She deserves to be treated fairly. I'm sorry she experienced this. People must remember that in any given moment, that could be them or a family member. So sad. Yes, advocate for yourself and others. Compassion, kindness, and knowledge goes a long way.
UBER PET is clear, you don't have to do UBER, with Uber Pet. If you choose to receive UBER PET, you can't deny service, and you definitely have higher standards of care, empathy, and guidance. Driver doesn't look like someone that should be in the platform. She is mean, volatile and completely willing to go against the rules of her choosen profession. Zero empathy for the rider, and ready to create a POLICE REPORT on top. JESUS 😢
What probably happened here is that the driver unknowingly had "Uber Pet" selected in the check box. Uber is sneaky, and will select this automatically. You have to check it periodically to make sure it's unchecked. The rider shouldn't have to choose Uber Pet, though. This dog is a certified service animal.
Im so sorry she went through all of that. I hope that her account is notated at the least so drivers will be able to either accept or decline providing services so maybe to avoid these situations.
Ok but you cannot force anyone and she could have became violent. She could cancel or get removed from the platform sure but once she rejected the rider she should immediately move to safety
First of all why would the driver have activated Uber Pet on her app if she didn't want animals in her car??? Secondly, regardless of Uber Pet or not, drivers are required to take service animals. Unfortunately for drivers, the ADA allows disabled people to forcibly compel services from providers without proper compensation. Uber trips are one of those services. Drivers get paid of course, but may have to log off to clean the car before accepting their next passenger, losing income. Pretty good cellphone filming for a blind person, just saying.
I bought PU car seat covers for my car for doing Uber...I understand having to clean up the dog hairs out of the seats...Plus they can leave the smell if it rains...Wiping the plastic with Lysol before the next rider is soo much easier...Can't she use STS instead?...

Big difference in a service dog and an emotional support dog. Service dogs would never ever leave a mess or shed etc. It’s the “emotional support” animals they are not legitimate and not covered by law because they are not trained, and are not even close to being ok in public. People need to be held legally accountable when they lie and use “emotional support” and lie and say they are a service animal, it’s a BIG BIG BIG difference. I’ve worked in the field a long time I’ve seen so many of these animals and truly never saw one dirty, messy, or even shedding actual legal service dog.
