Thank you for all the support! I'm glad you're all excited about Metal Sonic in Death Egg Zone! That said, this hack is currently still in heavy development; there's a lot of experimental features, bugs, glitches, unfinished stuff, etc. that are still getting worked on. I'm not ready to release it yet, but that time will come eventually. EDIT: OMG 100,000 VIEWS!!!
Yeah, I guess that's true in a way. I've never really thought of it that way. Chaotix and Sonic CD are mostly run on the main genesis hardware (in fact, code from them can often be ripped and put directly into the main genesis games), but they do depend a fair bit on the extra hardware.
@Sir AZ ......Cd,saying that it doesn't count due to it being on an add on is like saying that legend of zelda or Mario 2 aren't nes games because they were on the famicom disk system.
This is pretty cool and neat. This seems like this is something of which Sega would have designed and implemented in a Sonic game, indeed (likely in Sonic 2, itself).
FALSE. Before the death egg zone, you had Debug enabled. When you entered the Metal Sonic arena, NO DEBUG. And when you entered Silver Sonics area, *4 LIVES INSTEAD OF 3!*
I actually used Debug to beat Wing Fortress, then disabled it on the way to death egg. As a result, the debug text is actually glitched on the way; it doesn't update properly, and the actual score (140) is rendered on top of the debug mode numbers (which is not normal). As for the extra life, that's actually a genuine bug! Thanks for pointing it out, I never noticed it before!
In fact, that bug is older then the Metal Sonic fight itself; you can see it in action in one of my older videos, where I used the same object to travel to Hidden Palace Zone: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pKvAkxXuoIc.html
Most of the time periods for each zone are unchanged from the original, and many of those don't even have time travel objects in them. I'm hoping to have a handful of zones finished by the time the SHC comes around though.
I don't know if you can mod this in but this really seems like it can work with the dropdash. If you can, if you want to add it can you add the dropdash
I have a question about metals AI. Does he just react to certain tiles, which causes him to move in certain way, or does he have a set movement pattern?
He always follows the ground, similar to how a grounder or motobug would. He also has code to die in the event he falls into a death pit, although it normally isn't used in this fight.
Actually the robot in Sonic 2 Genesis is Mecha Sonic. He's referred to as that in Japan and his design references Mechagodzilla. The term 'Silver Sonic' comes from the Archie Comics using the wrong name which itself came from Sonic 2 Game Gear's US manual. However, in JP the Sonic 2 Game Gear robot is ALSO Mecha Sonic.
it really hard to beat metal sonic because he doesn't have the charging sound effect when about to perform the maximum overdrive and barrier plus the positions and amount of spike place basically have to make leaps of faith when your in the air
The rest of my channel showcases the many other features of Sonic 2 CD Remix. I'm hoping to have a playable demo available by the next Sonic hacking Contest, which will include 2-3 levels and this boss fight.
Wow that sounds more challenging than the regular death egg zone. You have to race metal Sonic then fight silver Sonic and finally beat death egg robot. What if instead of metropolis act 3 it was a race against metal Sonic from CD then Sonic 2 continues normally.
It's gonna take me awhile to get used to the fact that the classic games didn't have the drop dash. It's weird going back to them and not having the drop dash for some reason.
