed by their old work completely changing the look of their movies, except its even worse here because the 3D also gives them the ability to insert lens flares and other lighting nonsense. The Boss and Paramedic's faces are ruined. RUINED. The only place for crouching is hiding behind objects, taking cover and accessing low spaces. Here he appears to do it to reduce noise (while moving faster than the "stalk"), as per the modern standard. Probably also significantly increases camo index, which sucks, basically forcing it all the time. Looks as uncool as it always does.

I actually think this is a case where Konami's modest aims with games are beneficial to a remake. It's not hard to imagine a scenario where an ambitious reworking of Snake Eater leads to a worse version of it because of experiments/ideas that don't work. Instead, because of the company being much more low-key with their budgets/plans, it appears to be graphical rehaul with some improved gameplay mechanics, basically adding to the feel of MGS3 rather than outright changing its core. Even reusing the same voice acting, a move done to both respect the original Japanese actors that have passed on and to save money on recording new dialogue, is probably the most practical option given how strong the original performances in English and Japanese were.

It does look good yeah but it is NOT a remake It's a Re-Remasterd of Metal Gear Solid 3....thats about it

Knowing Konami I wouldn't be surprised if this game is rife with micro-transactions. Probably have to pay for reloads and rations.

Hate to break it to you but this game is going to be trash; maybe if they went the resident evil route and "reimagined" the environments this game would be somewhat worthwhile, but all we've seen from the gameplay trailer is a rote reproduction of the original Snake Eater's maps and story beats. I'm confident in saying this "new" MGS game is another shameless cash-grab from those creatively bankrupt fools at Konami. But time will tell.
