Watched this game live back in 1986. About the only thing I don't miss about college football (and really sports in general) in the 80s is all the Astroturf. Other than that, it was all better back then.
The officials missing the penalty on the 2-point conversion could have actually helped Michigan. It's possible Michigan could have come back and made the 2, which would have impacted decisions throughout the game. Michigan could have easily gone ahead 28-17. Then, when Carter scored the last touchdown for Ohio State, they could have gone for 2 and missed. With Michigan ahead 28-23, Ohio State wouldn't have been able to try the late field goal. They could have successfully gone for it on fourth down and scored the winning touchdown. So it's entirely possible that the officials missing the penalty on the 2-point conversion attempt actually helped Michigan. We'll never know for sure, but something to think about.
I never knew that rule u have to let the offensive team hear the play call. Your crowd can make too much noise. That's bs . Guess they changed that lol
